Uncle Julio's Durham

Although on this visit I had to educate one of the new managers on how Uncle Julio's Gold Card holder works. Which is when one arrives with a Gold Card they do not have to wait to be seated. They get to be seated at the next available table. She tried to tell me it did not work like that. I told her it did, and I had a 25.00 credit to my account with an email address to corporate if we need to call to verify what I am telling her is correct. She went and questioned another manager, and she was told I was correct and shortly after that I was seated. I did not take what she told me personally. It was her not understanding how Uncle Julio's loyal program worked. I was able to educate her.

I love this Uncle Julio's. My daughter and I was on our dinner date since she was home on spring break from college. We enjoyed our Tacos dinner and everything else that evening.

Uncle Julio’s located at 8030 Renaissance Pkwy, Durham, NC 27713 is a phenomenal Mexican food chain. Server Esteban was great!! Uncle Julio’s is a top top Mexican Restaurant chain that stresses quality as its feature. Tremendous food here - love their Fajitas!
Manager Stephanie was fantastic too. Very welcoming. This is a large Uncle Julio’s but still has an intimate feeling with the subdued lighting and sections in an open environment.

The atmosphere was wonderful. The food was great. The waite staff was wonderful. I suggest you give Uncle Julio's a try.

Solid spot near the mall for a margarita or some almost authentic Mexicana cuisine. I got a margarita with illegal mezcal. I was very confident ordering it because the bar carried illegal in the first place. Illegal is like the best mezcal you can get for your money in Durham right now. The Mar was balanced and rimmed perfectly. I'm not ready to crown this yhe best spot for a margarita until I visit bartaco. Y'all know how much I love bartaco. If your shopping and your partner is taking a bit too long shopping you can totally slide in here for a delicious margarita or Paloma. The food is super fresh and scratch made as any Mexican resturant should be. I recomend this spot to anyone shopping in town or just craving a tex mex fix. Also plenty of tvs to watch the game. The bathrooms are very clean and they do have purse hooks. You will def want to take a taxi during the shopping season for parking. Come at uncle julios grab yourself and illegal mezcal mrgarita and then tell me ots not one of the best you've ever had. I dare you and if it is the best you'll have to say "Uncle"

First time here and I must say I loved it. The decor and ambiance is absolutely beautiful. They offer you free chips and salsa when you arrive and the salsa is damn good! I ordered the beef enchiladas and they were a smash. I will say everything has a kick to it the beans the cheese sauce the salsa so ask your server what’s hot and what’s not before ordering. I love spicy so everything was great to me. I will return and recommend!

I was taken to a seat very quickly, and a big bowl of chips and salsa were brought. This was probably some of the best salsa I've tasted. The chips were warm, fresh, and crunchy. I emptied the salsa bowl!

I ordered the tex-mex combination dinner. When it arrived, the plate was very full. The beef taco was okay, and the chicken enchilada was good, but the chicken was a bit dry for my taste. The beef enchilada was very good. It would have been easier to eat if I had a knife, but the servers were so busy I couldn't get their attention.

5 stars for food, due to the salsa and generous portions. 4 stars for service - they were very nice but overworked.

Thank you for your prompt service, great staff and delicious food! This was my first visit to an uncle Julio's and I can definitely say that I'll be back. I ordered the salmon and it was perfectly cooked. It paired nicely with the Mexican rice and pinto beans. Typing up this review already has me thinking about planning my next visit.

Great food, open space for big groups, good service. We celebrated husbands birthday there and had to open their unique chocolate Pinata filled with fruits and churros. I ordered it prior to dinner to enjoy it fully. We were 6 people, and were not able to finish it.

We LOVED eating at Uncle Julio's at Southpoint in Durham 🫔 The service was fast, the food hot and very fresh, and the waitress was super nice! Started with some complimentary chips and (spicy) salsa. Jason ordered the Guacamole for an appetizer, and Guadalara-ed Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and Chicken Fajitas as the meal, and I got the Pulled Chicken Rice Bowl.

Cost: $28 each, because Jason's meal was $28
Kid-friendly: possibly, but it's expensive

The Guacamole looked pretty, but according to Jason is wasn't great. The veggie chunks were too chunky, and he thinks it needed salt. Plus, an avocado only costs $1 but this guac was $8.50. Not awesome.

Jason ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and chicken fajitas, and ordered Guadalajara style, which means he got 4 (beautiful and delicious) pieces of strip steak for only $1 more. Oh man, I could have about the skirt steak as a whole review! The overall presentation of the meal was beautiful and it sizzled exactly as it should. The only downside was the bacon was undercooked so it was chewy. Jason says it was better as leftovers because it may have cooked more when reheated.

My rice bowl was beautiful as well and absolutely YUMMY! The pulled chicken was probably some of the best I've ever had, all the parts in the bowl tasted amazing individually, and when mixed together is was SO DELICIOUS.

Overall... Price per meal was high. However the proportions you get are pretty big. We probably should have split a bowl and saved room for a churro! You could bring the kids but it's probably best for just adults based on the price.

Great Ambience, friendly staff and great service. I really liked the food taste, prices of dishes are above avg. We tried both veg and non vegetarian options.
Limited veg options but food taste was great,you can ask them without meat options. They don't serve Tofu.

Plenty of free parking.

I've been to the one by Crabtree Valley Mall and lived it. I was out in this location for a doctor's appointment and decided to try this location. Love this location too. Taco tray was very good. I liked how they refill your toppings. I will definitely come back.

Great customer service. No wait time (we did go earlier on the evening). Food came out great and speedily. High quality and delicious as always.

We rented there space for my coed baby shower. The room was perfect for 30-40 people. There is no door between the main dining hall and the room but there didn’t seem to be any issues with noise from this. The food was great abs plentiful. We had our guest take some to go boxes for what was leftover. The waiter and waitresses was very attentive but also gave us space to have fun. I would highly recommend this venu for your intimate event

I went in expecting a bland corporate experience at the mall, what I experienced instead was delicious margaritas and fantastic shrimp fajitas with in-house made tortillas that were soft, thick, and delicious. They could’ve used more variety of hot sauce but no place is perfect.

One of my go to spots in Durham. The location is great and the food is out of the world. The flavor, and quality of the food is impeccable. Keeps me and my family coming back for more.

Great food and nice atmosphere. The outdoor seating is perfect. The food isn't traditional Mexican but very tasty. I recommend going! Stephanie is AMAZING and a pleasure to connect with!!

My husband and I went here for a date night three days after they opened. Just amazing. From the front door staff to the wait staff to the food. Everything was amazing.

Let’s start with the chips. OMGGGG - you won’t be able to eat just one! And they stay on top of it, so we you start chomping, they will bring you a fresh bowl. The salsa! LAWD the Salsa. The smoky salsa - the best!!! So delicious. Try the queso. TRY THEM ALL! I love the queso blanco. I love the Chile con queso. Our waitress was Claudia. She is from the Maryland store. A beautiful young woman who really knew her stuff.

The tortillas. Wow. Amazing. Coming from a Mexican background, traveling and eating all different types of Mexican cuisine, this by far is one of the freshest meals I have had. The flour and corn tortillas were really good. The don’t like guacamole, but the guacamole is amazing too! If you love guacamole, you can have it made fresh at the table from start to finish.

I can go on and on and on, but you really just need to come and experience this for yourself.

Prices range from $8 for queso to $17 for veggie fajitas. It’s not the cheapest but you do get a lot of food. You can share.

Location is direct across from Maggianos at South Point mall. You can’t miss it.

First time here and I keep asking myself: why just now? Well, my only excuse is that I don't come to Durham often 😊. Highly recommend this restaurant, food is yummy, service is great and the place itself is just amazing!

Shopping at the mall and were going to get fast food, but was so hungry wanted to find place closer to eat. We saw this place we never saw before, so decided to give it a try. They had the place set up extremely organized for social distancing, gave us a paper menu instead of the usual germy menus most restaurants give you - I appreciated that. Staff very friendly - Shout out to Clarisa who explained menu items to us and made our experience enjoyable. Food fresh. Love the tortilla chips - could have eaten a whole plate by myself they were so good.

Had a great dinner here tonight! Server was personable and knowledgeable. The birria appetizer was delicious! I got the enchiladas which were great but next time I'll definitely go with 3 because they were small.
