Wonderful place for families or birthdays! The show they put on before serving is amazing! Wait time is a little slow but they were busy, overall... Worth every penny!

Food was good but be prepared as there is an 18% gratuity added to your bill and the normal decency to tip is a little confusing.

Been a while since we've had Habachi, but Kobu does it right and we enjoyed not only our meal, but the entertainment and service as well. Would recommend! Will return...

We visited Kobu last night because I had a craving for Hibachi! This place did not disappoint! The food was excellent, and the cook told us it was his first day on the job. My two boys who can be picky eaters at a hibachi restaurant were gobbling down their food. The service was great. The servers/wait staff were on top of everything. The place is really cute and very large. We will definitely go back! Would recommend!

Best lychee martini in Mahopac. Sushi is always delicious. The specialty rolls are big and tasty.

Amazing views, and details in the construction. The atmosphere is worth the visit alone. We sampled some appetizers, then settled on a few sushi rolls. During the visit we had 3 servers, they were pleasant, and were concerned that all was well and we were happy. We were. In addition to sushi they have traditional favorites and cooked foods as well. There is a large interior bar, ready to make after dining a nice spot to do a drink and view the lake.

This place is awesome. Great atmosphere right on to lake and to best sushi within 50 miles. Not cheap, but not overpriced. Seriously though, the sushi, sashimi and Maki rolls are killer!

And for a Japanese place the actually have Captain Lawrence and Goose island. It's quite rate to have decent bear in places such as these.

I will be coming here at least twice a month!

Service and accommodations were terrific! We were suppose to sit by the hibachi grill but one in our party had a bad reaction to the smoke from the grill. We were a party of 10 and they quickly set up tables on the other side of the restaurant and settled us in. They went out of their way for us! The Rolls, Sushi and dinners were delicious!

Such an easy restaurant atmosphere. You can dress up or not. The food is great! Goza is one of the best, never taste rubbery. Hard working staff. I enjoy eating here.

The food was delicious and plentiful. We did The Hibachi Grill as well as ordered some sushi and everything was excellent.

Have eaten there many a time, have picked up takeout many a time. Service seems to be better when dining in, but still decent for takeout. Especially appreciated that they were careful to accommodate a dietary restriction.

My only criticism is -- and not just at Kobu, but many places serving sushi -- that they packed cold sushi on top of hot noodles in one bag. The sushi got warm-ish, the noodles got cold-ish. That practice saves bags, perhaps, but doesn't do justice to the kitchen staff working to put out their best, detracts much from overall quality. When I pointed that out, they quickly repackaged it for us. In the end, it was a delicious meal, and we'll order from them again soon.

The best Asian cuisine in the Mahopac area. Great location in the downtown area. They offer outdoor seating and a full bar while overlooking Lake Mahopac.

Delicious food! Great atmosphere!

Have been here quite a few times. Always Excellent food on both the hibachi side and the dining room side. There is a nice outdoor patio with bar that over looks the lake and marina. There are a couple docks that you can pull up to on your boat to enjoy lunch or dinner. On the dining room side is a another bar. There is also a sushi bar inside. It is always very clean. The staff is always polite and friendly. The owners are awesome as well. Will definitely be going back.
