I was able to meet Dr. Benoit and Dr. Rumsey.
Dr. Rumsey ended up doing my surgery. I cannot recommend highly enough he and his team. I was treated with respect and never felt uncomfortable or intimidated. All questions were answered with kindness and patience. They made my experience the best it could be. Thank you!

I rarely write reviews but I absolutely love Dr. Benoit and he’s worth writing one. What a treasure of a man and a clinician who practices with excellence. He was an answer to much prayer. I am an occupational therapist, so to me a client-centered approach, compassion and patient education are top priority.
Rewind to Nov. 2021 in Florida, I had a traumatic birth with my first child which unfortunately ended in C-section. Following the surgery I had excruciating pain that was left unaddressed each time I spoke to the surgeons at that practice in Orlando… I became depressed and anxious because I didn’t have answers and no hope of finding any. In January 2021 I moved back to Maine. The pain diminished over time but at times it was so bad. My sister and mother couldn’t say enough good things about Dr. Benoit. I obviously trust their judgement and when I finally went to see him he was so wonderful. He discovered what was wrong and he performed a surgery to bring order back to my body. He was quite literally the hands and feet of God and blessed me so much by caring about me as a human. He listened to every concern. And let me tell you I had a lot. He didn’t poopoo them even if they sounded weird. No. Instead he saw someone who had been through something traumatic and was anxious because of it. He is extremely patient and gentle and my only disappointment is that he won’t be practicing forever. He is extremely knowledgeable. I like him as a person too. When I went into the OR, right before they put me under he held my hand and it made me feel so cared for that I had tears in my eyes. I am so grateful to have found Dr. Benoit.

Dr. Rumsey and his staff are incredible. I have seen many obgyns over the last 20years and Dr. Rumsey is by far the best. He is the most down to earth and caring Doctor I have ever had. He truly cares about his patients. I am so thankful I was under his care before, during and after my pregnancy. I can't thank him enough for all that he has done for me.

Not very many doctors end up feeling like part of your family. Dr. Benoit has not only been our doctor for over 2 decades, but has delivered 18 of my immediate family’s babies. (Let alone numerous friend’s babies) His experience and attentiveness is top notch and he will fight for his patient’s needs and desires. He has become a dear friend and we joke that we want him to live and practice forever.🥰

We had Dr. Benoit deliver both of our babies! Dr. Rumsey helped with the second c-section. They were so happy to do my surgery. They had the best time. It really helped ease my mind on what was actually happening to me. They are simply the best!! They both have the absolute best bed side manner! The office is SO welcoming, and so helpful with the babies/kids when you have to bring them to an appt. Highly recommend them! I'd give them a million stars if I could!

Best OBGYN office around! I’ve seen all 3 providers between my 2 pregnancies and have had nothing but exceptional care. They are all incredibly knowledgeable and I’ve never left an office visit feeling like my concerns went unanswered. The whole staff is caring and friendly, you can tell everyone truly cares about their patients. I’ve had great luck getting appointments same day or next day for acute issues, or at least getting my concerns put at ease over the phone with their clinical staff. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Since being a patient almost 10 years, I’ve always had great experiences at Downeast OBGYN. Dr. Benoit is a phenomenal doctor who goes above and beyond any other provider I have ever had. While he is competent and professional he is also personable and makes you feel like a friend or family member rather than a patient. I wouldn’t have wanted to be under the care of anyone else for my twin pregnancy and their delivery!! If he were accepting new patients, I would recommend him to everyone I know!

Words cannot describe how thankful I am to Dr. Rumsey for saving my daughter’s life and my life. A traumatic and amazing day I will never forget. I am so grateful to him and owe him so much more than a review can provide. He saved me to be able to be here to witness every day of my daughter’s life. This office is so wonderful and the people there are great. I couldn’t imagine not having Dr. Rumsey with me through all of my prenatal and postnatal care.

Dr. Benoit is so wonderful. I can’t even say enough good things about him. He is so thorough and truely cares for his patients. Dr. Rumsey is wonderful as well! The staff is also very friendly!

Best doctor’s office in Bangor. I have been with the office for about 20 years. Dr. Benoit and his staff are nothing short of amazing. He called me at home after a surgery on a Sunday. Best care ever.
