Very good food and service. The staff is very nice. My daughter is vegetarian and they were so nice to make her a special meal without meat.

I was filled and left with wanting more...and more. Friendly service, delicious food ...I got chicken Kay Kay with cheese and chicken/beef suqaar with rice. Definitely coming back and in fact I'm gonna take some for home back to Chicago.

Had their fish and beef sambusas. Their fish sambusas are tasty and have a hint of coconut. The beef sambusas are flavorful with many spices but not spicy. Enjoyed them with my daughter and her friends for her birthday.

First time trying this place out. Portions are big & food is delicious. The prices are fair & the people are nice. Would definitely eat there again.

Food was delicious! Portions was fabulous as always, I had the goat meat and rice which I love . I get the same thing as when I'm in the city when I go downtown Minneapolis across the street from Augustana nursing home. I love my driver we stopped by here on my way home from one of my appointments he treats me so good 😁😁😁 . But everything on the menu is great I recommended it all and the server was great and treat you like family as always. Grape soda of course

I don't know what all these one stars reviews are on about. So let me tell you something. This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Today I ordered "special" goat meat and spaghetti that came with a pop can and banana. I got pepsi. 2 bur (fried flatbread), A mixed smoothie, and tea. Which was $28.50 in total with the amount I got. Well worth it. First I tried the bur. In which it taste what you expect it to be with a slightly sweet undertone. HOWEVER, dipped with their tea is a different story. It's so good! They really compliment each other. After finishing up, I got to trying their mixed fruit smoothie which is what you expect it. Pretty good! Now let me get to the part where I came to really write this review. THAT "special" goat meat and spaghetti... let me tell you something.. That was DANGEROUSLY good! The goat meat was absolutely tender, juicy and full of flavor. Probably the best somali goat meat I've had in a long time and I've had plenty! The spaghetti was robust in flavor. As embarrassing it is to admit I kept moaning how good it was with every bite.. seriously, compliments to the chef that made my food. Absolutely an amazing experience! Sorry couldn't show any pictures. It was so good I couldn't stop myself from eating the plate clean! Truly a 👨‍🍳💋🤌

Don't let the simple deli cafe style fool you. You're in for a treat!
A most excellent lunch with generous proportions. I asked our server to order his personal favorite for me and I was delighted. Kay kay was a new dish to me and full of delicious flavors and fresh vegetables. A streaming cup of chai tea to top it off was prefect. I will certainly be back for the food, but also the true kindness and enjoyable staff. Smiles and good natured laughter made this a lovely choice for lunch.

We had the chicken Ke Ke and the beef Suqaar. They were both delicious. We don’t live anywhere near Burnsville, but we are scheming a reason to come back and try more dishes.

I had a wonderful experience eating at Tawakal. This was my first time eating Somalian food and after sharing a plater, I was able to try several items. The food here tasted amazing, and it was very clear that this menu is created with care and attention to detail and tradition. The different layers of flavor and spice were very enjoyable and unlike anything I've eaten before. The service was fast and very friendly. This was a great first time experience and I can't wait to go back and eat here again!

First time there . Just came from tx and wanted to try something different. Driving around to see what I should get to eat. I saw this place and decided to try. GREAT FOOD. Staff was friendly and got my food in 20 seconds.

We went there at the spur of the moment and ended up loving it. Having been to Africa, some of the spices and scents brought me right back to that incredible country.
The food was VERY good and not too spicy. The most impressive however is the accommodation of the entire staff from behind the counter to the server.
This is one restaurant that is well worth multiple visits for a unique experience. This is the best way to experience Africa without actually going there.

Deliciois food+ Friendly service

$11.00 can go a long way at Tawakal. Their portions are family sized for one. Leftovers are always good.

Goat lunch special: It was excellent. You can't taste that goat meat flavor so you know they used the right spices to marinade and mask it.

Samosa: flaky on the outside and savory packed fillings on the inside.

Banana: I read afterwards that I was suppose to eat the banana with their spiced rice. I was confused at first but now I know!

Service: i can't say enough on how much I appreciated the young man's enthusiasm and friendliness in serving us.

Awesome flavors, authentic, large portions.

Authenticity is key! This is real, good food. The beef and goat are amazing and are cooked for hours with the perfect seasoning. Only need a snack? Try the sambusa. Flacky, crunchy, spicy and filled with the best mixture of meat and vegitables. Eat your heart out! Even if it's a drive for you, it is worth it.

The food was excellent, the service was impressive in that they gave us FREE food that we had not even requested!

We sit down and they ask if we want a free sample of their soup, and they gave us a whole bowl! On top of that, they gave us some fruit they had. I do recommend for delicious African food and great, polite service!

Delicious food. It's indescribable how good it is. Good portion sizes. Very friendly staff. Served very quickly. I can't wait to go back there.
