It's a great hill for tubing. It cost just $10 per rental and the average person will last about an hour. For us, we went up 3 times. It took about 15 minutes to get up the hill and a quick 40 seconds to come down. I have no idea how quick we were coming down, but it was fast.

Great trails and natural areas. In another section there was a popular lake with fishing and boat rentals. Campground near the lake

Nice spot on the North side of Butterfield Rd that we visited with our cub scout pack. There were Rangers there to lead a fishing outing. They bought the fishing gear and bait.
It was my son's first time fishing. The pond is located near the shelter by the archery range. This pond is a catch and release pond.
There are roads here and signs to help you navigate once inside the preserve. Parking lots are a decent size as well. I didn't drive to other parts of the preserve.
As far as restrooms, there was a porta potty where we were at. It was one of the larger ones and the walkway is paved so a wheelchair can be used in this area.

This place is magical. Hiking, kayaking, camping, picnic areas, archery range, bike paths. In some spots you feel like you are secluded and away from city life. Very calming.

Great place to rent or launch your own Kayak. If using your own you must have a permit that also grants access to multiple other lakes. Have wonderful places for BBQs or just to rest and enjoy a picnic in the shade. Also a GREAT sledding hill in the winter!

Blackwell is great - I use it for a reliable 3 mile hike and Cub Scout campouts. The trails are in good shape, there are restrooms around, and the maps are useful.

Great forest preserve with watercraft rental over summer. Decent fishing aa well. Nice trails which extend North to McGee marsh.

Nice dogpark with plenty of shade for summer visits.

Youth campground has decent size sites with water and portable toilets.

Relaxing, fun, beautiful. You can rent kayaks and canoes on the lake, it's fairly priced, and a lot of fun. Go solo or with the family. They provide life jackets as well. The trails are true woods. Not much of that left in Illinois, but this preserve has it. You can go fishing as well! Just good times.

Beautiful scenery! It is a great place for a nice walk/run/bike ride. The place was also very clean and well maintained. Good place to enjoy nature as well. People in the area are very friendly as well. Saw a lot of pretty birds, ducks and heard all kinds of frogs! Could also be a great place to teach young kids about wetlands and the animals that live there. Will visit again!

Beautiful and clean. This is our go to place over the weekend or any other day when we want to just have a fresh mind. The place has a long trail and nice views. There is a boating place as well including a tube.

A fantastic place to boat, fish, hike, picnic or sled. They've recently undergone a significant restoration project to re-meander the Springbrook Creek that runs through Blackwell. Come take a look at the new wetland installations and all the native animals they draw in.
