Hoffman's Ice Cream & Deli

My first time here and I will definitely be back! I got Bavarian Raspberry in a waffle cone. It was devine! My boyfriend got a scoop of Banana Fudge and a scoop of Cake Batter. Both of those were really good as well. The ice cream was creamy and had great flavor. The staff (who appeared to be all teenagers) were nice. Prices were very reasonable as well.

Visit #2: Came back again to try some fall flavors. Both the pumpkin and snickerdoodle were good but a little underwhelming. My boyfriend got the apple pie and it was delicious.

Back in the good old days, when times were simpler and easier to understand, they made ice cream in this fashion. Also back in those days, they believed in good honest work, great customer service, and making a great product. This is the ethos of this time machine establishment. Great food, awesome icecream, outstanding people.

I always like to stop and purchase mint chocolate chip by the half gallon. Usually 2 halves plus a 2 dip waffle cone, chocolate almond chip(my all time favorite) and a scoop of chocolate peanut. Nice place. Kids work hard.

There is NOTHING negative I can say about Hoffman’s. It is a Carroll County staple. That’s not the only reason I go there, though. The sandwiches are made to order. If you go in enough, it sounds cliché, but you can say, or they will ask, “the usual” and they will know. The soups are amazing. If you ask at the register they will give you a schedule of the soup of the day for the month. The people behind the counters actually care when they ask how have you been. They know my kid’s names and now even my grandson’s names. I haven’t even gotten to the ice cream and/or milkshakes yet. Don’t take my word for it. Try them yourself. You’ll thank me and will be back.

Quaint little ice cream shop that stays busy. It really is no wonder they do stay busy too! Their ice cream selection is large and boy is it tasty!

The staff is as sweet as the ice cream. They are a friendly lively bunch that make you feel right at home. You are treated like one of the family and not just as a guest.

The prices are spot on. I got a coffee milkshake and I must say it was one of the best I've had!

I was born and raised in Westminster, MD until we moved overseas. We used to go to Hoffman's after our baseball games and the ice cream was always amazing.

Since we were visiting Maryland, I brought my own kids here and it was every bit as good as I remembered from my childhood years.

The girls loved it too. And WOW that S'mores Sundae is incredible! It's big enough for at least two or three people 🍨.

Ice cream: I had a seasonal flavor, banana. It was good, not too strong or light. My wife had a vanilla sundae, very good as well

Great selection of hand dipped ice cream served in all the different ways. The have containers ready to purchase and take home as well as pre-made ice cream cakes and sandwiches.

There are so few places like Hoffman's left around here. Small town vibe, homemade food and ice cream, decent prices, great service... love having it in our community!

Wonderful mom and pop ice cream shop and deli on Washington Avenue in Westminster MD. Great selection of sandwiches with a small convenience store. Lots of chips and drinks. Highlight is definitely the ice cream. Couple dozen flavors, all great. Shakes, floats, and sundaes. Cones, cups and to go 0ints and quart. Peppermint ice cream is fantastic. Lots of parking. No real outdoor seating, but plenty of space if you have your own chair. Highly recommended!!

They do not have soft serve ice cream/frozen custard here. What they do have is great ice cream in a variety of flavors that are still made by the Hoffman family. They also carry a wide variety of flavors that are made for sale only in the Hoffman family store.
With all of their delicious flavors of fresh ice cream, you may expect that they serve sundaes and other ice cream goodies. You would be correct.
One of their most popular favorites are ice cream cakes.
Their ice cream cake comes in square, rectangular and round shapes traditionally. It can be made with any shape and size upon request. The 'usual cakes' come with chocolate and vanilla layers and "crushed chocolate wafers" between the layers, but you can choose from dozens of the delightful flavors they have available.
The more unique you want your cake to be (original/hand drawn artwork, lots of words to fit, unique cake shapes that need to be handcrafted, etc.) the more you will have to pay in upcharges and the more advance notice I'd recommend. However, they do keep a few fresh standard cakes in the freezer (rosettes or borders in neutral colors without words). There's usually an employee on duty who is able to write a simple message on the cake for you. Examples would be a quote or perhaps something that is a school saying or happy birthday including the name of the person who is being celebrated. I hope this is encouraging you to try out Hoffman's because once you go, you'll come back again.

The best handmade local ice cream in Westminster. They have a large variety. The staff is always friendly and fast, even when there is a long line, it moves quickly.

Hoffman's is the best! My wife worked here back in the day. Her relatives live down the street so when we visit we come by and get a couple sundaes. I've had about every flavor over the years and I can tell you, they are all good. Even the cotton candy, bubble gum, and lime sorbet are good! BTW, if you're just getting an ice cream cake or ice cream sandwiches you don't have to wait in the ice cream line and can checkout in the deli. Eat more ice cream :)
