Tricky Fish

Just moved to Charleston so of course I had to come try out a new restaurant. So glad we chose Tricky Fish! The tacos were amazing. Large portions, great flavor, probably some of the best beans I've had. The staff was super nice and welcomed us. Love the patio seating. I've heard great things about the hush puppies as well so we will definitely be back!!

Stopped here on a road trip from SC back to OH and it was an absolutely pleasure of an experience! The restaurant itself is very cute offering outdoor seating on a front patio, not to mention it was very conveniently located right off the highway. The server was so friendly and very helpful with meal recommendations. And then the food. The food 🤌🏼. Easily one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. I had the Mahi Tacos and they were so delicious I literally didn’t eat a chip until I finished them both (not to mention they’re very good sized tacos & not the super small ones you’d expect) I just couldn’t put them down! & I’m not a big guacamole gal, but oh my gosh the guac was so fresh and yummy, as was the salsa! My mom got the Crab Cake Po Bo Sandwich & was pleasantly surprised by the amazing flavors, she puts ketchup on literally everything, didn’t need to use a drop 😂 I will 100% make this a regular stop when traveling, and I’m the “let’s try somewhere new” type of person. Highly recommend :)

If you don’t try the vegan crab cake sandwich, you’re missing out on one of the best meat substitutions in West Virginia. This sandwich tasted like an authentic Maryland crab cake. The vibe is fun, colorful, and lively. The staff are aware of plant-based preferences, and I felt confident that there wouldn’t be any accidental cheese or mayo in our takeout order. I love the patio seating and draped lights!

The Buffalo shrimp was so awesome. As was the Barbque with homemade Cole slaw and the hotdogs. The service was also great.

This place is amazing! Stopped here on a Saturday night on the way home. These were the best tacos I ever had and even though they were busy and there was one person doing everything, my food still came out faster than the chain restaurants! I would highly recommend for anyone looking for good food, good times, and good service, will definitely be back next time I'm in the area! Also conveniently located across the street from the capitol complex and right off the freeway, look for the gravel parking lot!

Stopped for a quick lunch while traveling with 2 dogs. Waitress was awesome. Immediately brought out bowls of ice water for the pups. She recommended the mahi tacos which were outstanding! Service was very fast as we were there right after opening. Will stop here again!

Excellent service, excellent food! Seasoned well and great atmosphere, a must visit if Your in the area! Grilled shrimp taco and Oyster basket, Tricky Fish sauce is a great addition as well!

Found this place while traveling South. We both had the catfish sandwich. Very good! Coleslaw was good also. Nice little place! Very friendly!

Went in between lunch and dinner time. Service was good and fast. Hush puppies appetizer was fantastic. We both had tacos - bbq pork and Caribbean jerk mahi mahi. Both were really good. The food was definitely good, but for the price, the meal was spectacular. Highly recommend.

Under new ownership I was a bit hesitant, but I assure you that everything was wonderful! Tried the special, coconut shrimp tacos were phenomenal! Our server. Charles took great care of us! Covid stipulations were well met!

Me and my friends were looking for a place to eat lunch on and a Sunday, and we could not have been happier! We went because the food was at a great price and they had great reviews and they were not wrong. I had the crab cake with red beans and rice and ate every bite. The staff was so nice and friendly! If you ever have a chance to stop in I promise you won't regret it

It was awesome!!! Loved our server! The hotdogs were sssssooo good! Our server was awesome with our granddaughter!! 10 out 10!

Great food, great beer, the outside dining was also great. Our waiter was very nice even though they were understaffed. Can't wait to go again.

So totally delicious!!! A perfect pause in our very long road trip. I had no idea it was going to be that good- and top knotch service from Dylan! We had lobster roll, giant shrimp burrito, jerk and classic hot wings, & tacos, everything was YUMMY! We can't wait to travel back and plan to try the bluegrass grill too! Thank you tricky fish!

I stopped in Charleston overnight looking for a local place with delicious food that didn't cost a fortune. Tricky Fish filled the bill perfectly! Friendly folks and delicious food at a reasonable price in a clean, quirky setting.

Highly recommend the shrimp tacos with jerk seasoning.

So yeah, price per quantity may throw you off as some others have indicated, but I'm sorry this place is totally on point. The food is delicious. The service is amazing. The atmosphere is genuine and eclectic. So glad I stumble upon this gem while going to a track meet at Laidly Field. If you are a foodie, and you understand price per quality instead of quantity, GO! Besides, if your not full after just eating a regular menu item, then your eating to damn much. I will be back. Thanks Dillan and crew for an awesome experience.

I absolutely love the new deconstructed version of the mahi fish tacos! It gives you the option to choose how much of the fixings to add; I prefer to eat mine with a fork, so it’s easier than eating it out of the shell. The fish was perfectly blackened and grilled to perfection! I also love that I can order the tofu wings from Bluegrass at Tricky! Thanks for always making a party in my tummy, y’all! 🦋💛🌸
