He won't spend you unnecessarily. Why aren't all mechanics this away?

New tires and rear hub.

Came to Howard to get my brakes, rotors and calipers done on my front wheels and he was extremely kind, professional and responsive thought the entire process! Had a minor issue after and he was able to get me in and out the same day! He even looked into an audio issue that I was having and gave suggestions on solutions without me even asking! Really appreciate it and will be back in the future!

Can't speak highly enough of the staff at Minnetonka Auto Service. I brought my Jeep in because it was overheating. They did a number of tests and determined that there were air pockets in the coolant system (likely from a faulty previous coolant flush from another mechanic). They checked and made sure my head gaskets seemed to be alright. Diagnostics, filling my coolant, and running the vehicle to make sure the issue didn't recur ran me about $130 and just a few hours. The crew could have Skene a lot less time looking into and just decided I need to replace the head gaskets (~$3-4k). I will not only be returning for repairs but also for preventative maintenance moving forward.
Also, Howard, Pat, and the rest of the crew couldn't have been more cordial and professional. Not sure how anyone could characterize them otherwise.

I'm honestly shocked at how many negative reviews there are for this business, especially Howard! I was given a quote by AAMCO Transmission Shop in Hopkins for a front passenger axle shaft that "needed" to be repaired even though a brand new axle was installed in March of 2022. I was told at least $300 for part and labor. However I found the part much cheaper online and Howard told me upon contacting Minnetonka Auto Service that he would do it for less. I took my car in and learned that the axle didn't need to be replaced at all and it was just loose sway bar links. SWAY BAR LINKS! I got them replaced, new air filter, spark plugs all at maybe 100 bucks more than AAMCOs estimate for a part I didn't need replaced. Additionally, Howard was polite, helpful and honest the entire time, even though I was 3 hours late dropping my car off. This is my new go to spot and I would have to agree that the 1 star reviews are not a reflection of Howard or this business.

I found this place on Google like 4 or 5 years ago, and I chose them for 2 reasons: the great reviews, and they have free loaner cars available. Very helpful for adding some flexibility to your schedule. Every service I’ve had performed on my car here has been the best quality work and fairest price. I’ve never seen a quote beat theirs, and they will tell you what needs to be fixed and what can wait. These are honest people that you can trust. Any ladies out there terrified of getting ripped off by an auto shop? Fear no more. You will be taken care of here and you can trust what they recommend.

On 04.07.22, I had my car taken in to a different auto shop. My brakes went out and it was the closest shop to my work. They quoted me over $1,400 for just my rear brake system. Howard, the owner, took a look for me and his quote was half the price of the original for the exact same amount of work. It actually ended up being even less because the other auto shop told me both cylinders needed to be replaced and they were fine. Howard also took the liberty of checking the rest of my car and informed me of what needed to be fixed. The front sway bar links were both broken so he replaced those as well. The other auto shop would’ve charged me $300 for those, Minnetonka Auto Service only charged around $150. Grand total of the brakes with the sway bar links: less than $700. He literally did the job originally quoted and some suspension work and it was still less than the quote he gave me.

They do not over charge. They’re kind, smart people, and get the work done quickly. It is worth the drive if you aren’t close. I will never go anywhere else again! Thank you Howard and the team for helping with this situation and just always providing such amazing service! It is refreshing and I’m so grateful to have found a genuinely great company!

Great service and trustworthy mechanics. Had new brakes installed on our Toyota Highlander and was super satisfied with the service. Much better pricing than the dealer! Highly recommend for any auto repair needs.

i was on vacation with my family , when my SUV started leaking break fluid . It was 10 pm on Sunday and i left a message Howard called me back on Monday at 645 am , He was a blessing he had my SUV back in the road by 9 am . I brought my car to Tires Plus originally and they quoted me the amount that was unrealistic. I asked a friend where she takes her car and told me about Howard. He did a good job. His rates are reasonable. He is professional. He even provided a free loaner car for the day! Everyone should take their vehicle to Howard.

I recently had some work done on my 2006 SS Chevy Impala and Howard was great. I have worked with him in the past and he is very trustworthy and knowledgeable. He always explains the situation and what he found to be the problem. He always calls before any work is done and quotes you a price. This time his work was actually under what he quoted and accepted a coupon on top of that. Minnetonka Auto Service is defiantly the best place in the area. I have gone other places and have never felt as reassured as when I go here. I now live way across town and it is still worth fighting all the traffic just to have my vehicle serviced here.

I called to check availability and was told I could come in same day, had wonderful customer service from everyone, Howard, tony, and pat. They called before doing any of the work to confirm what needed to be done and they’re getting everything done in a single day. Amazing place, amazing people. I’m never going to a dealership again.

Minnetonka Auto Service can't be beat!!

They helped my mother figure out the problem with her car and also quoted her a price to fix the issue that was so reasonable. The engine was overheating, after a reasonable priced diagnosis they took the time to explain to her what was going and what could happen if she did not fix the problem. I felt she was given enough information to make the correct decision. Her car was fixed the same day along with a free rental during the repair. They let me pay for half the bill over the phone and for her to pay the rest. Thank you crew at Minnetonka Auto Service. She is very glad to have found some mechanics she feels extremely comfortable with and already trusts, and it was only her first time there. Thank you.

The guys at Minnetonka Auto Service are awesome. I've taken multiple vehicles in for repair here. Two of the vehicles they spent time out of their day to estimate the cost of repairs, we however decided not to go forward with the repairs but they did it all at no cost!
