Watauga Medical Center

In reading the reviews of this hospital I was nervous to take my 8 month old daughter here. We ended up on the 4th floor for 4 days before being transferred to Charlotte. The staff was absolutely incredible. I cannot say enough amazing things about our nurses. I would like to thank Maegan, Andrea, Ying and Dr. McGhee for their attentiveness and loving nature. Although we still have more to overcome the staff made it much bearable. We are so grateful. The rooms on the 4th floor are also better than any hotel in Boone.

I cannot say enough about how helpful, cheerful and supportive with every person we encountered at Watauga. From the person that checked us in, then immediately being brought back to same-day surgery for my husband's EGD w/Dilation. The nurses and technicians prepared him fully with everything that would happen AND with a smile on their faces. (Thanks Amanda and sorry did get name of other lady). The anesthesiologist and the nurse anesthesiologist both were great. Then to recovery where we had awesome care, he's a wild one coming out of anesthesia! I wish I knew everyone's name to thank them personally. Watauga is so lucky to have all of you working here.

Husband took a tumble on the Sugar Mountain ski slopes and got a gash on his leg. Ski patrol called an ambulance, but he was stable enough to drive him, so they recommended Watauga Medical Center. Showed up to ER and waited about 15 minutes before we were called back. Got an x-ray, a thorough wound cleansing, and 35 stitches. Entire staff was incredibly friendly and kind. Surgical & ER PA’s and nurses were super patient and personable, front desk staff was wonderfully kind, and gift shop manager gave our 4 year old son a free treat for patiently waiting. We’re really grateful for the team here.

I am so thankful for the care I received during my 4 day stay here.From the time I arrived at the ER, until my discharge I was treated not only professionally, but could feel the genuine concern for my healthcare by everyone involved. I hope each of them know how truly grateful I am. Nothing but good things to say here. First class all the way.

I had a hip replacement 2 weeks ago. This hospital is Top-notch!!!!

I have to say from the team that took care of me before and after surgery they were great.

The Orthopedic floor nurses were a step above. I love those ladies they took great care of me!!!

Everyone, from the nurses, aides, techs, food service and housekeeping were wonderful. Friendly, professional, and efficient. Doctor could have had a better bedside manner (talking to staff instead of directly to me) but overall a great facility.

I have both of parents in the hospital and the staff, Doctors and nurses have been so awesome in helping us. My parents have dementia. I could have not ask for more of a loving family with all what we have been through. We love all. The Social workers have been such a god sent.

My husband had a procedure today and we are so impressed with the hospital, staff, Dr Dimonti and nurses! Everyone was super helpful and friendly.
This is our first time either of us have had any kind of care at Watauga Medical and we do not have a single complaint. The hospital is very nice and clean and we loved it…

An emergency visit for my husband's abdominal pain brought swift attentiotn and diagnosis and even though the NG procedure was not pleasant, the obstruction was relieved and he was home in two days. We stayed in the new wing which is VERY BEAUTIFUL. The room overlooked the golf course and that pleased my husband. I was impressed with the collection of artwork by watercolor artists decorating the hallways. The works of Joe Miller were among them. The staff was friendly, professional, and very helpful.

Visiting from Alabama, I(65M) began experiencing chest pain after a 2 mi. walk. I didn't think too much about it at first but, it kept increasing in frequency and pain level back at the condo. Not wanting to take chances, my wife and I headed to the ER, in Boone. You don't typically think much about a hospital's ER but, from arrival to discharge, we could not have had a better experience. Everyone, from office staff to nurses and physicians, were just amazing! Not only were they well trained, and professional in my treatment but, also friendly and kind. keeping us informed and updated frequently. A special thanks to Rylant, Tara, and Megan our nurses/tech for making things so smooth and comfortable during my visit. It turned out not to be serious thankfully, and within a few hours we were discharged. It's hard finding places where people make you feel they genuinely care, and are concerned these days. They did that with us. There are so many things here in this area that have impressed my wife and I, Watauga Medical Center, is just another one!

I just spent 3 terrifying days in the new Schaefer Tower. The room was beautiful. The Nurses and assistants were Phenomenal! I wouldn't be here if they hadn't worked so hard. I appreciate the staff from garbage collector, to Doctors. Thank you all!

I'm a recently retired RN and ended up in the ED a few weeks ago. ED staff, from the MDs to transport were fantastic! I was admitted for 2 nights and was very pleased with the care! Everyone was fantastic! I would especially like to praise my nurses, but can't remember their names. I'm from Boston and doubt I would have received better care there. 5 Stars!

I recently had to go to Watauga medical center ER. I found everyone I dealt with from reception to the physician to be very professional and helpful. This was also a day where the whole hospital was learning a new computer system. The staff that cared for me was easy to work with and informative. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We are from out of town and had to make an unexpected visit to the ER yesterday. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean everything was. We were checked in with ease and had barely sat down before we were called into triage and then were in a room. Just a few moments later, the doctor was there checking my daughter out. About 20 minutes later, XRay was actually brought to us and done in the comfort of the hospital room. We were there just a little under 2 hours. The sections of the hospital that I visited were very clean and everyone was super friendly. I am very happy with the care my daughter received.

Incredible experience with this hospital and staff. I crashed my Mt Bike at Beech Mountain breaking a rib, clavicle, and punctured a lung. Visiting the area from Wilmington, NC on our annual family getaway was not on the agenda but the hospitals entire team of medical professionals performed in what can only be said, elite. I could not have imagined any hospital provide better care to me as well as my visiting family members.

Had a unexpected visit to the Er on 7/26 while visiting Boone. From the Ambulance ride to the Triage nurse Amanda and her colleagues, my care was top priority. I would highly recommend Watauga medical center, if you want caring and compassionate professionals. Look forward to meeting all of you under different circumstances.

Long story short, the doctors avoided a C-section for my wife’s pregnancy and allowed her to progress naturally. Very thankful for this birthing staff! Great and personal people. We’ve had two kids here and were impressed both times.

I recently had a knee replacement and spent the bit there.I can say I have been in several hospitals and have never been treated as well as I was and taken care of.I was on the 3rd floor and the nurses were real nurses!Took such good care of me

I was on a girl's trip with friends and ended up in the ER. From the moment I arrived til I left the next day I was treated like I was their only patient. Everyone from admissions to the janitor was smiling, polite and made me feel very at ease with my first time hospital stay. Thank you to my nurses: Maggie & Marie. The doctors: Dr McGhee & Dr Schlake. The or staff kept me calm. I can't say enough good things about this hospital.

Had surgery at WMC last week. I had never received care at this hospital before but I choose WMC and a specialist in Boone (an hour and a half away from where I live) since friends said they got great care here. The newly opened tower is quite nice and everyone from registration, surgical services and anesthesiology were extremely kind, caring and competent. The whole process was very efficient and I was very satisfied with the care I received.
