Miss this place dearly. Best clam bake ever. Normal menue always satisfied. Bar and drinks outstanding , a wonderful stop. Can't find a warmer welcoming place to relax.

Absolutely amazing! From start to finish everything was perfection. We started with Muscles and then we had the Halibut special with summer vegetables.

This is becoming a favorite place of ours since moving closer to the area. Small and cozy and service is great! All the food we've had so far has been extremely good and perfect sized portions.

Server was delightful... food yummy... hopefully a bit bigger menu soon....

The food here is absolutely amazing. Chef John is simply the best. Great intimate atmosphere & the patio area is secluded & gorgeous

Kind of amazed that we live one city over and never heard of this place. Took the family for a special night out and pleasantly surprised. Private space and excellent service complimented really outstanding food and drinks. I don't go out of my way to provide positive reviews very often but love to support locally owned establishments that have something unique to provide. Only suggestion is to update the menu on the website. Bon Appetite!

Great food and dessert in a comfortable old house with a fine patio! You may have driven past without noticing this unassuming house, but it's so well worth stopping in. Fine attentive service but without being rushed. Excellent onion soup and calamari appetizers, great thick pork chops with fantastic potato pancakes, and seared angelfood cake for dessert. Dinner for four with drinks and dessert ran $220, not cheap but well worth the price!

Wonderful experience at James Place this evening! The food is artisan, something you would not expect at first sight. The Walleye with rice pilaf and a touch of vegetables was amazing! Friends had the chicken pot pie, which is a hearty meal and the steak with onion strips that looked absolutely mouth watering. After our meal, the chef came out personally and asked how things went. He explained how the fish is procured and little tidbits on food prep. James Place is smaller with a casual atmosphere, the food and service were excellent!

Have been here several times and its always consistent.... awesome food, great wine selection, fantastic service (ask for Brandon!!), and such a cozy quaint atmosphere. The patio in summer is beautiful. Perfect place for a date night. I Love James Place!

Wonderful food and experience! Make a point to stop at this gem. It's easy to miss.
Tried the shrimp cocktail, JP flatbread pizza, French onion soup and saved room for the amazing angel food cake dessert. Everything was fresh and delicious.
We will definitely return!

The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with warm lighting nice wood work and decor. The staff was friendly and the service good. Great wine selection, if you are a wine drinker. Limited selection of beer and no specialty cocktail menu. The food was excellent the Chicken Pot Pie in particular had nice sized pieces of chicken and recognizable veggies. The Spicy Shrimp appetizer was also very good. I ordered the "Vegetable Soup" a special that day. The flavor was okay, I wish the description was better. I expected a broth based vegetable soup it was instead tomato base, and more like a vegetable marinara sauce than a soup. I look forward to going back, I will ask for a description of items before ordering.

One of my favorites anywhere and the best within 20miles. Everything I’ve ever had here has been top notch and probably more important has been incredibly consistent every time. Regularly changing menu and every dish is amazing. Specials you actually want and not just what they are getting rid of. Really hard to beat, cannot recommend enough!

Amazing! We didn't know what to expect by the looks of the exterior, but we were so pleasantly surprised at the quaint, charming and warm interior. The food was excellent, the meatball appetizer was plentiful, tender and left us wanting more. I opted for a special, the fish fry. Lightly breaded haddock with fries and slaw. The plate was overflowing with food and I devoured every bite of the fish. The homemade tartar sauce was delicious. My husband ordered the smoked gouda mac and cheese with so much delightful, tender seafood, it seemed sinful! We split a chocolate cake for dessert and were so pleasantly full that we finished our wine and just talked about what a wonderful experience it was to happen upon this amazing gem of a restaurant. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Ate outside. Tables were at least 6 ft apart according to Covid guidelines and can seat 4 comfortably. Food was outstanding, as was the service! Jeremy was our waiter. Had halibut with rice and vegetables. Halibut was mild, seasoned perfectly, as were the rice and vegetables. Restrooms are always very clean. Highly recommend

We're in town for a week, camping, and the KOA suggested James Place and we are very glad they did. The staff is friendly and the food is awesome. They also have a pretty good wine list. We went twice and enjoyed two wonderful meals.

James Place has become our favorite local hangout, especially on Fridays! James, Alexis, Brandon, Lauren and Jeremy are so welcoming and very entertaining if you are lucky enough to get a seat at the bar. Environment warm with some funk and eclectic mix of tunes. Food is always delicious and frequently followed by a visit from Chef John. Our favorites include the walleye, flatbread and seasonal specialty salads. In addition, we appreciate their efforts to give us an opportunity to spend time with family and friends in a safe space. BRAVO!

This restaurant is consistently EXCELLENT. They serve real food that tastes delicious. Their lunch menu offers up a great twist on classic menu items - lots of sandwiches with fries that are to die for. All meals are creative such as avocado stuffed with shrimp and crab with a beautiful sweet sauce, delightful tuna melt and an excellent burger. They also offer three choices on sides daily...although I don't know how you ever pass up their house made fries!

I haven't even mentioned their extensive wine menu or craft beers. James place is truly a gem within Aurora!!

Chef Andrew Wilks and sous chef Jeremy Barnes are an amazing team. The things we see top chefs explain to the average laymen these two create seemingly effortlessly and much better than most any place I've been. That is a commendation and also an invitation to try out James place.

Food was phenomenal. The Duck Carbonara was prepared perfectly. We shared several deserts. All were scratch made and couldn't have been better. Will definitely return.
