Cute but slightly hard to find place with lackadaisical service. This is offset by their willingness to let my wife bring some of her own food on account of some severe dietary restrictions she has to deal with. I went to the SC as part of an effort to find the best (in my opinion) biscuits and gravy in the area, and this place is a contender for my top 2. The 2 times I've gone up until now, I had a bowl of their rhubarb crisp for a pre-breakfast/brunch appetizer; it's really good. Their biscuits are flat and dense but delicious, and their gravy is very good too. They confirmed that they don't use oil in their biscuits, but they do use cow's milk cream. (I've stopped eating the biscuits at Hops N Drops due to the fact they have soybean oil in them.) Next time (and there will be a next time) I go to the SC, I need to remember to take green Tabasco sauce with me; they only have red Tabasco and equivalents (e.g., Tapatío). They add some kind of herb to the top of their fried eggs; I really like that they don't just serve them up plain. They'd lose a star for their service, but because I was able to have my wife with me there so we could eat with some friends, they get the star back.

this is a cute little café with very friendly staff and delicious food. i got the club sandwich on sourdough with the pasta salad. the salad was tangy and is not mayonnaise based which was great on a hot day. the sandwich had a good amount of meat, perfect ratio bread to meat/cheese in my opinion. the bread was nice and soft with just enough mayonnaise to give moisture without being too much. i will definitely be back and will need to try some of the delicious sounding desserts.

Probably the best cafe food in downtown Sumner that you can study at. Also the bakery has nice baguettes when in stock

Best breakfast in Sumner. Pancakes are homemade and so flavorful. Best coffee in town.

This was an amazing breakfast! I got the golden burrito. The burrito was golden crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The eggs were delicious! They were seasoned really well and you could even see the seasoning. There was the right blend of sausage, eggs, potatos, and cheese. There was a side of salsa to dip the burrito. It was delicious with or without the salsa. I will 100% be back!

Such a cozy place to stop in for some Delicious pastries and or coffee. The service was warm and helpful to all of the common questions I'm sure they always have to answer about Mt. RAINIER.. ,But you couldn't tell of any fatigue. Perfect place to get warmed up and chat with strangers and locals. Nice variety of things. Definitely worth the stop.

I found this off Main Street cafe because of Groupon. What a find!!! Charming little cafe on Alder St with great sandwiches, soups, and baked goods. The roast beef is my favorite with a generous helping of beef in the sandwich. The soups are some of the best I have ever tasted and where this place really shines.. The vegetable beef is chocked full of beef and vegetables including three types of beans. The split pea with ham is thick, creamy, rich, and full bodied with a great ham flavor. The tomato basil is a thick creamy soup with a savory tomato flavor. He makes all the muffins, cookies, and pies himself. A friend of mine has a gluten allergy. She loved the gluten free bread used to make her sandwich. She said it was the best she had ever tasted. Many of the soups are gluten free too. The owner and his small staff of servers (2) are friendly and nice to deal with. I very highly recommend this wonderful little cafe and I have been back many times.

Went here today for lunch. We loved it when it was the Boxed Lunch. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was just as good. The clam chowder is so buttery, creamy and divine. The shortbread chocolate cookies are yummy and addicting. If you’re looking for a nice, quaint, quiet place for lunch we highly recommend.

We ordered box lunches for our team and wanted to support a local business. we found Sumner Cafe and Catering online and contacted them. Their response was amazing and the lunches were great. We also ordered muffins and banana bread for the team. The muffins were warm and Sumner Cafe went the extra mile of slicing the banana bread and wrapping it for individual portions. Thank You Daniel and your crew

Went looking for a new place to eat close to the office. Stumbled on this little Gem.

My father and I will be coming here more often. The food was excellent. The flavors all balanced very well together.

I look forward to trying thier other offerings, as this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant is nice and quiet, theres a peaceful aura around the place. Clearly a small operation, but so good!

The food here is awesome, especially the homemade soups and baked goods. You won't be disappointed with any new thing you try on the menu so definitely mix it up if you visit this place multiple times. Be sure to get their "punch card" so you get that free lunch every 10 you buy. Im very picky with my food and this place continues to impress me. If i had to say one thing bad, itd be the wait sometimes oh and how they close at 3p. Though that happens when everyone wants your food at breakfast and lunch. And you are super busy!

I fell in love with this place. Daniel puts his heart into everything he does at The Sumner Cafe. He makes sure to talk to every customer when he personally delivers the sandwiches to the tables. And even returns to ask their opinions and if they have any suggestions. Whether you sit in or order to go, I highly recommend trying this place; homemade soup, homemade baked goods, free fruit for kids, reasonably priced coffee and amazing sandwiches.

Their Bistro Beef Sandwich on a fresh, flakey croissant is simply great. The savory beef with the fresh veggies and creamy mayo makes for a tasty sandwich which I will definitely order again. Definitely beats the competition!

Great place for breakfast and lunch in Sumner. Inexpensive, polite, with good food and great coffee. They take call in orders for box lunches for local businesses. They serve Martin Henry's coffee and make excellent lattes and mochas. Many restaurants in Sumner have huge portions for higher prices. Portions here are appropriate for the price, and the quality is great! This is my favorite place in Sumner for Coffee drinks, breakfast and lunch.

Great food in this quiet, slow-paced town. The California BLT is outstanding and don't forget to add the Tomato Basil soup!!

Love the food. Mostly had their breakfast, but recently had food from the lunch menu as well. Even left with a delicious rhubarb crisp dessert.
