What an ABSOLUTE TREASURE!! I’ve been coming here for the last several years when I’m in town on business…love it!!

From the coffee and books to the art displays this place is a true gem! I live in Austin, TX and WISH we had spots like this!! This place truly rises above the rest and adds that special little joy when I’m in town :)

Love this book store! Locally owned and has a great vibe! There is a small coffee shop with seating inside. Great variety of books, of all kinds. They have a fantastic kids section. A small section of pre owned and all the new releases. Everyone was friendly and we received great service. Would recommend stopping if you are in the area. I didn’t get a ton of pictures this visit.

The CUTEST little haven for book lovers, art lovers, and coffee lovers alike! Full of books-- both new and used-- from every genre, plus lots of local art and a great cafe to hang out at while you read your new book(s). Definitely stop by Taylor Books in downtown Charleston if you're in the area!

Delicious!! We ordered a vanilla blast & a cinnamon honey salted caramel latte from their board of specials. Phenomenal coffee! Not too sweet and not too bitter. The Nutella croissant is a must try! It has a very chill relaxed atmosphere with a great selection of books to buy and a cute pottery room. We will definitely stop by again on our way through.

Best book shop I’ve been to , wow I am amazed , the coffee shop inside the book store is the best in all of West Virginia , try iced white chocolate mocha and the prices were great . The best coffee shop for espresso drinks locally . Highly recommend this cafe . I had bad bad bad expierneces with coffee around here until the really cool bakery down the street suggest them.

My 16 year old daughter and I were in town for the weekend and found this welcoming coffee/art/book store. The coffee was really good and the book selection was fantastic. The employees were so nice but also knowledgeable about helping us find a certain book we were looking for. You definitely need to take the time and stop by this adorable little place, even if it's for just a coffee.

Taylor Books is definitely the best bookstore and café in downtown Charleston, West Virginia. It occupies a large groundfloor space at 226 Capitol Street, and the popular place is divided into three distinct areas: books, café and the art gallery. You can also find and purchase any of numerous gift items, magazines, and a variety of greeting cards.

If you are looking for a particular book not on the shelves, either paperback or hardcover, it may be ordered for you and most likely you’ll have it within several days or a week.

This bookstore attracts a steady flow of customers: residents, tourists, professionals, students and workers from area businesses.

On Fridays and Saturdays in the evenings, Taylor Books’ theater shows films, downstairs, and live musical entertainment in the main front room.

You may order delicious freshly-made soups, chili, sandwiches, salads and various homemade cakes, muffins, quiches and pies. Beers and domestic wines are also sold, and, of course, teas and freshly-brewed coffees.

The several seating areas at Taylor Books include a comfortable leather sofa and chair, a curved booth for five, a long cushioned bench and fifteen small round tables with chairs.

There is also a conference table with several chairs where some people sit while enjoying their food and drinks and using their laptop computer, iPad or portable telephone.

The WiFi is always strong and reliable. Taylor Books is air-conditioned which is a great relief on a hot and humid summer day.

Many people stop by here daily to eat or snack, enjoy various coffees and teas, and work or relax.

If you order coffee in a mug, you can request two free refills. Why go to a Starbucks when a Taylor Books is so much better?

A brother frequents Taylor Books almost every day. He meets and greets his friends and various acquaintances as well as the always-polite, efficient and friendly staff. You will likely meet all sorts of interesting people, but since it’s quiet inside. There are a few benches outside where you may also sit.

Honestly, I do not know what I would have done while visiting Charleston for five weeks without Taylor Books.

I thank the pleasant owner, Dan, for making Taylor Books one of the best shops in downtown Charleston.

I do not often rate a business five stars for my reviews, but Taylor Books really deserves to be rated five+ stars. It is truly a special business in Charleston, West Virginia.

This was honestly one of the places I was most excited to see when we came to visit Charleston. It did not disappoint!

It has a relaxing atmosphere. No one rushed you or looked at you like you needed to leave. We enjoyed exploring the books and art; the coffee smelled amazing!

If I lived nearby this would definitely be a local hangout for me. 😁

Really good coffee and fun book store. Had a fresh made quiche when I was there. Didn't get one but could have had a mimosa with the breakfast. Coffee shop also turns into a bar that serves beer and wine. Cute art gallery attached as well.

This spot has an awesome selection of books, and a lovely little children's section with blocks and a small table. The coffee is tucked away a bit and has its own seating area. The coffee was okay, they serve it all in to-go cups which isn't my favorite. I heard a lot of people ordering their lattes, so maybe those are better than the cappuccino I got. We got tiramisu as well which was actually really good! It looks like an awesome place to cozy in with a good book, or to get a gift! Wish we had more time to browse!

This is not only a unique book store its also a well known coffee place that Charlestonians hang out.
I would say this is the most popular place for people to visit with friends and have a cuppa.
The decor is unique, inviting and a great atmosphere for all individuals.
There are many items other than books and coffee at Taylors.
Such as baked goods, lunch items, greeting cards and fantastic finger puppets.
If your in the Charleston area don’t miss out on this Book and Coffee Haven.

Hey!

I spent 2 days working from the coffee shop/bookshop while traveling! I just LOVE the place.
The location is really good, the staff is super friendly and helpful, my oat milk cappuccino was the perfect temperature and tasty.
The vibe, in general, is positive and open-minded!
Please stop by for a coffee or grab-and-go snack.

p.s. If you ever consider adding some healthy, no added sugar, and fewer calories sweets, please let me know. I’ll be happy to partner.

Good luck 🤍
