Great easy hike, flat. Beware of coyotes especially if you have a dogs. Dogs love the water but make sure it's slow and shallow. Some parts are better to let your dog play.

Uncrowded and very peaceful.
Dog friendly and a sign that indicates off leash is even ok.

A great easy to find and park escape from hustle and bustle of busy life I to the serene scene of nature.

Major upgrades since I was a kid and my PA would take me out to the river. Which back then actually seemed like we left town and went OUT to the river.

I remember fishing and finding goose eggs along the bank as a boy. The tunnel holes would make huge spiraling funneling of water and I would throw tree branches I could grab and watch them get sucked in.
Now these tunnels are above the river where the parking lot is.
Oh memories!

Today a trail is well managed and can be experienced by foot hiking, riding a bicycle, or even a horse down along the river.

Various spots of picnicking can be found or just create your own space to hang out.
People walk their dogs kindly and poop bags are available at the entrance.

Down far enough a distinct edge of waterfalls the width of the river. This is where the ditch and river meet.
This location is referred to as the Mexican dam.
Which I couldn't explain why it's named such but that's that.

So go for a walk and enjoy the fresh sage air with flowing water along the way. See ducks and birds playing happily.

Pure, untouched nature at it's finest! I love, too, that our fur babies can go with us & run free off leash to enjoy it just as much!

Great place to have a calm relaxing walk following the river. There are picnic tables and an area that would be good for small gatherings like a wedding ceremony. Take your dogs, kids and a lunch; this is a great day spot.

Please check it out if you haven't!

This a great park that has ample parking and plenty of space to get some alone time without being interrupted. Lovely walking trails and lots of pretty views of the Carson river.

This park has a good parking area, restroom, picnic table and hiking trails. The walk to the old Mexican Dam is about 45 minutes to 1 hour, one way, on easy trails, with no elevation change.

I recall the area as a child. The trail was fun to walk before the most recent snow storm.
