Union Diner

Awesome little diner I found while being in and around Gastonia. It was nice and clean inside. Plenty of parking outside also. The food was awesome, especially the beef tips over rice that I had. Their fries were really good too. My wife had their burger and it was very good too she said. Service from the staff was very good and our waitress was attentive. I’d like to come back try other things on their menu.

I got the ham & cheese omelet..which is kickin'..lots of flavor all on its own without the need of S&P...the Man & I split the pancakes which were tasttttyyy. The hash browns were the right side of crunchy & enough to make me wish my stomach was bigger...

The Man got the All American breakfast with the best home fries Ever! I swear they had a tiziki or greek yogurt yumminess that 🤤 ...people...you should have these before you die...just saying...

Like many places, they were short staffed...but our waitress was on fire!..🔥..Excellent service despite the packed house...

Union Diner is going on my destination list!

Stopped by here for lunch while passing through town. Service was excellent. Pork chops were cooked to perfection, homemade mashed potatoes, homemade pasta sauce. It’s not the flashiest location, but that’s part of the charm. If we were locals this would be a regular spot.

In todays experience 5 stars is uncommon but Union Diner Restaurant is well worth it. The service was fabulous from the moment we walked in up to the tine we left - the waitress (who is a relator helping out a friend) to the cook to the gentleman busing tables - just awesome. The food? Really good and very reasonably priced. Wanted to go back for dinner but they are only open for breakfast and lunch. We’ll be going ba though! Highly recommend

Considering that they just opened three weeks ago, I think they are doing a great job! It’s so nice to have a country diner within a few miles of my house. Some of the food is bland, but they are taking all suggestions seriously. The sides are all homemade (the mashed potatoes are just like I make them).

Great food and service. Love salmon on chef salad. Hard to find anywhere let alone cooks salmon perfectly

Great food and service! My wife and I shared the Baked Spaghetti. Very good. Simple salad and bread with meal.

My sister took me their for lunch. I didn't even know it was up and running and has been for 3 years and their hours are 7 to 3pm. I tell you their food was beyond delicious. My Sister and I were in heaven. I love soul food, I get the vegetable plate. I had to take half with me and the prices are reasonable. I'm in disbelief, everything was perfect, it was the perfect lunch, I could eat their everyday. The menu is extensive, a variety of burgers, subs, soul food etc. Go try them out you won't be disappointed.

Excellent Southern American cuisine. Good variety, sr citizen specials. Lunch I had incl beef liver w onions & gravy, brussels sprouts, cucumber salad & tea...abt $10. Good service, too.

We had breakfast for lunch and everything was cooked just right. This is a no frills, good old fashioned diner with food like momma used to make it. The French toast, sausage, and bacon were delicious. The eggs over easy were cooked just right! My wife and I would come back again.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Gaston County. You simply cannot beat their breakfast specials. Eggs, meat, a side, toast, and coffee for $7? You can barely make it at home for that price.The food is great, the prices are more than reasonable, and the staff are friendly. Lunch is a great option here as well. For traditional diner food, this is the place to be. For the Eastern side of the county, check out the Mount Holly Grill which has the same owners and same basic menu.

I love my experience coming to Union Diner ! The meal of beef tips over rice with green beans and fried okra is what dreams are made of ! I'm excited to come to the restaurant again and to partake in all the goodies they offer.

This is my new spot. Alani was a awesome server. Food was great. Got my food ridiculously fast. Clean pleasant environment. Couldn’t find a negative thing to say. If you like the homie mom and pop diner/restaurant. This is your kind of place

I've only done take out so far the food has been very good my personal faves so far are the pancakes OMG so good and their home fries with onions reminds me of my mom's when I was a kid 😋I've lived here in Gastonia for 5yrs now and I'm just now discovering this place so now I dont have to travel to Charlotte for home-cooked it's just around the corner 😉

Our Waitress was Krystal she was very polite and a sweet young lady...The liver and onions and gravy on the side was very delicious and tender and the cucumber salad is the bomb, very delicious too and I had greens as well...She explained to us all food is home cooked except for the okra! If you want delicious food and good service, you need to come to Union Diner, you'll be glad you did!!

It was moderately crowded, no wait. Staff was scurrying all around. Service started out a little slow but server was busy. She was friendly and smiled a lot.
Breakfast was delicious, and reasonably priced. Grits are the best restaurant grits ever.

Wonderful experience from the servers to the food. I was skeptical at first because I haven't ate great diner food since moving here. But this place was a slice of home and heaven. Would recommend to anyone looking for that home cooked taste with an affordable price.
