Update: Visited this amazing place again. Food was great, appetizers Queso Flamante is the best I've ever had. Shrimp enchiladas were very delicious and highly recommend them. Our server Joey was just a gem in making things right and educated me on the drinks and taste. He made our evening dinner just wonderful and special. We also want to thank our previous waiter, Eduardo. He was good on our first visit.

This was my first time stop at this amazing restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs. The food was amazing, and their queso fleamando was just out of this world. We had 2 drinks, which were a strawberry Margarita and an Arturos Margarita. For $16, 10oz the Arturo Margarita was awful. Had NO flavor, which should have been made with Patron and has a very distinctive taste. The one I received just had a bad taste. Tasted like water with poor quality vodka.
Again, our food was amazingly delicious, but bartender either is not aware of how to make drinks or just failed to do so on this day. Disappointed. For the price we paid we should've enjoyed every item we ordered.

El Jarro de Arturo is an excellent spot for dinner with friends or to have a celebratory (strong) chispa! To start, they serve their chips with fresh pico de gallo, and they have restaurant made corn tortillas! The fajitas are delicious and are a great portion size for the protein lovers.

This San Antonio gem remains a top pick for us. Even amid the bustling crowd during dinner, the speed of the food delivery held up admirably. The atmosphere exudes warmth, and the menu is a delight with its abundant choices. Brace yourself for sizable portions – perfect for sharing a hearty meal. A go-to spot that consistently satisfies both the palate and the craving for a welcoming dining experience.

Lunch group of eight were seated immediately. Service was rapid. Orders ranged from salad to tortilla soup, enchilada plates, chicken and beef tacos. Food was brought quickly and plates were hot. Chips were heated and salsa was fresh. Server was attentive and kept water glasses and drink glasses full and kept the chips and salsa refreshed. Great place to have lunch. First time I had lunch in El Jarro in 1976 after moving to San Antonio and it’s always the dependable place to go.

Great service. Great food and great atmosphere. You can easily tell why this restaurant is so popular. The service is spot on. Chips and salsa arrive at your table the moment you sit down. And if you are drinking - which I would recommend - their margaritas are wonderful. The food is delicious and come in large portions and while the restaurant is usually crowded - having a conversation is no problem. All in all if you are looking for an excellent Mexican restaurant - you should try el Jarro - I think you will be pleased.

I LOVE this place. My mother Susan worked at this restaurant when she was pregnant with me back in 88! So I’m sure that’s why I’m addicted to the salsa and Maria’s Tortillas!

Great food, service and atmosphere. Really good house margaritas, salsa wasn't overly salty nor were the delicious hard crispy chips. Highly recommend.

Excellent food as always! Do not make reservations online though, never works. Watch out for their margarita pitchers, they are awesome, but pricey. Definitely worth going to!

The food was delicious. Portion size is out of control, such an amazing value. The lunch plated buffet might be the Best Buy in town

I ordered the El Jarro #2 and it was delicious. The flour tortillas are made fresh! I also had the Mexican coffee (black coffee, Kahlu, and tequila)- yum. The restaurant is not wheelchair friendly right off the bat- tables needed to be moved around. However, the staff quickly and courteously responded to our need for additional space, which was greatly appreciated.

Very good Carne Asada. Other restaurants it's a very thin meat but here it's a thicker cut. Nice and tender with just the right amount of onions and bell peppers. Plus traditional sides. Very good! Plus the tortillas are made onsite and they're excellent!

Seems like a great longstanding family ran restaurant. Carne Asada was really good, flavorful, tender, juicy. Green chicken enchilada was delicious. I'm not a Mexican food lover but this was delicious

Truck drivers from Tennessee and everything was classy and food super good and drinks was so good and this is what we had my husband had red snapper and I had a beef and chicken plate fabulous. I hope to visit again . Thank you for your service .

I’ve come here now on several occasions and the food does not disappoint. I’ve had the specials as well as some of the more traditional Mexican fare and it’s always incredible. Their Mexican martinis are DANGEROUS so consume with caution. I love coming here with larger groups as they are so accommodating.

Folks, if you live, work around 281 and bitters area and all around SA looking for authentic, delicious, lip smacking mexican food that has it's own flare then look no further. From beginning to end, our waiter Mauricio was excellent in service. I ordered chicken enchiladas suizas and boy all I gotta say was YUMMIE!!!! Our margaritas from strawberry to lime were also perfect blend. Overall A++++ service on food, hospitality and drinks. Scenary was great.Sorry I can't give a break down on price per plates due to it being a company dinner....

I forgot to take a photo of my dinner until after I started eating. Lol. I ordered the cheese chile relleno. It was the largest one I've ever had! Delish!

Our family has been going to El Jarro for over 30 years! The food is delicious, the service is great, and the atmosphere is very welcoming.

Love to meet my girlfriend here and it doesn't matter what u order everything is yumminess. Tuna skewer a must! Appetizer bowls is a meal itself. Service is always good 😊
