Clara's on the River

Stopped in before the Bret Michaels concert. First time here, service was great and food was excellent. I had the Chicken Tortellini and the stuffed bread stick. Very good. We also had the spinach, crab, artichoke dip with tortilla chips. Definitely be back and recommend!

Clara's has been on my list for quite awhile. Our visit did not disappoint! The menu is extensive, so there were quite a few options to choose from. Everything we had was amazing. Our server was awesome as well. We loved being able to walk around and get a feel for what it had been in the past. Absolutely did not disappoint!!

Great place to stop for a leisurely upscale lunch just off I-94 in the Detroit-Chicago corridor. Restored Michigan Central railroad depot, right along the river in downtown Battle Creek. Had a yummy Cobb salad, lots of menu choices. Gotta stop again in summer to enjoy the outdoors seating along the river.

I had seen this place in an article, so I put it on my list of places to see. I'm very glad I did, and I would love to go back! The food was amazing, the look of the place was very homey and well lit. They also had the best coleslaw I have ever had.

Perfect place to hold my great grandma 104th birthday. The staff did an amazing job accommodating us. The food was good. And all 6 generations that attended enjoyed themselves. It's not every day a person turns 104 and lived in area most of her life so it was a perfect place to celebrate.

My husband and I decided to take a walk down memory lane after eating our fill of Free Cereal at the 2023 National Cereal Festival last Saturday as no one should live on carbs and milk alone, so to speak. On the way back to our car, we decided to have Brunch at Clara's on the River. This location was visiting an old friend as we used to frequent Clara's in Lansing very often. This train station setting is more sprawling than its more vertical Predecessor. The historical items, as well as the very familiar Stained Glass lamps hanging over the dining tables, were a visual delight.

The menu seemed just as extensive as we remembered it (albeit the print is much smaller). We reminisced over the menu items that were standard from the past Clara's outings. My husband settled on his old standby of the Cowcatcher Burger; I had the Quiche Lorraine with a House salad, creamy bacon dressing on the side. The food and service were exceptional. It was a joy to be reacquainted with Clara's in the Battle Creek iteration. We will return in the future.

Quality the enjoyable experience, very felpful & attentive staff, beautiful setup, especially the outside seating area, right next to a walkway on the river. Overall, a beautiful experience that we highly recommend for an enjoyable evening.

First time dining in at a restaurant in Battle Creek and the experience was great! This is an old train station turned into a restaurant. Loved the ambience and the service. Our server was super friendly and always smiling! They have a wide selection of food and beverages, with reasonable portion sizes. They have decent number of vegetarian options as well. There is plenty of seating and they even have a fireplace, which was pretty neat. Definitely worth checking out!

Ate here a couple days ago and the food was wonderful! The last time I had been here was 15-20 years ago and I remember it being just as good then. We had seafood enchiladas, mashed potatoes, fettucini alfredo, yeast rolls, and a vanilla malt. We were stuffed! Historical atmosphere since it was a former train station--and it's beautiful! Walking trails nearby along the water make for a pleasant post-meal meander.

Lovely restaurant, however the lighting where we were seated was a little dark had to use my phone flashlight to see the menu. We were a large party and the servers were great in taking our orders and the kitchen staff getting the food out to us was timely. I loved my dish Mississippi Shrimp Pasta! I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends when visiting Battle Creek. Thank you for an enjoyable, tasty dining experience!😊

I love Clara's. It is my go-to spot for self dates and normal dates. In the summertime, i love their outdoor seating. The food is also amazing every time, and they have a great selection of wine as well.

We were there as guests. There were ten of us and our waitress was courteous and efficient. Our beverage order was quick and accurate. Our meals were delivered on a reasonable time, accurate and delicious. Service was excellent.

Cool restaurant inside a historic train depot. Loved the decorations. Large outdoor seating area under the shade of big trees. The location is along side of the gorgeous river walk.

I had a vegetarian pizza with added sausage. It was really good. I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo. I highly recommend the basket of sweet rolls. They are dripping with butter. I would ask for no butter next time I went, but they were delicious!

Wide wonderful menu with plenty of Gluten Free menu items. Historical building inside. Three piece jazz combo playing in the garden on the river where we ate. A must visit in Battle Creek. Ask for Max as your waitress. She's detailed and 👌 awesome. Holiday dinner for 30 now was great as well.

Clara's has always been a favorite, and I was glad I got a chance to go back with my besties on this visit! I love their French Onion Soup and all the varieties of food they offer! If you ever get to Battle Creek, include Clara's as one of your stops for food. You're sure to find something you like!!!

Will definitely go back! Amazing food and drinks! We were starved so didn’t take time for pictures! But atmosphere is very comfortable very reasonable price and service was great! Will definitely be back for brunch!

Happy accident we landed here. We were actually looking for parking for a neighboring restaurant and stumbled on this place. Very nice inside, but we sat on the patio. Nice scenery outside. The artichoke dip was probably the best I've had, and they've got the good ranch. And for a fancier restaurant the prices weren't bad. Two entrees, appetizer, desert, and two liquor drinks was like 65 bucks. Also our waitress was attentive and prompt.
