Black Bear Diner

I had previously left a negative review that was not accurate of the actual experience and would like to set the record straight.

I have eaten here several times. The food is always great, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good place to eat in Carson, so give them a try if you haven't already.

Visited multiple times over 3 day stay. Always friendly, accommodating, and great food and service. Love the train out front, especially since the city has a train museum.

What a treat! Drove all the way down to Carson City to get a Driver's license renewed. I have been to a lot of Black Bear Diners in various States. This one is in a hotel. They also had some slot machines. The restaurant itself was not highly decorated, however, the service and the food were exemplary.

Our server was really, really good. She knew just when to appear.....loved that. She was friendly and efficient! My Bennie classic was super delicious, and my husband had the chicken fried steak and eggs.....totally delicious. We WILL be back!!!

We really enjoyed Black Bear Diner. It was early or should I say for most people due to it being Sunday and 20ish degrees outside. Our waitress was awesome in her knowledge and smiles. Only a few years ago we would go out to breakfast at a restaurant and spend about $25 for the 2 of us. Now it's about $15 more. So we don't go out as often but we choose quality with a good atmosphere, this is why we enjoy Black Bear.

The best steak, the most delicious steak that I have ever eaten, tender and juicy, and the waitresses are so nice , a wonderful dinner at Black Bear Dinner, I really didn’t think that I could find a good restaurant in a hotel, can’t resist this delicious steak, I ordered second one, highly recommended!

I wasn't expected this restaurant to be so deeply ensconced in the casino. I don't gamble, so I don't really like entering casinos. It's not that I'm tempted in any way, it's just that they smell strongly of cigarettes.

The food was very good. I had a chicken fried steak, and I have to say the breading gave it a considerable amount of flavoring.

The gravy was a bit bland, but most country gravy tends to be, so I only really care about that whenever I have biscuits and gravy, which I only have at home since few restaurants make it as flavorful as I hope for. If you're lactose tolerant as I am, keep that risk in mind. XD

The potatoes were delicious. I'd never been to a restaurant that shaved their hash browns in long thick strips (not depth-wise, in terms on x y z, a fair amount of y (length), more x (width) than you'd expect and the right amount of z (depth). They were crispy and very enjoyable.

The eggs were cooked a bit softer than I requested, but nothing was runny in them, so I was very satisfied.

There was a bed of lettuce and a cooked lemon slice (perhaps by the heat of the chicken fried steak?) and I accidentally sliced a bit of the skin and ate it with a bite of the steak and was confused about what gave it that interesting tart flavor. I caught the fruit poking out and laughed. It's nice presentation, but you can miss it since it's under the steak. I have to say that if they grated lemon zest (peel) on a country fried steak, that would be delicious, if it was grated very finely.

Almost lastly, the biscuits were thick - far thicker than I would have expected, but this was the Grizz meal. That means fairly big. I ate it in two stages... a bit more than half in the restaurant, and then the rest for dinner that night. The biscuits contained another delightful surprise. They're probably made with a combination of butter and bacon grease, giving them that slightly porky flavor they have. You can munch on them alone, no added butter, no jam or whatever you prefer, but as a standalone bread substitute, they're a bit dry but delicious.

Finally, I had an Arnold Palmer (combination of lemonade and iced tea). I'm VERY glad that they have these directly on the menu and I didn't have to specially order that combination.

The meal was very filling, very satisfying.

Black Bear never fails, food has allways been consistent, and service has allways been great, I travel alot and I have to say, Server Elizabeth is amazing,very attentive and allways has a smile on her face, who wouldn't feel welcomed, she is one of the main reason that I never hesitate to come back, I really do enjoy my dining experiences ever single time, if your in carson just ask for her, cannot go wrong and for more pictures and comments follow me on Instagram @Fortheloveoffood775

Great food as always, and well portioned for hungry bears (4 gentlemen and 1 lady). Fast service, and our waiter was very attentive. We will definitely be back very soon.

After a long day me and my wife decided to get some food. We decided to go with black bear diner and let me tell you... best food ever! Service was great! Thank you black bear diner for the wonderful experience!

Great food with wonderful service. We were seated promptly and our drink order was delivered within a minute. The waitress came to check on us every few minutes and refilled our drinks. I highly recommend this place when visiting Carson City.

Never disappointed at Black Bear, especially with Lily! Her service is on point, kind, and ready to help with anything. We have been sat with her twice and loved her each time. She doesn’t forget a face and welcomed us like we had just been there yesterday instead of the two weeks.

Food was great and the portions are huge! Staff was friendly.

Hated the smokey environment, unfortunately the restaurant is right next to a casino. That being said the staff was friendly and had a large party sat very quickly. The menu is large and covers all of the basics. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. By far some of the best pancakes I've had in a long time. They're made with sweet cream, this was a winner. Everything else on my plate was hot and cooked as asked. The waitress was efficient and everyone said they were happy. I thought the value of my food was very good. I'll be back.

Delicious food! Awesome service! Ordered chicken and waffles - the waffles were amazing, fluffy, and moist. The chicken was delicious and flavorful also. Boys ordered omelets and both were great. Well seasoned and hot if the griddle. The berry spritzer was good. I wish they had a larger straw because the seeds would get stuck in the straw. I blew bubbles in the drink to get them out. The boys laughed!

My new favorite place. Fish fry Friday, yum! Unlimited goodness!
