Imagine if Trader Joe’s and Fresh market had a baby! Great place, and great customer service. We had sushi and sandwich’s. Great spots to eat inside and out!

Great produce and natural section. Plus they had sea moss which hard to find. Biggest highlight although I didn’t indulge is the bakery——so many vegan selections from snickerdoodles to huge cupcakes to sweet potato cake to creatively flavored cheesecake!

Fresh, organic produce. Best bulk section including olive oils, honey, dry goods, granola, nut mixes, as well as soaps, shampoo, you name it! AND you can get eggs in bulk and reduce packaging. OMG.

Clean, well organized, fresh produce, expiration dates are clearly displayed, employees seem happy to work there, and they have an amazing juice bar! I've found a gem!

Always amazing, colorful, fresh local produce, protein and provisions. Tasty and healthy food. Great cafe. Amazing store culture. The most pleasant grocery shopping experience for a reviewer who isn’t even a huge fan of grocery runs.

Important to support the small Business, which maintains the unique feel of towns including Richmond-- where Ellwood Thompson's is located.

I like this place. Lots of variety. I come here for the dried herbs, teas and powders. They have stuff that can be hard to find like file blend. Nice selection of nutrition supplements, vegan groceries, natural soaps and essential oils. Good customer service and snacks too.

If you love all things organic and natural products, Ellwood Thompson's is the place to go. Located on Thompson St, just off I-195 at the the entrance of Carytown, there is a plethora of local produce, health and beauty products, meats, breads and pastries from local bakeries. Plus, there is a coffee and juice bar, full-service kitchen with a delightful assortment of hot and cold meals. You'll also find a dining area to enjoy your goodies. I recently stopped in to pickup a quick sandwich and left with the mother of all applewood bacon, egg and cheddar cheese buttermilk biscuits with a large hot mocha coffee. Yum...

They might be pricey on some things but I love their vegetarian and vegan options in their grab and go section. They have a delightful selection of craft beers from all around. And a really nice selection of all kinds of veggies in their produce area. It's a special treat when I run in when I'm in the area

Today I stepped into this store after being away since the start of the pandemic. The certified organic selection here is wonderful! Ellwood Thompson's offers a very community-oriented environment and is very supportive of locally grown produce and other local items. More dollars generated at this locally-owned store also appear to stay in the community than probably at most corporate chain stores. Also, I see the owner eating regularly at the store's cafe, and is very customer service oriented himself.

full disclosure, i'm a regular and the place is a five minute walk from house so i'm biased, but there's a reason i go there every day: they have great produce, great prepared food and stuff you can't get anywhere else. it's expensive af, but just deal with it, totally worth the stop in. and wait wait wait, the local and non-local beer selection is nutsssss!!!!! if you like beer, that's enough of a reason to get in there and get yur craft on!!!

All I can say is healthy healthy healthy!!! Best supermarket for non meat eating people that are trying to live a healthier life.. The meat they sell there are not as processed as the regular supermarket

Best grocery store of all time! Yes it's expensive (very) but you get what you pay for. Went with my girlfriend yesterday to get some quality local ingredients for a chicken fettuccine alfredo and they really have all the best stuff. Also the supplements section is absolutely amazing.

The gold standard for organic markets. Amazing selection of produce, meat/vegan, dairy and craft beer/wine -- but also other organic products you won't find elsewhere. I always go in looking to buy a few things I need, and end up buying 10x more. Staff is super-friendly and helpful, always has been, and it's just a very homey, comfortable place with a warm vibe filled with people of all walks of life passionate about good food.

For me it's good for some specific items. They have a particular local spicy hummus I like and they had some Kanzi apples (kinda like Jazz apples) which you don't see organic all the time.

Great selection for an independent health food store. Hope they bring the hot bar and salad bar back. They were so good. But if not, its still worth shopping at. Prices are a little high but so is every non-amazon health food store.
If you eat vegan and gf, be sure to pick up a piece of the sweet potato cheesecake. It's insanely good.

Local supermarket with local fresh produce, bulk foods, health foods, a bakery, a butcher shop, and a deli. There are prepared foods in a salad bar that are sold by weight. The front of the store has a seating section for dining in.

This is one of my favorite grocery stores in America. I always stop here when passing through Richmond and wish we had places like this in Baltimore! They have a massive selection of local craft beer available in packs or singles. I love stocking up on beers here. I hear the food is great too. 😅

Great neighborhood grocery . Good source for organic and gluten free products. I enjoy the hot lunch buffet and their coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating. Their juice bar is a great addition to the other food and drink options.
