Amanda May Artistry

Amanda was great. I’ve only ever had my hair cut by one stylist my whole life up until now, and my last cut was about a year and a half or so ago. I was nervous going to someone else but Amanda listened great, let me know her thoughts and finished with a cut I was super happy and relieved about (I thought I was going to have to chop a lot of my length off but Amanda was able to keep so much of it!!)
The studio is so cute as well, such great vibes. Will be back soon and definitely referring to friends and family!!

Amanda is awesome. I get my hair done there and recently did a keratin treatment she does it like it should be done and it lasts forever. Many of the stylists in Charleston don’t know how to do it properly. She is great. I highly recommend her.

Amanda is amazing!! I have been going to her for well over six years, and I can’t imagine going to anyone else for any of my hair needs. Amanda is extremely knowledgeable about hair coloring and balayage and is always open to hearing what you might want to do with your cut/style. Amanda is the best! I do not like getting my hair done often so she gave me highlights that look amazing and have grown out beautifully (so I can go a few months in between cut and color.) Amanda makes my hair look so much better than I could imagine. Can’t wait for my next appointment.

Wedding planning is stressful and decision burnout is real. Amanda managed to take a lot of the pressure off on such an important day.
I’ve done hair and makeup trials with more than my fair share of stylists. Everyone kind of just does the same thing, and they don’t really have to be better than that since Charleston is a huge wedding destination. Lots of moisturizer, airbrush makeup, dramatic eyes, over the top glue on lashes that will inevitably fall off half way through the night, leave you shiny, greasy, and not looking like yourself or verging on drag queen. Not a bad look for some. Not what I wanted.
I’m so lucky to have found someone who really saw me as an individual. Amanda took the time to actually get to know me, the shape of my face, skin tone, texture of my hair, the wedding dress, venue. When she made suggestions about what would look good, and a few changes, I realized she envisioned what I was picturing, and how to make it better. She took into consideration where my up-do would fall on the neckline of my dress, even wind factors. She didn’t just try to copy a few generic pictures of hair/makeup I brought in. She made sure I stayed true to myself and didn’t just go along to be polite. Amanda cared that I was happy, was so flexible and accommodating, and would have redone my hair 10 times to make sure it was perfect…but she didn’t have to because she’s a pro.
This is why I didn’t feel stressed about how I was going to look for the everlasting weddingi photos. Hair and makeup was the one aspect I could sit back and completely trust someone else with.
I was taken care of and it turned out perfect.

Amanda made me feel incredibly comfortable during my first time coloring my hair. She listened carefully and gave me a natural but uplifting look. She is also a gifted confidant and has an empathetic ear like none other.

Amanda is a true hair artist! She does beautiful color work and anyone that I have ever sent to her has left more than pleased with her work!
