Loved this jewel of a restaurant! Very friendly staff too! We had the pancakes, eggs, bacon, salmon cake and grits. Those were the best grits that I've ever tasted! You have to get the grits!

The only negative thing is the food on Styrofoam. Not my favorite there.

Every Single Thing was DELICIOUS. The shrimp bowl was my favorite and the potatoes and french toast.
The salmon patty is new for me and really tasty. But their grits 😍😍😍

AMAZING I MEAN AMAZING atmosphere was good they're very polite and the prices and VERY affordable for the portion size. Might I add they're BLACK OWNED when I was just searching it didn't tell me that!!!
PSA the only thing I don't like is the "salmon" that's the only misleading thing it's salmon patties not the other salmon!!! It was good I just don't like salmon patties I recommend the chicken sausage

Stumbled across this amazing BO restaurant, while exploring on a relaxing day to myself in 2022. So cute and simple with good vibes, even got to say hello to the owner, she seems so humble. It was nice and peaceful, I enjoyed my meal while the cashier played music that I also enjoyed. Food was SOOO good! Will now be my go to restaurant when passing through Gastonia.

Made it back to Fannie’s last weekend with my husband, it was Delish!! He wanted to get it again Sunday & Monday. Lol They are the truth in that kitchen!!

The shrimp and grits were the best I had. They were a little spicy but I like spicy. The was cheap. I will be going at least once a week.

The breakfast is phenomenal. My family loves this place. The service is amazing I could literally eat it every morning.

I don’t write reviews for restaurants because I simply don’t care enough to do that. I drive for DoorDash and I always get orders from here and something came over me today and I saw that they had salmon and I was like hmmm 🤔 I follow my gut instinct, called in and got the homestyle breakfast with two eggs, salmon grits and raisin toast. Now I’m very particular about my salmon because the last time I had salmon was from Nikis in Charlotte breakfast restaurant and I only trust them to make good salmon, but baby! Nikki‘s who? Fanny cakes has the best! Salmon I have ever had it taste like they didn’t use no measuring tools they just eyeballed everything and everything was just right lol, the grits were like creamy and me being me I had to put my sugar pack in there( don’t come for me)
And I don’t know if you ever been to midnight diner in Charlotte, but is the same consistency of creaminess for the grits but Fanny cakes grits were so much better! About cried, taking my first bite. The eggs didn’t taste like regular eggs. I could tell they didn’t just crack an egg and scramble it and put it in the grill like it was some process some steps on mixing up the eggs I don’t know what but OMG those were the best eggs I ever had the raisin toast didn’t taste like regular raisin toast. It was so sweet and soft and supple. I can’t explain it because I’m a server at waffle house as well on the side and I ate raisin toast at waffle house but it did not taste like waffle house raisin toast. I know this review was long and I know you probably get the point but I promise this review does not do this food justice like you got to go and order something and you see what I mean through this review please just give them a try I promise you you’re gonna be a regular there with them guarantee!

As a food I had to let everyone know this is the best breakfast in the state of NC! It's perfectly seasoned and the grits are the best outside of my Granny's! It's a must try breakfast spot. It's not fancy but the food is beyond amazing! The folks are always nice and good service. Great prices and you will never be disappointed

Googled breakfast places in the area and this little hidden gem came up. When you walk in it feels like home and smells like your grandma's house with the wood stove. The food was very good. We had the breakfast platter with scrambled eggs, salmon and potatoes. Also the pancake platter. Everything was great!

Very nice lady with downtown Gastonia atmosphere. Everyone is welcome. Come fast. Ms.Fannie runs out quickly.

If you want a new favorite breakfast spot, this is the one!!! The food is amazing and affordable, a hard combo to find. I've never had shrimp and grits this good. Ever since the first day I ordered from here, I crave it every morning now. This is hands down the best breakfast place in the area

I’m all about supporting local small business in my town and Fannie Cakes didn’t disappoint! The decor is chill and I like that the table we sat at was literally a dining room table. The food is great - the home fries are fire and I love the grits, which I usually don’t like (I’m from up North, we eat oatmeal and cream of wheat lol). Great breakfast withe the wife and little dude. We will be back! You should check it out. Cool little gem tucked away on MLK but we’ll worth the find.

Heavenly grits. Flavorful eggs. Perfectly crisp meats and free coffee if you eat in the restaurant. Prices are reasonable and the staff is professional and friendly. If you like a small town mom and pop historical feel , you’ll find Fannie Cakes charming.
