My friend Dorothy and i visits there several times a month. It is unique because of the variety of old albums, art work and memorabilia. My friend loves looking thru the albums for her collection. Store employees are really friendly and knowledgeable about litature and music. ENJOY

This is such a nice place to find used records and books. The owners are amazing people as well. Very friendly and helpful. Had an issue with a record I thought was scratched...brought it in...and they helped clean it up for me.

The concerts they hold are pretty great as well. Local and out-of-town acts in a bookstore setting makes for a very fun and unique experience. Definitely recommend stopping by.

Imagine books and records is a bookstore unlike any other in that no matter who you are or what kind of day (or life you've had) you will always be welcomed and greeted with a smile by the friendly staff.
Their record selection is one of the grooviest in town and the owner takes great lengths to procure the raddest books ever written.
They are an awesome music venu that hosts and promotes numerous local acts.
Everyone should check it out at least once!

I'm not someone who goes to imagine regularly but oh god when i go I fall in love every time. the atmosphere is so great, there's always amazing music being played , and the people are some of the most intriguing souls I've come across. I wish I had the guts to actually start conversations with them. plus imagine regularly hosts great events with amazing artists. this is the book/record store other bookstores wish they were

Such a phenomenal book store (slash live music venue) that I'll absolutely be returning to as often as I'm able. The owner was such a delight to talk to and I felt very welcomed and comfortable here.

Saw some bands play there yesterday it was great! They were friendly and had a good selection of records. I'm a jazz fan and saw some django rhinehart, Miles Davis and Nat Alderlly records I'd love to have at a reasonable price. Will definitely be going back.

Owner and one of the greatest people you will ever meet, Don Hurd will welcome you with a big smile and talk to you like you've known each other for years. With his great knowledge in books, Don will lead you to find what you're looking for and even suggest other books in relation to your topic. Don't forget the huge vinyl collection. A person can spend hours going through a great collection of music. I mention all this because this is my personal experience every time I walk in to Imagine. A place where I've met interesting people and made new friends. Imagine Books and Records is one of my favorite places to visit and look forward visiting every time.

Book selection that never disappoints, incredible finds on vinyl, and a knowledgeable and pleasant, always ready to give spot-on suggestions. Really, where else can you walk out with a hardback Salinger, and a 1st pressing Springsteen? Truly the coolest bookstore San Antonio.

Great atmosphere, great music, and a fantastic selection of both books and records! The staff was friendly and we jad a great conversation about music last time I was in! They always have new things in so I can return agian and agian and always find something new and interesting!

This place is a gem for people wanting to find hidden goodies. There's a nice collection of records, a few hundred, and there is a wide range of vintage and used books. The owner is kind, and I feel very welcome here.

My appreciation for Imagine and its owner, Don, can't be expressed in words. It's my first stop for records and books in San Antonio and I fervently try to steer as many people as possible to this independent bastion of sounds and words. Imagine also supports the local scene in more ways than one; frequently hosting poetry readings or musical events, it's one of the few places in San Antonio that actually cares about cultivating a culture. Incredibly thankful for this outlet!

Great selection of books, huge Stephen King collection and the whole border trilogy from Cormac McCarthy. Ezra is a really nice guy doing cool stuff with the store. Check it out

Best venue in SA purely because of the awesome community behind it and the family who built it. On top of that they’re a solid record store. You find stuff you probably wouldn’t find at bigger places.

This place is the bee's knees. Complete fluid movement, no pops, or cracks about it. just solid, fully functional bee knee. If you asked this place to get you a heavy thing, they would use proper lifting procedures, but not before an hour of stretch yoga.

They also provide mind-lubricating synovial coffee derived from the patellaric hills of Popliteal. Please sit in one of their colorful veagan chairs, and enjoy vinyl music, carced from the vertebrae of the extinct, blackened with time, aged to excellence.

Nice family-run bookstore that is well educated on all things music, literature, and film. Their shelves are frequently updated with new things that I am certain something is already there waiting for you.
Excelling in keeping wonderful things In stock is not their only forté.

Over the years, Imagine has become a gardener of sorts, attracting creative minds young, and less-young, and propagating growth by offering not only a venue to express yourself free of censorship, and charge, but a welcoming, open-minded, and veritable community rich in creativity, and kindness. I can say without a doubt in my heart that Imagine has become a part of my own family.

Other bookstores are grieving in the gardens of their mothers.
