Orthopedics of Illinois

Please, please read this review to the fullest before going to Orthopedics of Illinois. I originally went to Ortho of IL due to an old injury sustained in grad school. I was happy with the care I received. This was around October of 2021.

Several months passed...no bill. A few more months pas...no bill. I made inquiries to no avail. Still no bill. Eventually I receive a bill and I make a payment. I didn't pay the entire bill yet due to it's high amount. As long as I continue to make payments I'm OK.

Now is where the fun starts. I never received another bill. I called. No bill. I called again. No bill. I contacted my insurance to see what the amount of the bill should be, made out a check, and mailed it. Approximately two weeks later Ortho of IL returned the check to me. No reason why.

I decide to try again and mailed the exact same check to them again. They returned it with a post-it note saying I had been taken to collections and must make payment thru that company.

About 3 weeks later a strange letter and bill arrive from a collection agency. Not only were they demanding payment in full or legal action would be taken, they had tacked on hundreds of dollars in fees.

Remember, I NEVER RECEIVED A BILL. Now I have made numerous attempts to make nice-nice with the collection agency all to no avail.

Legal action has started...over a bill I never received...and made two attempts to pay anyway.

My normal medical bill has ballooned to well over a thousand dollars. My attorney is charging over $300 per hour. Every letter he drafts is $350.

Do yourself a favor and run to any other orthopedic place. If you check out their Facebook page you will notice that they do not allow reviews to be posted on their site. There's a reason for this!!!!

Run, walk, scoot, skate...as far away from this place as you can. I do believe I will prevail but we will more than likely be headed straight to court. This will end up costing me thousands and will utterly destroy my credit all because of a bill Ortho of IL never sent me...but I tried to pay anyway...twice.
