El Patron Mexican Restaurant

The food overall was pretty good. I took my family here for Easter lunch and everyone enjoyed the chips and salsa as well as their entrees. It wasn't too busy, parking was easy enough and staff was friendly.

The best Mexican food in Gastonia and surrounding areas FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!! They give you sooooo much food and charge the same as any other restaurant! I feel like I really got my moneys worth!!! The food was amazing and also they sell Virgin drinks! We got a huge virgin strawberry drink and it WAS AMAZING and only $10, big enough for 4 people to share!!!! I am so happy with this restaurant and this will be my go to Mexican resituar! They also have great customer service, our server was so sweet and made sure we were happy with the food and had everything we need! I never leave reviews but this restaurant is AMAZING!

Food here is great. The plates are hot to keep your food warm, but not so hot you burn yourself. And the portion sizes for their regular meals are very large. I had to get a takeaway box for my meal, the Super Burrito. The lunch size portions are smaller, but have enough there to satisfy. And as always, when you are first seated, they will bring out a basket of chips and salsa.

There are lots of Mexican restaurants to choose from. My family seems to all have their favorites. This is definitely tex-mex style of Mexican. I, personally, love this place. My family likes it, but prefers others. Lots of choices, the food is super tasty and I always finish it. Service is quick and friendly. The seating area is a little tight, but they are in a small location and seem to make the most of things. Festive interior- maybe a little overdone. There are other nicer Mexican restaurants, when you are in the mood, but for what it is, it's my favorite.

Great food and atmosphere, sometimes a wait to be seated, Texas margaritas are awesome and very reasonable, had the steak fajitas, very good , service can be slow if they are busy , staff is very friendly, 5 stars for the best margarita for the price , thank you!

We had a really great experience here. We were greeted and sat immediately upon walking in at ~11:30am on a Sunday. All of the staff we saw seemed friendly and welcoming to everyone they came in contact with. Our server greeted us within 60 secs of us sitting down. We started with their cheese dip. It was hot and flavourful. My wife had a chicken taco salad. She seemed to enjoy it. I had the El patron special and it was huge and delicious. Both of our entrees were very generous in portion size. This is a great place and we will definitely be returning in the future.

El Patron is my favorite Mexican place in the Gastonia area. The staff are super nice and also great at serving. Ive never had a bad experience there and would definitely recommend it.

A lucky find for me. I literally was in the plaza parking lot handling a task and said to myself "I want chips." I look up and this place was here. I lucked out because I was there between 3 and 5pm where tacos are only ONE DOLLAR each. My late lunch of tea, three tacos and chips+salsa cost me $5 plus gratuity. Great deal. Good tacos.

This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants! They are always on top of keeping your drinks, chips, and salsa refilled! Their serving staff is always awesome!

Food is great..but this is not a hurried place. If you aren't in a rush, well worth the time. Waiter did give my friend beef instead of chicken after verifying the order twice. She said it was fine and ate it anyway.

Their salsa and warm chips are the best!! I’ve been several (okay, 8-10ish) times and the carnitas (homemade corn tortillas are you for real!!!) street tacos, fajitas and cheese dip are so good. I keep thinking that maybe I was imagining how delicious it was last time, but I feel like they keep getting better and better. The servers are always nice! The host stand is the only wild card - not much life left for the people in that position for some reason, but don’t let that put you off, just shake it off because the food is delicious.

The best Carne Asada tacos I have had since I left Texas.

Had a wonderful time at a work dinner. We will probably be visiting again for next year.

Our party of 11 was seated immediately after confirming the reservation, and orders were taken about 5 minutes later. The waiter was quite busy until later in the evening, but he was polite, prompt, and friendly.

The food was excellent, took about an hour, but again, it was busy when we arrived.

Stop by for dinner and it was delicious! I got carnitas plate They kept our drinks filled. Price was good!

I love this restaurant. The food is fabulous and fresh. There is a young male waiter there that is absolutely the best. He's always smiling and gets our order to us quickly. We complimented him on his service and his reply was, "You could go anywhere, but you choose us and we are grateful." ❤ Keeps me coming back.

The waitress we had must not of wanted to work that day. Never came for refills, sent our check by another waiter. But the food was fantastic.

We enjoyed our lunch date last week. The service was great...food was delicious. I had shrimp street tacos & a margarita 🍹 & it was great! Will go back soon!
