PDRA Quarry Lake Norman

Have been members of PDRA for a handful of years now.

Barry the quarry manager, does a great job making sure the quarry stays clean and in shape. Every one has really put a lot of work into keeping lines ran and tagged with lots of neat things to explore!

They've recently installed bubblers that have helped keep the water pretty steady temperature wise from top to bottom. Viz has also cleared up significantly, of course depending on the weather.

We had a ton of fun diving here a while back. Lots of cool stuff to find at the bottom of the quarry and some unique fish to interact with in the water. A quarry is a really great place to learn to dive because the layers of a quarry create a wall to follow when descending, which also gives a concept of how far you're descending [as opposed to truly open water. There were some super friendly folks at the quarry doing some underwater pumpkin carving on our visit. They invited us to compete and even fed us. Seems like a great place to hangout and meet other divers, as everyone seemed to have common goals for their visit to the quarry.

Great location that is well maintained for divers. The water can be a little cool and murky, but in the summer it warms up to comfortable as long as you stay shallow or wear proper exposure protection. Great place to practice your skills in diving, with @SinkorSwimScuba.

Went diving with an instructor absolutely loved this place. Was peaceful and relaxing but fun and interesting with the HUGE fish and all the different sights under water. If your a diver fun place to visit for a relaxing nonstressful dive

Beautiful and convenient place to practice scuba diving in the Charlotte area.

This is a great place to dive when you need your underwater breathing fix. Along with their other 2 quarries. They have aerators to keep water temp the same top to bottom. No thermocline! Viz is mediocre at best but all I wanted was to get wet and breath underwater . As for the person who gave it 1 star because you can't fish.....how did you even get in there?? This is for divers, not fishing, swimming. Duh!

Great dive site. Easy access, benches/tables and walking access to the water. Lines well labeled and water conditions were fairly clear at depth.

Best diving around the Charlotte area. Well maintained and constantly being improved. Marked lines run between all the sunk stuff and there is a shallower training area that gets most of the attention.

I became certified to scuba dive today by doing my second open water dive here. It was awesome.

Best scuba diving place around Charlotte/ Mooresville.
