Bluff Mountain Fire Tower

Best free thrill “ride” in the Smokies. Even the drive is wonderful! No traffic, No crowd, no tickets, no trashy souvenirs…just stunning views in almost every direction. You can see downtown Knoxville with binos on a clear day.

The view from the top of the tower is amazing. I was grateful a local mentoined this place to me. Totally worth going. The road is steep and curvy so drive with caution if you're not familiar with the area.

White knuckle ride to be sure, but what a 360 panoramic view. The elevation and climb up the tower will take your breath away.

Beautiful and breathtaking! When you climb this fire tower (which is allowed and encouraged!), you can see for miles. You literally look down on helicopters- they seem like tiny ants. Amazing landmark!

The ride to get to this tower was reminiscent to a Disneyworld roller coaster with the amount of 180° turns with steep inclines and declines, however the view at the top of the tower was something I will never forget. Truly the best the Smoky Mountains has to offer without needing to go on a multiple hour hike. Would not recommend bringing small children here though as the stairs are very steep with very little protection on the walls of the platforms aside from the top observation deck.

Absolutely amazing view. A hidden gem that is worth the trip up. Make sure you have sure footing as very little railing exists on the tower.

This is an off the beaten path that tourists don’t go to. The drive up is amazing and the views are spectacular. If you are squeamish about heights, this is not for you. You should NOT bring your kids up here. The stairs are open and it would be easy for a kid to slip through. I’m not sure if it is legal to climb this but there are no signs, so proceed with caution. It is surrounded by cell towers, but the views are some of the best in the Smokies. You see Knoxville to Clingmans Dome. Fall time is beautiful.

AMAZING views! Roads are paved all the way, although a bit narrow at times. Even the views on the way up are fantastic. Should be fine with decent tires but I would avoid in bad weather. Tower climb is a bit creepy due to the height but gripping the rails I never felt unsafe at all and didnt think the boards were rotten at all.

I’ve never been in a fire tower before and this was such a fun experience. It’s a good drive to get to the top, but the 360° views are amazing.

Drive up there is true mountain driving. The view from the tower is so beautiful!

The drive is somewhat out of the way. But once you make it past all the curves and turns, it opens up too some of the most beautiful and private views of the smokey mountains and neighboring cities below it. Climbing the tower is not for those that are scared of heights. But even if you don't their is still spectacular views from every direction. Highly recommend the drive:)

Wow, hidden gem of an experience! Beautiful drive up. One of those places that somehow tops even the most popular places we went to on our visit. Insane & expansive views! This should be #1 stop on your list. Going up ladder was a little scary.
