Very proffesional staff and Dr.Darcy was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to me and answer all of the questions I had!. They offer lots of different services there and if you work overnights , you can set a appt up over voicemail! Very convenient!

Feet are not my favorite part of the body, but they need care, too. I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable, and despite my feeling very embarrassed about the condition of my feet, the doctor was very pleasant and completely set me at ease. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions fully. They clearly strive to be the best!

I would add that I have not had ANY phone issues, and I was easily able to reach a person to speak with. I mainly say that because I almost NEVER reach my phone before it stops ringing, and i always have to return calls to set up appointments. I had no difficulty getting through to a live person, and my appointment was only about two weeks later. Thank you for the excellent care, in all aspects!

Doctor Darcy is outstanding, as a physician.
I highly recommend him and travel a distance to see him. I am a retired RN. I cannot say enough for
How he treats patients pre and post operatively.
He is a good diagnostician. He listens to the patient.
The orthotics are well done and pain management outstanding. So He gets 5 Star!

However patients are dealing with same phone system ( previous reviewer complained of) that prevents patients from talking to a doctor or human being. Infact, patients are told "if they know their party's extension to enter it!" How many patients know the staff names or extensions?
If you call you are forced to leave a message.
Someone will call back at their leisure.
There is no human being that answers the phone to say Acadia Foot and Ankle how may I help you?
This is unacceptable, impersonal, and prevents from getting the care and help needed.
(The previous reviewer said this and apparently it remains unfixed.)

If you tell the call back appointment person that you are having a lot of pain and trouble bearing weight,
You are told that you will have wait 3-4 weeks to see a doctor. Again , a human being "could" show caring by telling patient that they will be put on cancellation list and called if a slot opens up.

The practice has " A Ten Minute Rule"
They do not tell patients making appointments about this rule. IF YOU ARE TEN MINUTES LATE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT YOU ARE SENT HOME, YOUR APPOINTMENT IS CANCELLED, AND YOU ARE TOLD TO RESCHEDULE. The rule has no flexibility.
So if the patient is experiencing pain, mobility
Issues, traffic or weather or a long commute you are abruptly sent home. That means waiting another 3-4 weeks in pain? Again if patients could talk to a human being that had empathy and compassion this should not happen.
Again with the phone system you cannot contact a human being, a doctor, or anyone other than leave a message.
If you request voice mail for Doctor Darcy they will not return your call with a voice mail number.
You cannot have your call transferred to Doctor Darcy's voice mail because no human being answers the phone to make the transfer.
Why not simply ask patients to come in10-15 minutes early?
How sad for patients in pain waiting 3-4 weeks to get an appointment to be sent home due to THE ACADIA FOOT AND ANKLE 10 Minute Rule to be forced to wait another 3-4 weeks in Pain.?

And so to patients, Doctor Darcy is very good as a physician. He is personable and kind.
He explains well. His surgery and treatment are outstanding.
But........the office is totally mis-managed.
It is not patient friendly, kind, or welcoming
The phone system does not have a human being to talk to. No human answers a phone. There is no way to talk to the physician via computer, text or voice mail.
The 10 Minute Rule is punitive in that the patient is not told about it. A well managed staff could see patients relating to first come first serve basis.
And why have a ten minute rule for patients with walkers canes, pain and ambulatory issues?
Why not be kind and compassionate and have them come in early? Why is that so difficult?

Again, Doctor Darcy is excellent and outstanding and very worth seeing .

I arrived in Bangor Monday from Cape Cod,a five hour drive . My appointment was at 2:00.
I arrived in Bangor at 2:13. I was told that there was a ten minute rule and my appointment was canceled due to the 10 minute rule. I told the woman that I had been driving from Boston since 8:30
AM. I asked her if She was telling me to drive back to Boston?? I repeated it several times.
She said " sorry, if you are more than 10 minutes late for an appointment we cancel it and you just have to re schedule and drive back to Boston!. I repeated the question in disbelief . YOU ARE TELLING ME TO DRIVE BACK TO BOSTON? And again she Said YES YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO DRIVE BACK.

I called the robotic phone system and requested Doctor Darcy's voice mail.
It was never sent . There Was no way to contact a Human Being!
And yes this 70 year old gal cried on the trip back to the Cape.

Short on doctor's and nurses and front help. The place look clean and out of the way...

Customer service is crucial and being able to end a phone call professionally should be important to a business as it leaves a lasting impression with the customer.

.. just throwing caution to the wind! If this is how they to choose to handle their interactions, I can only imagine how the actual appointments go when you seriously need care. I am seeking care elsewhere.

I got voicemail when I called to make an appointment. The person who called me back a day later was extremely rude. The website gives misleading info. My insurance does not require a referral. Apparently this office has (recently?) decided they require a referral. I told them it doesn't say that on your website. The excuse for the required referral not being on the website was they are shorthanded. It would take maybe 5 minutes to provide accurate info on the website. I was also told to go to any doctor to get a referral and an xray. The Acadia Foot & Ankle website says they can do xrays there. Why should any patient have to get xrays from "any" other doctor. Clearly they don't want me as a patient. The employee told me they are booked into March so maybe their required referral policy is a way to see fewer patients. March is too long of a wait anyway. The rudeness of this employee reinforces my need to contact a different practice.

I was 9 minutes late for my appointment that I had been waiting 3 weeks for and they wouldnt see me. Then rescheduled for me for 3 weeks later. This place is ridiculous. Scheduled with Downeast Orthopedics for 3 days later. I will never go to Acadia Foot and Ankle for nothing.
