Agave Mexican Restaurant

If you want TRUE Mexican food (or even TexMex), the menu has it all. A friend recommended this place, and we drove out of the city just to give it a try.

It. was. worth. it.

This is the best Mexican sit-down restaurant near Charlotte. Our waitress, Karla, was incredibly attentive, friendly, and fast. I had never seen a menu distinguish between real and fake Mexican food, and everything from the REAL tamales de elote to the tacos de lengua was EXQUISITE. This place has something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for aguas frescas, fajitas, seafood, or tacos.

I would highly recommend taking a detour to dine here. We’ll be back!

I don’t eat much here but when I do the food always surprises me!
They have the best rice, and agua de piña! Oh and the tamales are phenomenal! I love how they added pineapple to my fajitas, usually when I ask elsewhere they won’t do it! And the employees are sweet and attentive, the place is cute as well! Will be back for fajitas!

They have some great food in here . Tatiana our server was great, she recommended us some menu items that were great . They have real Mexican food and a part of the menu is called “fake Mexican food” that refers to what often people mistake as Mexican food when it’s just Tex-Mex .

We had such a great fun lunch here. We decided to stop by for lunch after doing some tiring field work and it was a random decision to go to this place. So glad we decided to check it out because we found a gem. They have some authentic food items on the menu. And whatever we tried, we loved. Service was nice too! Will definitely go back whenever I am in the area!

I had to use my wife’s Google to write this. The best Mexican in 50 mile radius. This is no exaggeration. So went in today and requested of the manager and waiter that the chips and salsa keep flowing, charge extra if necessary. Also asked for paella without the work. Don’t want to peel shrimp, don’t want to crush crab legs. Also can you add the 8 muscles dish to the paella so the muscles sauce can go over the rice. Also requested margaritas pitcher for my wife, and Bloody Mary for me. They delivered exceptionally on every aspect and gave us such the wonderful taste and experience. Love this place. Bloody Mary was wonderful. My wife’s carnitas plate was exceptional. Love this place and it’s a must go to.

The atmosphere is welcoming the service on point. The food is absolutely delicious the drinks festive and dessert 🍮 delish especially the flan, authentic all around. I highly recommend to stop and try it out for yourself.

Everything we got was absolutely delicious. The pork carnitas were moist and tender. The carne asada with chorizo was so flavorful. The ceviche was perfect! I can't say enough about this place. Yoli took care of us and helped us pick out the best dishes!! Be sure to request Yoli!

Amazing food and fair prices. Nicely decorated but in a formal fast food location this is a worth while stop. I will be back.

The Shrimp was incredible and the 2 person meat sample platter could have easily fed three normal eaters.

Great meal and friendly service. The guacamole was great but the portion for the price was even better. The service time was on par for the most part but we did have an extended wait getting our check after the meal, probably because the place was busy. Some items were pricy but the menu was so varied that anyone on any budget or diet could find something great to enjoy. We can't wait to return in the future! Edit for May 2022: Agave is still great and getting better all the time.

Food was excellent, some of the best birria tacos Ive ever had! My wife loved that they had different kinds of tamales, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be making this one of our regular stops!

Great food! This is a very family oriented restaurant. I got the feeling there might be only one cook, so come prepared to relax and enjoy the fantastic chips and salsa. The salsa is fantastic. Your food will take a few minutes longer than the average Mexican restaurant, but it’s worth the wait. Hand made corn tortillas, fresh vegetables, high quality meats and lovingly prepared main and sides that are spiced and cooked to perfection. I have eaten many meals in Mexico and the SouthWestern US, and this is very authentic. Honestly it’s the best Mexican I’ve had North of Texas. The people are very nice. Go have a meal here, and as long as you aren’t in a big rush I guarantee you won’t regret it.

We have gotten Door Dash twice and we LOVE the authentic Mexican dishes. The birria tacos -- 🌮 OMG! There are no words adequate enough to explain the deliciousness. Just order them and see for yourself.

Delicious food, very attentive staff. We stopped here just passing through on our way to the mountains. If I lived here I would frequent this restaurant because we had such a great experience! Shout out to our fantastic waiter Sebastian!

If want traditional authentic Mexican food I highly recommend Agave, not only is the food amazing, the service is top notch! I recommend supporting this small family business and eating local.

Exactly how latin food, atmosphere, and dining experience combine to make for one of our most pleasurable supper we've gotten to enjoy. Great job, perfecto!

Been in Gaston county/belmont, and I’m so glad we found quality, authentic GOOD food. It’s really hard to find great restaurants, but this one is excellent

Being vegan was easy here. They have "real" & "fake" Mexican menu. On the fake one, they have a few vegetarian items that easily convert to vegan. What we had was delicious. Very authentic for fake Mexican. I can only imagine how good the real Mexican is! A nice touch with my tacos there was a charred jalapeno and fat green onion yum. Everyone was nice, and the a/c works almost too well. Yes, we'll go back!

1.5lb California Burrito was so good.
They have salsas with different heat levels and they were also pretty good.
