Very friendly, helpful staff. Very large, modern museum for a college. A large collection of American artists. Probably one of the best museums in the country and its free.

Fantastic collection of American painting. Never ceased to amaze me how much this small Maine museum had to offer. As a Skowhegan alumni I'm glad to have seen it.

Top class art museum! They have many inspirational and thought provoking works from across time (they have a great Hellenistic collection for such a small in university). There was a tasteful homage to native American artists. They even had a weiwei piece that I'm especially fond of. I didn't have enough time to see all of the work... And there was a whole wing closed down while a new collection was being installed!

I was not expecting to experience such a quality collection when I showed up on a friend's recommendation. I have to return because I could only scratch the surface in my 3 hour tour.

This museum is a treasure in our community, and it is surprising that more locals do not avail themselves of it. The museum is free, with a tasteful donation box at the front desk. Visitors can come in without needing to interact with staff unless they want to.

Facility is well equipped with maps and seating.

Going to a museum with a five year old is like being on a game show where you get points for how quickly you can view and read about each piece before your kid says they are bored. I think we made it almost an hour here, so I will take the 🏆

They were currently in the process of adding a new exhibit so part of the museum was closed but even with that there were plenty of beautiful pieces to enjoy

Town of Skowhegan by Yvonne Jacquette was definitely the favorite piece of the day. My five year old really loved how the artist was able to make the vehicles on the bridge look like they were going fast. 🚗💨

Great museum with collections of modern, American, folk, western, sculpture, photography, world art, and more. Admission is free which is always a plus. I think you could really see everything in the museum in about 3 hours. Parking is plentiful and there is a small gift store and Cafe on site. Definitely recommended!

I cannot say enough good things about this museum. It is free, open to the public, and has plenty of accessible, free parking.

The collections are amazing and even the "non-artsy" patron will be amazed at how many artists he'll be sure to recognize, if not by work, then by name

Please take your family to enjoy this local treasure house! Art is for everyone!

Outstanding, free to the public, museum. Rather than hocking art donations like Harvard does, Colby builds additions. Spacious and beautifully curated. Has hundreds of Whistler works. Several artists donate their work, e.g. Alex Katz. Has a small coffee and snack shop. I love this museum, and visit every time I'm in Maine. I could go on and on with praise. Have posted my favorite work.

I don't have a ton to say as my wife and I only stopped by briefly as a detour from traveling.

From what we did see, this museum had a quite a diverse collection of art, mostly American. It was far larger than expected, we were overwhelmed but in a good way. There is a lot to see here if you are willing to explore.

One of the best parts: It's free to the public. We will be back when we can take more time to appreciate the collection!

Plan at least two hours or three for this excellent collection. Free admission. Nearby parking. Note to the less able-bodied: galleries are wheelchair-accessible but there are heavy glass push-pull doors everywhere beginning with the entry door.

Such a great place to check out whether your spending an hour or the day. It's so big lots to look at and it's free. The Colby campus is always changing, but the art museum is easy to find.

Wonderful museum. Has a Starbucks booth inside, which helped me stay alert for the long drive back to Aroostook County. The exhibition was displayed in a manner that allowed viewers to follow the progression of the artist's interest in his subject. Various permanent exhibits are on display, along with the temporary rotating exhibits. Free parking is available, and there is no admission charge for the museum. Worth the trip!

This museum is interesting. You would not consider it a breathtaking expression of contemporary art, nor the keeper of classic pieces, but instead an interesting blend of new and old. The flow makes it one of the most interesting to behold.

There is one room in particular that had such an energy ✨ that I wanted to lay down in the middle of the room and soak it all in. As someone with a fear of large statues, I found the pieces to be reasonable in size. There is one area that has large scale faces which can be a bit unnerving, and interesting at the same time.

The best part of this museum? It's free!! There aren't many interesting things to do in Waterville, but this is a must see if you are visiting the area, and wondering what to do.
