The Hard Shell Bellgrade

Highly recommend the Seared Salmon, the meal was a good portion where you’re full and don’t have much left over. The taste was phenomenal it was so good. My fiancé and I also got the 1/2 dozen oysters and seared scallops - Both were incredibly good! To finish the dinner we got the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream to share.

Great food, great vibes. Out waiter was very nice. The bread pudding was amazing. Had a cocktail with blue Curaçao and it tasted like medicine.

The food was excellent. The lobster was cooked perfectly. Asparagus had a flavor that I never tasted before. Caesar salad was fresh all of the vegetables we're crisp and delicious. The stakes were delicious also the crab meat was very good. The waiter and waitress never mindful of all the needs of the customers. They could be watchful eye on us all the time. We use a private room which was perfect on the size crowd that we had. Decoration on the table were perfect for the occasion. I highly recommend this restaurant for your dining experience.

Met here with my parents and young children to grab a bite to eat. We made the reservation on OpenTable. When I got there the table was ready and our server came over quickly. She was able to make suggestions on the menu in accordance to questions we asked. The food came out quickly and was very good. I looked around the room to find the waitress to order a plate to go. The manager came over and took my order quickly. That was a plus ! Overall a good experience and the food was great. Oh and the Vanilla Bean crème brûlée was my favorite dessert.

The fried oysters were cooked to perfection. We tried the chefs special - also great. Our server was attentive and kind and the management staff made us feel special. We will return.

Quiet on a Wednesday. Sat at a corner of the bar with companion. Oysters on 1/2 shell where fantastic and prepped perfectly. She crab soup perfect with a little heap of shredded crab on top. Warm but not to the burn-your- mouth level. The large arugula salad with goat cheese and other goodies. Service was most pleasant and quick. Noise level enjoyable (not blasting or too loud). Can’t wait to go back!

We blocks away from the restaurant. We are new to the area. Stop in to give it a try. Service was great. Place was clean and well managed. The staff is active and friendly.
The food is excellent. We truly enjoyed our dining experience with them.

I had the Rib and Crab combo. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, probably the tenderest I've had in 10 years. The crab was great.
We sat outside on the patio. Not much to say for atmosphere, but it was pleasant. Service was good. My wife's cocktail and fish tacos got a great response (can't feel my legs mule was appropriately named, rather strong)

Yummy food. Great service! What more do you need? Great seafood place. If you, don’t eat seafood, they have steaks as well. But I’d definitely go for the seafood.
I had the Hard Shell Pasta; tasted great and they even give you a bib because of all the marinara sauce in the pasta.
My husband got the special which was swordfish, artichoke and broccolini and he says it was very good.
Lobster tail was also a great dish!
So overall it was great 👍

We came here for brunch on Saturday. Since we were in the mood for seafood we ordered the crab dip, the Maine lobster and the shrimp & scallops.
They had a patio but we decided to dine in. Our food didn’t take long to come out.

The restaurant had a lovely aesthetic which felt fresh yet modern. I especially enjoyed the natural sunlight and foliage visible from the large windows on the walls. As for our food, everything
was delicious. Even the rice and salad.

Since their entrees were so good, we decided to get dessert as well. The crème brûlée was tasty and topped with some strawberries. If you like seafood and brunch, then this is an excellent place to try.

Thoroughly enjoyed Hardshell! Our experience was 5 stars from the very beginning to the end. I called earlier in the day to make a reservation for 10 people, but the restaurant was completely booked for the evening. Around 5pm ET, the restaurant called me back to inform me that a large party had cancelled and that they were more than happy to accommodate our reservation, if still interested. From that point on, our experience was amazing. Our server, Angela, was very friendly and very thorough in ensuring our time at Hardshell was 5 stars. The appetizers and entrees were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The fudge brownies and vanilla ice cream were excellent desserts as well. With this in mind, Hardshell is an EXCELLENT restaurant in terms of accommodation, food quality, cleanliness, service, and atmosphere.

During fall and winter months, they serve really fresh raw oysters on half shell. And the prices are especially reasonable during happy hour. They do seafood and steak well. My go-to place for seafood in Richmond.

Food is great, the service is typically slower. I’ve dined here several times. If the services was consistent and more attentive, I would give this place 5 stars all the way!

This place remains having one of the most delicious steaks in the city. If given the choice between neighboring Ruth's Chris and The Hard Shell for a steak, this is the hands down winner.

First time here. I ordered the chicken dish. It was good but I expected more. It didn't have much flavor. I dont eat seafood so my options were limited. I would go back and try the filet.

It was our first dinner at THS. Superb on every front. Reservations from open table easy. Seated quickly. Water right away. Appetizer ordered and came quickly. Dinner cocktails were delicious. Parm Truffle Fries were so good. Shrimp & Scallops for me and Fish Tacos for my husband. Both amazing! Service outstanding. All that in 1.15 hours. Perfect evening. We will be back. Thank you.

What an amazing establishment! I celebrated my 54th birthday at the hard shell and let me tell you…it was amazing. The welcoming staff, the atmosphere and the food. Our waiter Thomas was the coolest, very attentive and extremely pleasant. I was a able to meet the manager and guess what… the positive vibes were radiating. I will be back!! ♥♥♥♥

Hardshell has a great Happy Hour. I visited there in 2012 for the first time and still enjoy meeting with my friends there on a regular basis. Food and service are great. The servers and bartenders are super friendly. This is definitely a spot you should check out.

The service is always proffessional and the food always taste great. I recommend their Salad with Salmon, Crabcakes, and Parmesan Truffle Fries.

Excellent food and great customer service. I went on a Sunday to try their Crab Legs and left full and satisfied. Their oysters were delicious, the truffle fries are amazing, and their Key Lime Pie was the perfect finish to a fantastic meal. They need to update their specials on their website since I went to try their pound of Crab Legs for a little over $15, but that was no longer an option when I went, only 2 pounds for about $25 or you could get something else with crab in it, a pasta of some sort, I believe. Regardless, I would definitely go back, there were so many options on the menu that looked good, it was a tough decision but everything came out even better than expected.
