The food was excellent. The restaurant is clean and we felt welcomed.

The brisket was incredibly dry and chewy. Only disappointing

Great customer service, “hubby in kitchen and I’m helping at counter”. We got help understanding Carolina BBQ, and all the added included choices of sides. We are from Philly and enjoyed the experience, and the food. Highly recommend. BBQ chicken and NC BBQ. $0 each for a lot of food.

The atmosphere in the restaurant feels very welcoming. We were greeted my two very nice workers who took our order and suggested a few things. We got the order to go and the food came out quickly, but there are also tables insode now that you can eat at. We got ribs, brisket and sides. The lunch specials were priced fairly and the seasonal sides were delicious. I happened to like the brisket a little better than the ribs, but both were very good! The smoky flavor was not overwhelming and both meats were soft and tender. Definitely worth a try!!

Omg, everything was AMAZING! I was beyond presently surprised! Fried chicken so amazing, it was like my Grandma made it.

I also had the most amazing beef brisket and most delicious cabbage I've ever had in my life! And when you come to the south you expect a sweet tea with dinner. The sweet tea was amazing.

I'd gladly eat here for the rest of the week. And on top of everything, my server Joseph wad kind, attentive, family friendly, interacted with my children, and he gave great suggestions! I literally can't believe how perfect this dining experience was!!!

Some of the best in the state! Kicks Rodney Scott's butt, literally. On par with Skyline. Fried chicken, brisket, pulled pork...all were spectacular. Service was friendly, clean, great atmosphere. Felt like down south dining. Sauce was true NC vinegar for the pork. Loved every bite.

Had ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The brisket is some of the best I have had outside Texas. Good dense meat with good smoke and texture. The ribs were delicious as well, a good rub and good light sauce that lets the flavor of the meat shine thru. Pulled pork was excellent as well. Will be back. And they have great collard greens.

Very clean place with good service. Amazing, delicious food. I got the brisket plate with chicken pastry as a side and applesauce. It was very filling.

First time at High Cotton Barbeque. Has that small town, friendly dining atmosphere. Warm customer service and atmosphere make dining here a family affair.

Generous portions. Good value. Good food.

Not the best BBQ we've ever had, but we would definitely return.

Pulled pork had good smoky flavor to it and was quite moist. They have 2 different BBQ sauces for you to choose from (both Vinegar based of course) that were both good.

Fried chicken was quite good and wasn't dried out. Although, the smoked chicken was a bit dry. My wife enjoyed her brisket and son enjoyed his kids meal and loved the hush puppies.

The Best I’ve had! (And I’ve been to bbq in 10 different states!) Brisket was tender and juicy, fried chicken cooked perfectly, ribs full of meat. And the sides, fried okra was perfect, great hush puppies and French fries. But even more, the owners were at the counter and were so so so so friendly and made it a great experience!

My family likes to order take-out for our family gatherings when they’re here visiting me on the outer banks. We all agree it’s the best bbq place in town, and that’s coming from some southern mountain folks. Delicious food and the nicest people!

Service is take out only, but super nice and took us maybe 5 minutes to get in and out. The brisket and pork were good, a variety of sauce was given to us. The slaw was very creamy, okra was the right amount of crispy and the mac and cheese was good. If you are in the area I would give it a try, not sure I would drive for it though.

Simply the best fried chicken, pulled pork, brisket, collard greens and other southern sides our family has ever had. Wonderful people, do yourself a favor and get in here to eat.

An absolute MUST DINE restaurant for those who love REAL Eastern NC BBQ. The ribs are amazing, the brisket and smoked chicken sometimes are on the slightly dry side, but they're amazing in taste, the fried chicken is delicious.
Service is friendly and fast.
The downside?
This place is so popular in peak season, that even when we went at 5:30pm to "beat the rush", we were still waiting for 25 minutes for a table. But trust me. DO NOT LEAVE! IT'S WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!

Best BBQ on the Outer Banks! The pulled pork and chicken is our favorites! Always a good to-go option for a big family or party to cater for!

Came back again for a third year on our annual trip south. Especially love the local chicken & pasta special, not to mention the great BBQ.

High Cotton is awesome BBQ! The two meat rib combo (4 St. Louis style bones) with the brisket is a favorite of mine! Priced at $16.99, it's pretty fair. You get two sides (beans, fries, apple sauce, a seasoned vegetable) along with 2 hush puppies, which themselves are delicious with the honey butter packets. And quick service too. In about 5 minutes, they're bringing you your order and keep checking on you to see if you need anything. Most times the owner will stop by your table to ask how everything tastes. Not many owners do that. You'll want to keep coming back here, but call ahead for hours of operation, to make sure they're open. They do carry seasonal hours. I haven't ate a bad meal here yet!

Great as always. Missed eating in, but we took it to our hotel room. Brisket, pulled pork/chicken, and hush puppies were all good. Will be back!
