Solterra Winery & Kitchen

Enjoyed visiting this winery on December 30th.
I was visting from Seattle and stopped by this place for dinner. The atmosphere was great. the bartender was friendly. the food and the wine were of great quality.

They slightly overcharged my receipt by $0.95, but mistakes happen, the manager was polite and apologetic about it.

I would visit this place again and highly recommend it to any travellers deciding to stop by a small little town called Encinitas in the San Diego area.

We were here for my buddies wedding reception dinner. The food and wine selection were good. Parking across st in dirt. They need more bathrooms though. The look with wine barrels was cool though.

GREAT DATE SPOT- we went last night and were sat quickly without a reso (it was busy though). The live music was great! There were no tasting flights that night (first time we had run into that)- but had several half glasses of great wine. We also ordered the mussels and shishito peppers. Both delicious. Our server was super friendly. Will be back!

Very nice atmosphere for a little winery and excellent food. I don't know much about wine but the zinfandel we had was tasty. I split the ahi tuna and the vegan paella with my fiance and we enjoyed every bite. The server was also knowledgeable and always at the ready.

My son and his fiancé chose Solterra Winery & Kitchen as the venue for their rehearsal dinner. This was planned long distance via email, my son and his fiancé live in Nashville, we live in New Jersey. From my future daughter-in-law's first contact with Alex, the event manager, to the final clean up, it was a perfect experience!

Our menu included appetizers: charcuterie boards, flatbreads, and beef skewers. Entrees: roasted chicken, short rib, house salad, Patatas bravas, and Brussels sprouts. Dessert- flourless cake. We chose 4 wines: Sauv Blanc, Ainsley Bordeaux, a 2019 Petite Syrah, and a 2019 Tempranillo.

The charcuterie boards had a wonderful variety of items and were as artist as they they were delicious! The beef skewers flavor and tenderness was a delight, and the three varieties of flatbreads, were each unique and flavorful!

The short rib (I'm so thankful we added extra portions of it at our 14 day deadline) was nothing short of perfection! It was served over a bed of beans and garnished! Roasted chicken was good, the patatas bravas had layers of flavor while the Brussels sprouts were crispy and tender and seasoned. Hats off the the chef! We'll done!

Our guests kept commenting that the venue was unique, and how impressed they were by the food.

We arrived in California two days prior to our event and showed up to wine taste unannounced. Initially we were told it might be too late for wine tastings, but without making us feel awkward, Jason, the bartender, helped us out with an impromptu tasting. We were able to quickly narrow down our choices for the event because Jason was knowledgeable and friendly! He suggested a certain number of not for our number of guests and he was spot on!

The day of the event we arrived a few minutes ahead of our contract time. We offered to wait outside, but Alex was warm and welcoming, and invited us in to begin decorating. All evening Alex or another server were there to serve beverages, clean plates, refill food and water. Both were very accommodating and friendly.

Shawn/Shaun, the manager checked on us several times throughout the event to see if we needed anything. His presence was appreciated!

If we lived locally, we would be regulars at Solterra Winery & Kitchen!

Such a gem. No suprise that everyone knows the wine is great but the FOOD! Great service and Ian makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Be back soon for sure!

Food was great, drinks were so so good, ambiance was totally on point. I would highly recommend this place.

Absolutely great place to enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon. Kristin was our server and she made the visit perfect with genuine interaction and balance of service. We are on vacation otherwise we would make this place a regular stop.

Excellent experience! Jacob was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines he served and made excellent suggestions. Highly recommend this spot and will return. I got a mixed red and white flight. With some added Pinot noir blend half glasses that were excellent. The entire staff was great. The place is clean, lively, and has great food to accompany the wine.

Every time we go to Solterra, we feel like we are visiting family. A happy family! Everyone is so nice, the energy is amazing and we always leave feeling we don’t want to leave. Andrea, Cindy, Ian, Sean always make us feel welcome and special. The food is always delicious and the wine delectable. Thank you for being such a gem in Encinitas.

had a fantastic dinner with friends last night. my bluefin tuna dish was simply delicious. I have eaten there prior and the food was solid ... but it makes me think they have a new chef as it took another step up. we ate in the barrel room. atmosphere was great ... only downside was the music was a bit loud to hear everyone at the table. liked thr musician but a tad softer would have been preferred.

Best service ever - thank you Kristen! I was having a bit of a funky day and my server comped my glass of wine. So sweet! Such a small gesture but it made me feel so taken care of and totally turned my mood around. The wine was delicious and the atmosphere is vibey. 10/10 recommended.

A special night with friends, we picked this Winery and we were not disappointed. GMS vino was our favorite paired with delicious foods brought out by attentive servers. Staff was attentive, informative and caring. Highly recommended!

The food is always great and we love that they have started to bring back some staples on the menu. Ian is always great as a server and makes our experience perfect each time with food and drink recommendations. We love all the new food out of the kitchen from Chef Margo and team. We have never missed on any of their specials. This has become a staple for us.

Incredible winery! Charming vibe, exceptional Mediterranean menu options, vast red wine offerings, and Cindy made our night so fun. Will return without a doubt.

Been going here for a few years now and always enjoy it. The staff is extremely nice and friendly. It seems they’ve gone through a few chef changes because the food was good and then terrible and now great! The newer (seems like about a year now) chef staff is amazing. Great foods and wines!

One of my favorite spots for wine. Great location, great service, great good! Parking cam be tricky at times on certain nights. There's usually side street parking if you can't find spaces across the street. Tonight we had the mussels and the charcuterie board. Mussels were only ok. Not sure I would order them again. Charcuterie board was perfect and the cab was delicious! We sat inside but the seating outside is my favorite place - cozy and great for people watching during the day! 😊
