Mac and Bob's

Came here for dinner in December but just getting around to writing a review now. Tasty food, it's nothing fancy but it is yummy bar food. Menu is diverse but doesn't have a ton of vegetarian options. Lots of seating, friendly service, fun atmosphere.

Great salmon. Large selection of quality beers. Shrimp very fresh in shrimp tacos. Fish and fries were great

Came here with my cross country team & had a great experience :) We were seated immediately (we had 13 ppl), the service was super fast, and the food was yummy! I ordered the salmon.

Very family friendly atmosphere. Great place to take the family for dinner after work or to watch a game. Food was very good! Like, bar food but actually delicious. Wait staff was also very friendly and attentive.

Haven't eaten here in years, but a friend chose this for dinner. We arrived right at dinner time. The outdoor seating area was almost full but still had a few tables open. We opted for indoor dining, which was quickly becoming full as well. The bar area was crowded. The menu does have a diverse selection, but not quite my taste. I opted for a small Salem salad. Comes with chicken tenders, ham and generous veggies over romaine and iceberg lettuces, along with an adult beverage 😁. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. Service from the kitchen was quite slow, but still giving 5 stars because I expect a dinner rush to be slower than normal. Salad was delicious and the perfect healthy dinner option. The small size was still enough for two people, so keep that in mind.

After a long hike up to Dragon's Tooth and back, my best friend and I stopped at this restaurant for lunch. The food was excellent and the adult beverages were ice cold. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere was great. There must have been some issue with the men's restroom though since the Roto-Rooter guys were there working on something. Overall this is a great place to spend time with family and friends. I highly recommend Mac and Bob's. I will definitely be back.

Good spot and location. Grabbed a bison burger (and possibly a piece of their cheeseccake to go) after stopping at a local micro brewery up the street. All was good and as expected. Seating at indoor and outdoor deck as well as the bar. The bartender, whose name escapes me other than her name began with a K, was friendly and on top of things. I'd go there again if ever in the area.

Mack and Bob’s was recommended from our hotel. I just cannot say thank you enough! The menu offerings made it difficult to choose but we both got the Marsala Chicken … WOW! It was amazing! We’ll make this a regular stop just to get it again or maybe branch and try another menu item. Any way around I’m sure I’ll enjoy anything I order! Service was fantastic too.

Very unique and busy restaurant that we stopped in for lunch on our road trip back to New Jersey. Food and service were excellent. I had the french dip sandwich and it was one of the best french dips I have had in a long time. I also got a cup and the French onion soup and it was delicious. My husband got the Turkey sandwich and he loved it as well. Really cool place!

This is THE destination for anyone coming to Virginia's Blue Ridge. The only place you must stop to grab a bite to eat. So much history, thanks for being amazing supporters of the community over the years.

The food here is ALL good. Calzones are good for two people, or in my case three dinners. And delicious!!!

First trip here. Was impressed at once by the atmosphere. Was seated very quickly and had a waitress taking our drink orders almost immediately. Very large menu with plenty of choices for anyone. Drinks were refilled many times and my glass never got more than half empty. Food arrived in a timely fashion and everything was hot and delicious.

This local stop has a ton of charm and flavor. I'm a celiac so I'm always on the watch for issues that will make me sick- they've been so good lately about understanding what the issue is (no wheat, barley or rye), what meals have breaded stuff or cross contamination cuts, and what the best substitutes are. I have enjoyed the salad options here lately! Most stops have bigger salads, but M&B has several loaded salads that satisfy even the pickiest eaters!

Been here a few times before, but been awhile. Great local eatery in Salem near Roanoke College, that's been in business for over 40 years now. Met my Daughter there tonight after both of us got off work. This has become one of her favorite places. Erin(sp?) our Waitress was too shelf, never missed a beat. Daughter & I shared their Garlic Knots, which were delicious. Marinara was good, but they really "pop" with their Ranch! Daughter had the Evan & I had the Kendall Sized Boston (small that is massive). If you live in area, visiting Roanoke College or driving through Salem from wherever...... DEFINITELY a place worth stopping & trying 😋

Prices may seem a little high, but the portion size is very large and I felt like I more than got my moneys worth. Will definitely return if I am in the area again.

Whenever I go to Salem, I have to eat at Mac & Bob's. There is a great variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and entrees to choose from. The service is quick and friendly. I got a Cobb salad, and my only negative comment is that I asked for "no bacon" and the salad came with a pretty large stack of bacon on top. I have an allergy, so it's not an option for me to go ahead and eat it. The server fixed it quickly and I didn't see a sliver of bacon anywhere. My friends also enjoyed their lunches.

Only good to talk about: Went here for lunch and had a great experience. Most food was around the $10-13 range and my Stromboli tasted great. Service was quick and the meal had a great presentation as well as taste. Atmosphere was pleasant and this is a true original restaurant. The menu had a little bit of everything with a wide selection of beer, wine, and the more popular cocktails. Highly recommend eating here.

Had a great experience tonight for dinner at Mac and Bob’s. Party of 10 and Kailey did not miss a beat. Food and service were fabulous. We all cleaned our plates. Will definitely be back. Great margarita and beer, wine and bourbon selection.

Thanks, Mac'N Bob for the wonderful lunch yesterday!! It was my hubby's birthday & he has always wanted to try one of those bison burgers on your menu, he said it was VERY GOOD!! I had the club sandwich which was delicious as well & our waitress was a sweetheart. Since, I work as a front office agent at the Hampton Inn-Salem, I do enjoy letting all my guest who are traveling through that your restaurant is one of the best in the area. We are also members of the CommUNITY Church & we love being a supportive part of our community and your restaurant is a historical icon in the area. Thank you, again for being as good as you are and please always stay that way in the years to come. We will definitely be back to eat again real soon.

Mac and Bobs has the goods. If my daughter chooses to be a Maroon, I will for sure have four good years of good eats here. Great diverse menu and wonderful atmosphere.
