I don’t know that I’ve ever left a bad review/complaint as I’m one to have a “very long fuse” when it comes to people & experiences, but my most recent experience with Dr. Blaskis and his office was the worst medical experience I have ever had. If I could leave a “zero” star, then I would.

I took my husband to see him on 12/15/21. I made the appt that same morning and told Appointments my husband’s complaints: fever (as high as 102.6 and as low as 100.4), chills, sweats, body ache, headache, dark urine (most likely due to dehydration), and tender kidneys (but unsure as it could have been radiating back pain). When checked in over the phone & answered the COVID questions, the lady responded, “He has all those symptoms now?!” I said, “Yes, that’s why we made the appt. We told the person his symptoms when we made the appt.” She said, “He can’t be seen here. He could have COVID.” I responded, “He had a COVID test on 12/13 - rapid & PCR - at Velocity Care and they were negative.”

I was transferred to someone else, who quite rudely said he couldn’t come in as he could have COVID. I explained his test results again. She said “He could be negative but be asymptomatic.” I said, “Well, he couldn’t be asymptomatic with a fever, but okay…I told appts that he had a fever of 102.6.” She said, “Well ‘has’ and ‘had’ are 2 different words!” I replied, “I said ‘had’ a fever of 102.6 because that’s as high as it had gotten but it’s currently 100.4 now.” She said she would talk to Dr. Blaskis’ nurse.

Once the nurse came on the phone she said Dr. Blaskis suspects Acute Renal Failure and said they don’t have the capabilities to get tests back ASAP and for me to take my husband to the ER. We were not offered a virtual visit. We were not offered to be seen. We asked, “Can we go to Velocity Care?” She said, “Yes. We went ahead and canceled his appt.” We never ask for his appt to be canceled.

We ended up going to Express Family Care in Bonsack. Called at 12:30. Seen at 1:00. Diagnosed with Pneomonia at 1:45 after a negative rapid COVID & chest x-ray.

Dr. Blaskis was going to send my husband to the ER without even calling them ahead. And also sending him right into a concentrated area of COVID. We followed our guts and knew we shouldn’t go to the ER unless there was no other choice and I’m glad we did because getting COVID on top of pneumonia could have been the death of my husband.

My husband and I have never felt more disappointed and alone when leaving a doctor’s office - his primary physician. Dr. Blaskis wouldn’t even talk to him on the phone and we had an appt with him, so he had availability to do so. Dr. Blaskis nor his office called me or my husband to follow-up after directing us to the ER. Express Family Medicine followed up with us 2 days after being seen. I would never recommend Dr. Blaskis or this office to someone. I also feel like the hippocratic oath was not fulfilled.
