Herschel's Scratch Kitchen

Well first time here….no, we’re not vacationing nor are we new to the area but yes new somewhat. We recently purchased a vacation home on the water and we will definitely be visiting you guys again. The outdoor seating area was very quaint, the beer was cold and the food we all ordered was delicious and fresh. Our server was very accommodating and friendly. We are originally from the Land O Lakes area, one born and one raised in Florida.

We’ve frequented the area years ago after a day of boating we’d then eat somewhere on Main Street. We are thrilled to be “new” to the area and look forward to trying more yummy sounding menu items.

This was my first visit and it was great. I did call 30 mins before the kitchen closed and made sure it was ok. The lady on the phone said as long as come come in before 3pm you will be ok. This is important because next door they had the kitchen closed 20 mins prior to closing. This place had great the food and was very tasty ordered a burger and fries. We never felt like we were rushed and had a very homie atmosphere. I even seen them surprise a customer with a birthday they weren't expecting, it was very nice. This place is a definition of a great restaurant, friendly staff, great food, and a great atmosphere. I will definitely be back again.

Herschel's has been and still is a favorite go-to place.

I was a little skeptical since being run by new owners, but based on my experiences, they are still a fave, and I highly recommend them.

Christmas Eve, I enjoyed the Farm House Benedict. The food was prepared right and was delicious.

I was on a tight schedule and just wanted to get in and out. The staff helped me achieve that.

If there was one thing I would change it is for them to carry at least one more from scratch desert, and it could even be something like a fresh baked apple pie, alamode, and even with cheddar.

5 Stars, Fantastic breakfast food. Great selection, fresh made to order. Everything was super delicious, will most certainly be back.

Such an awesome place. Inside is small but there is a really nice outdoor area with spacious seating. Everyone was very friendly. I had the world famous chicken Benedict and my husband had the country boy omelet. Both with breakfast potatoes. I don't think I've had a better breakfast! So flavorful and delicious.

My goto for Shrimp & Grits. Patio is pet friendly along with a very well mannered resident cat who stops by to say hello to guests. Food is delicious w/generous portions. Wait staff is efficient, professional, and super friendly. Love this place.

Delicious shrimp and grits, fantastic waffle and REAL corn beef hash. Everything was exceptional and the staff was very kind and attentive. I can't wait to go back!

My first time at the restaurant. Let me tell you this was the best shrimp and grits that I have ever,ever,ever had! Big portions. Enough for two for sure. I was a little hungry this morning so I was being greedy and got the fitness omelet also. Omg! Egg white, spinach, tomatoes and feta cheese. Everything was superb. So good makes you want to slap your mama! I will definitely be back!

We had breakfast food and it was delicious! There was a good selection of food from classics to fun creations. A good stop whether you're a local or just visiting.

Stopped in for breakfast with an old friend and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Leah was an outstanding waitress. The French toast is phenomenal and my friend loved every bite of her omelet. Absolutely recommend for a cute little breakfast spot!

Warm staff and a nice location. Might need to get lucky to park but it is worth it. Marble countertop to eat at the counter. Old luncheonette type atmosphere. Ordered chicken and waffles and was happy with portions and service. I'd recommend this to anyone reading. Large outdoor seating and good beer.

Live north of here for the winter so don't spend a lot of time in New Port Richey. Very nice town though. A friend from town had me meet him at Herschel's. Glad he did. It was a pleasant day so we sat out on the great patio looking over the main street. The food was very good (grilled chicken wrap and side salad), quite reasonably priced and the servers were friendly and accommodating. The ice tea tastes freshly brewed too. I will be back for sure, it's worth the drive.

Very friendly staff. Great meal options. You can choose between sitting inside or outside.
The dishes are fresh and very very tasty.

Went here on a Saturday afternoon on a whim, looking for brunch that wasn’t huge on portion size or budget. A coin toss decided this place, and I was not disappointed! The meal was just what I wanted; got the fitness omelet with the potatoes instead of a biscuit and they were some of the best I’ve ever had! Super crispy and generous portion.
The iced coffee was good; they make it with regular drip.
The staff was super nice, Jocelyn was my server and was patient, friendly, and informative. 10/10 will come back again, if just for the potatoes!

Waitresses are friendly and service is fast and speedy. The toast was amazing. They KNOW how to cook eggs perfectly, be it poached, fried or scrambled.
10 out of 10 would definitely recommend to a friend.

Excellent breakfast. We sat outside, and it was all perfect. Waitress went out of her way to make sure to ensure my husband could tolerate the level of spiciness of one dish and brought a bit of the sauce for him to taste it.

Found a Great breakfast place today. Have lived in the area for 14 years. Have found maybe 3 places with good breakfasts, not great. HERSCHEL'S really impressed us. Diner atmosphere, clean, helpful staff, Pepsi products (which I love) and my husband says their coffee was great (which is a huge plus). All this plus Great food. My husband had biscuits and gravy, eggs, potatoes. I had the Sami Sampler. Being a new place for us, we wanted to try as many things as we could. All wonderful. Love this place.

Went to Herschel's Scratch Kitchen based on recommendations from here. And we are so happy we did. The price, the service, the flavor. Everything was top notch!

Our server Blake was super helpful and knowledgeable. The pricing was very reasonable.

Onto the food now. We got some Cheesy Skillet Grits. Super buttery and cheesy. Only $5.95 and portion was super generous.

He got the Country Boy Omelet. Comes smothered in a country style gravy. Includes potatoes or grits and toast. He enjoyed it.

I got the Cajun Benedict and it's probably the breakfast I've ever had. It comes with 2 biscuits topped with poached eggs, shrimp, sausage and creole sauce with potatoes. I opted no sausage personally. The eggs were poached perfectly, runny yolk. Shrimp was the best shrimp I've ever eaten in my life. Blackened and extremely flavorful. The sauce was the perfect hit of spice. And the potatoes, were seasoned to perfection with a nice crust on the outside.

We had also gotten bread pudding to go. Super huge portion. And I'm excited to eat it later.

Total before tip was $43 and change. Definitely worth it and we left happy and full with leftovers.

Friendly crowd, cozy in and outside environment. Food is fresh, tasty and plentiful. Oh but the service! Always happy when I see that my favorite servers are on duty. Top notch team keeping the coffee cup filled and yummy foods flowing and hot.
