We were looking for something different between Champaign and Danville. The reviews were good so we gave it a try. We were not disappointed! Excellent steaks, burgers and soups. Blend that with a cute atmosphere and good service and we'll be back

We’ve eaten at wheelhouse many times. It is an excellent rest place for a long cycling ride!we have been for all three meals. The brunch was great. We got French toast. We also love the burger and cheese curds! They have changing seasonal plates which is great. We really appreciate the farm to table focus and the cozy dining room with bicycle themed art!

We were driving down I74 and needed lunch. Found this place and were not disappointed. We all had burgers with fries. They tasted great. We got some of the dustings on the fries (parmesan and the salt and vinegar) both were good. If you like parmesan, you get plenty of it. The salt and vinegar was a little more subtle. Had the chocolate cake and pumpkin pie creme brulle. Both quite tasty as well. Will go back when passing through St Joseph.

Great local spot with farm to table high quality food conveniently located off the highway. We had the wheelhouse burger and chicken entrée, both were excellent. Great flavor and with a chef feel. Loved the vibe and the waitress was really nice and accommodating. Highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious food every time. Tonight we ordered cheese for our fries. Unbeknownst to the waitress they didn’t have any prepped. The chefs in the back whipped some up for my wife and I on the spot. These folks are amazing.

This place is so cute!!! The interior is very well decorated in a bike theme that was unexpected (I was thinking ship wheel lol) with full bicycles hung on the wall and fun posters and art. The lighting and atmosphere is laid back and kind of quiet, which I loved. My partner and I wanted to try some place new and St Jo is not too far from where we live so we decided to try a restaurant there. I looked at their online menu and wasn't sure (I was kind of feeling like bar food lol, and this place is definitely not that) but let me tell you, it was the best place I've been out to eat in a long time. The service was exceptional. When we walked in we were greeted and sat right away, our server (who was an angel, just extremely sweet!) made me a super delicious mocktail as I don't drink alcohol. The food took a little time, but you could tell it was freshly cooked and was fantastic. They have this amazing homemade tomatillo ketchup... To die for. I ended up buying a little container of it to take home. Over all, with drinks and an appetizer it was still under $50 for two, and the portions are very generous. There are some pricier menu options (we had sandwiches) but honestly we plan on going back to try some of them, the duck sounded amazing. 10/10 would absolutely reccomend. Would give give a higher rating if it let me 🤣. And next time I'm taking pictures.... The food looked and tasted so good I completely forgot 🤣

My friends and I decided to check this place out for the first time in the spirit of Champaign restaurant week. We were so impressed with the quality of the food here. I had pan seared shrimp soufflé as appetizer, duck breast as entree and peanut butter tiramisu as dessert. Gotta tell you the duck breast was amazing. Half of my friends also ordered duck breast and all of them were very happy with it so I could say the food quality is very consistent. The tiramisu was okay but my husband’s bread pudding was to die for. the only downside was we had to wait a little long for the food. But perfection takes time and it was totally worth the wait. I will definitely come back for more duck breast and bread pudding!

Very cool place, definitely worth coming through for a weekend brunch. Not a large selection, but all offerings tried at my table were quite yummy. Service was kind, the place was clean and had a good aesthetic. Prices were reasonable as well considering the location. Food came out a bit slow, but not bad enough to drop a star.

Absolutely fantastic creative food and such friendly staff! Had an enjoyable evening eating at the bar, sat next to a charming elderly person who eats there at least a couple of times a week because it’s so great!

Loved everything about my experience. Had 2 glasses of wine pan seared chicken which was absolutely amazing as were the potatoes, etc. Not sure i will try anything else because it was so good. Great service!

In addition to the great food and drink, this place is a great location for bikers riding on the Kickapoo rail trail, and has wonderful service and great music. I will definitely be back.

I really enjoyed food here. Everything we had - cheese curds, salads, mussels, pork cutlet, cheesecake - was fantastic. The ingredients were fresh, and it's cooked excellently. I like the atmosphere, cozy and charm. The service was nice. It was a great experience!

Update
Each time I visit here the food brings joy. The Buffalo fried chicken sandwich was perfection.

Ryan & Abbie have created a monster...

Located right in between Padanos' and Roch's, is a foodie's wet dream! Cozy up to the bar, and have Rick make you one of his signature cocktails, or if you're just feeling like some beer and cheese curds, (they have some excellent choices on draft) then grab a table and peruse the many options from their excellent bottled/canned beer selection. Alternatively, you could also let the staff walk you through their seasonal menu to see what they recommend.

Ryan's culinary skills really shine through in the presentation. The duck and pea purée surprised me with it's simplistic elegance. Served in a mason jar, popping the top will transport you to an outdoor smoke pit bbq, and within seconds, everyone in the room will be asking for an invitation.

Now onto the main course. While I was recommended the Chicken Saltimbocca, just below on the menu something else caught my eye. An unfathomably rich and deeply layered dish that even the south couldn't hold back...the awesome expression that is Shrimp & Grits!

Let's just say, that from here on out, it was game over...two beer flights, the house sangria, and one Central Coast Pinot later, and I was singing the songs of my people.

The Wheelhouse is truly one of the greatest expressions of farm to table cuisine that I've had the pleasure of experiencing.

TLDR; Abbie's the bees knees!

Excellent and great portions. So flavorful and great wait staff. Easy parking, kid friendly and not far from CU.

The fries, cheese curds, tomato soups and Korean chicken sandwich were top notch.

Biscuits and gravy were good, but it could have been hot and not just warm. Taters were hot and delicious! We'll be back.
