It’s rare to find genuine care and professionalism as powerful as Dr. Jolene Shuman, MD. Her skills and empathetic bedside nature have been a guiding light.

Prior to meeting Dr. Shuman, my experiences with other doctors were nothing short of disheartening. I was often dismissed, my concerns undermined, and at times was even left in physical pain because of a doctor's failure to acknowledge symptoms. However, from my very first appointment with Dr. Shuman, I came with a long list of concerns: from smoking cessation to weight management and sleep apnea treatment. Dr. Shuman didn't just hear my concerns; she actively listened, seeking to understand not just my symptoms but also my preferences and comfort. She effectively connected me with a medical supplier who respected my choice of sleep apnea mask, reinforcing the importance of my comfort and familiarity with treatment. From my very first visit, she made me comfortable, ensuring an environment of trust.

When I was diagnosed with diabetes, she stepped into action, ensuring I had the necessary resources and education. She introduced me to a dietitian to understand the intricacies of food in relation to my condition, rather than simply prescribing medication and sending me off.

When my youngest child needed specific transgender transition services, Dr. Shuman directed us towards Dartmouth's respected program, once again exhibiting her depth of knowledge and commitment to her patients.

Every visit to her office has been a heartwarming experience where I felt seen as a person, not just a case. She remembers our previous conversations, from the mundane to the more significant, creating an atmosphere of genuine human connection. She is the kind of doctor who knows her patients not just by their medical histories but also by their stories.
A graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine, board-certified in Family Practice, Dr. Shuman's qualifications are extensive. Yet, it is not merely her credentials that set her apart. Her kindness, honesty, and unwavering commitment to her patients are what truly define her practice. She has helped organize pine derbies for the local girl scouts troop!

Above all, Dr. Shuman's active listening and empathetic approach to medicine have made a significant difference in my life.
In the future, if she ever decides to move her practice, I will follow without hesitation. I’d drive hours to see her. Her exceptional care and genuine concern for her patients make her an irreplaceable figure in my healthcare journey.

It is without reservation that I highly recommend Dr. Jolene Shuman. For those seeking a physician who combines unparalleled medical expertise with genuine compassion, she is the ideal choice. Her remarkable ability to listen actively and empathize with her patients sets a standard all healthcare professionals should aspire to. It's not just about treating symptoms; it's about treating people--and that's where Dr. Shuman excels.

Exceeds all expectations! Dr. Shuman is my family physician. She cares for my 5 and 14 yr old, my husband and myself. We started with another PCP and after meeting her, switched our whole family! I recommend Dr. Shuman for patients of all ages.

This is a review of Dr. Jolene Shuman. She's the most competent and professional doctor I've had as an adult. I am confident in her knowledge and abilities. She was always on top of my symptoms and was up to speed on my records - every time she walked in the exam room. She always made time to listen to me and hear my concerns. She was professional and sympathetic and caring. When she left the practice at Martin's Point, I was gutted but, I too, left them- as they are understaffed and the practice and management is substandard. Most days they don't even answer the phone. Will wait to see where she goes and will follow.

Dr. Shuman is a sensitive, smart, caring doctor who immediately made me feel comfortable being in her office during this pandemic that we are experiencing. She was responsive to my needs without hesitation. I definitely recommend Dr. Shuman!

I think they are pretty decent they have almost everything in the building
Doctor orders blood work
You don't have to go to another building
Just go to the blood work office down the hall!

Dental might be slow but they have that too

My doctor is very nice

I have been seeing Doctors form this practice for more than 20 years. They try there best with so many patients. The doctors know what they are doing but you have to be on top of your own health care. You have to follow up or call specialist. They do operate on a sliding scale and treat everyone.

I've been seeing these people for a long time and they've always been very kind but payment isn't convenient since you have to call in every time and if you don't get through LORD KNOWS WHEN THEY'LL GET BACK TO YOU there is no option to be connected to billing in the automated phone system and no option to pay online so really a HUGE HASSLE

My mother is an elderly patient of Dr. Shuman. I accompanied her to a visit last week. Upon the start of the visit, Dr Shuman states: “You have 5 minutes - that’s it.” From there it got worse…

My mother is overweight; diabetes and hypothyroidism runs in the family. Dr Shuman has never tested my mother for either condition. Dr Shuman was already doing blood work for my mother during the visit. I asked her to test my mother’s A1C and thyroid. Note that all the doctor had to do was literally check a few extra boxes in the lab form - that’s it. Yet she refused with no rationale.

At one point while questioning her, she yelled at me and told me that I wasn’t a doctor.

I have been a healthcare professional for over 20 years - this was the most unprofessional and non data driven experience I have seen in medicine.

Dr Shuman should not be practicing medicine, and I highly recommend that if you have a parent to keep them away from her.

I went here for my prenatal care, being a first time mom I did not know what to expect but I was redused service for 3 months because I was "fine" after haveing abdonimal pain, the flu and a fever for 2 days. I eventually went to the ER because the receprionist told me to just drink water and eat crackers. My 20 week check up was postponed due to my doctor taking an extended vacation and when I called to ask questions I got nowhere. I get rude comments like "didnt you just an ultrasoud?" Yea, 3 months ago, and told im fine. People who should be caring about your health shouldn't treat people like this. My life and my babys life is important. I switched care.

I wouldn’t even give this place a star, but I have to in order to post it. Today was the second time I had an issue with my appointment here. As a little kid my Mom always hated this place... and now I understand why. I had made an appointment and they called and had to reschedule because my doctor called out. Then this time around, I made an appointment and on the phone the lady offered 8:15 or 9:00. I told the lady 9:00 because there was no way I would be able to get there for 8:15 and I even wrote it in my notes on my phone as I was talking to her and I get there at 9:00 to check in for my appointment after driving 20 mins there with little sleep and the lady tells me “you’re appointment was at 8:15” when no it wasn’t. She offered to reschedule me in a week, which I find unfair considering I was suppose to be in for today. Safe to say the receptionist suck and don’t know how to do their job correctly. I’m very disappointed and will be finding a new place to go to.

They lost custody papers for my granddaughter and wouldn’t vaccinate her.they stated all they had was expired ones. I gave them the papers on 3 separate occasions that stayed I have custody till she is 18. Keeping track of records is part of the job. Right? The lady on the phone says well we just need an updated letter. What did you do with the last 3 I gave you? So my wife and granddaughter had to drive all the way back home to give them a 4th copy. While my granddaughter is missing school during all this. UNACCEPTABLE! Some people have no choice but to go here. If you have a choice you should seek other options. I am certainly trying to find another place to go. It took 2hrs after everything was all said and done to receive a couple vaccinations. WOW

Absolutely Atrocious Care! These so called professionals have done nothing but disrespect my disabled mother since she was forced into their care. Her last visit, the nurse practitioner snapped at my mother rudely for not understanding what she was trying to say as my mother was asking for help that didn't make her violently ill.

Anyone who is looking to go here, TURN BACK for your own health and welfare.

I overheard, rather loudly, the front desk staff talking about how much they hate working there. Hearing this shattered the already little confidence I had in Avis Goodwin. This is absolutely not the place to go for a dental emergency. It might cost more to go elsewhere, but honestly, you'll be doing yourself a favor.

The dentists here would get along well with Steve Martin's character from Little Shop of Horrors.

Made an appointment for my toddler son who was having random fevers and congestion issues. I walked in 7 minutes late due to traffic and was told the Dr couldn't see my son because I was 10 minutes late!!! Yup! They "care" about the patients. Time to look for a new healthcare provider!!

Never called me to set up an appointment for my daughter to become a new patient. You guys clearly don't care about the health and well being of a child with special needs . Place should be shut down . Such a scam
