Love this place! Cozy vibes, great people and yummy food. My go to coffee place, today I tried the french toast special and it was everything I imagined so so good with their homemade whipped cream.

P.S- If you ever go in and see the chicken salad in the fridge, get it!! One of my favorites, great in wraps, salads or with chips.

So good we order takeout whenever we can’t be there in person! Bags come with inspirational quotes- lovely touch. Cafe atmosphere is always welcoming with indoor & outdoor seating and great staff! French toast is worth cheating on your diet!

I have been going to the freight house for years and always have a wonderful experience. It’s one of my favorite spots in town. Donna (owner) is usually always present and assures quality service food and atmosphere. I love Donnas dads chili as well as one of my staple orders, a mushroom onion Gouda omelette. The ketchup is home made! Love the vibe and decor inside too ! I often don’t have the time to but can sit here for hours!

Great stop in Mahopac. The owner and staff are great. Such a beautiful story. The place is awesome inside. Best coffee and drinks anywhere. Avocado 🥑 [2] Toast was delicious ask for 2 eggs 😉 Highly recommended.

My wife and recently moved to Putnam County from the city, and we were in search of someplace where we could chill, relax, and have fresh squeeze mimosas in the area. This place was perfect. Loved the service. Love the atmosphere, loved the food and their mimosas were delicious!

Nice vibe, great coffee, yummy food, friendly staff, live music, free wifi, and pleanty of comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. Using the bike path and don't have time to stop? They even have a bike path service station and can send coffee up to you. This is a great place to take a break from the day or bring your work with you. 10/10 would recommend.

Cute, quaint hangout with great food - I read one review in which they said they didn’t like the food. Well, if you’re used to fast food or chain restaurant garbage then you wouldn’t like the fresh, made to order really delicious food they have here. My wife and I had a lovely lunch in a great atmosphere. Gotta love this place!

Wonderful casual atmosphere, hosted a shower. Everyone relaxed, the food was excellent, could not have been better.

I love the decor at the Freight House. They have outdoor seating but we came on a Sunday on a soggy weather so we were not able to enjoy our meals outside. Coffee is self served and they offer different flavors. "Freight House " Coffee is strong and we love it that way. Just the flavorful toasted taste Without the burnt taste. If you are dining in, mugs are available. If you want coffee to be served piping hot like we do, just asked them to zap it and they would gladly do it for you.

Menu is provided to you once seated and once you know what to order, you go upfront and placed them. The dishes will be served when ready. If you are familiar with 9W market, the set up is similar however Freight house is cozier. On a Sunday , around noon, a guitarist started to perform inside. Being seated inside, the sound system didn't work for our sensitive ears ... lol , the music played was good though. If seated outside, would be perfect.

Now onto to our breakfast orders:

Putnam - delicious. For next time, we will request the maple syrup on the side because it was too much for our liking.

Mushroom toast - delicious. I would request kale cooked well for next visit as I want my kale well cooked .

French toast - very good

I would definitely be back ! Staff are very accommodating, male and female!

Stopped off here during my long bike ride on the trail way. Loved how the ice was actually coffee in my iced coffee. Sandwich was good too! The girl at the counter was super sweet and patient with me asking questions and making up my mind. If I ever bike around there again I’ll be back!

Love this place. A favorite spot of mine when I am in Mahopac. Healthy, delicious eats. And love the charming atmosphere and friendly staff. So good!

The Freight House is one of my favorite local spots. Tucked away, right off of Route 6, I often frequent The Freight House to sit outside and enjoy the tranquil garden overlooking the bike path.

Donna and her crew are phenomenal. The atmosphere both inside and outside feels like a second home. The seating is comfortable, there’s always old school music playing (sometimes local bands also), and you can tell the food is made with love.

While a little pricier than your typical “hometown joint,” the food and coffee are worth every penny. Donna focuses on delivering only quality, locally sourced, farm fresh ingredients. Condiments and side dishes are all handmade with no additional additives or preservatives. A few of my favorite dishes are the Sautéed Veggie Bowl, the Breakfast Bowl, and the Croissant French Toast, which is to die for!

I also can’t emphasize the quality of the coffee enough! It is easily the BEST local coffee in the area. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, try the Cooper Special which has a great mix of mocha and hazelnut syrup.

The staff is always super friendly and accommodating. I routinely spend hours here just relaxing and vibing out in this sweet gem of a place. If you haven’t visited yet, do yourself a favor and stop by, you won’t be disappointed you did.

What a great place. Warm and welcoming with a varied menu and a bar. I got something to go, but will definitely return to check out the nightlife. A little hard to find - in the back of the lot, against the old RR tracks/walking path. So turn when your GPS tells you.

What a fantastic cafe. The atmosphere is beautiful, food is fabulous, staff is welcoming and so many unique tea and coffee selections! They hold special events, music, and more. I can't wait to go back again. The owner Donna is the best!

Happened upon this place for brunch on a Saturday. So glad I did! Besides the really fun atmosphere, the staff is just awesome. I had a bunch of questions while ordering and she had tons of really helpful and delicious suggestions. Healthy local food. Farm to table juicing (awesome); I got a grapefruit juice with orange juice ice cubes in it. I'm gluten free, they were totally accommodating. I got an omelet with carmelized onions, mushrooms, peppered bacon, and avocado on the side. Special acknowledgement to Ivanna; she is apparently new but was the woman that helped us make our order. Owner took the time to greet customers and say hi to everyone. This place is top notch.

Excellent menu. Fresh squeezed juice, yummy pancakes, local art for sale, and an adorable old time ambiance. Can't wait to go back for cocktails! Extra point because their ice cube game is strong. Your order iced coffee? You get coffee ice cubes! Fresh squeezed OJ? OJ ice cubes! Love that.

Stopped by after a walking tour of The Old Put. It had been pointed out during the tour because it is the old freight house. Food was great. Loved the Breakfast Bowl. Very cute place. Would definitely go back.
