The museum is small, but it has everything you need to know about the island, I love it. 🚢📽🏺The man at the reception was very friendly and always explained to everyone.

Beautiful little museum to learn a little bit about the island. For example how they made food back in the day. Was interesting also to find out how the mail came and went from the island.

This is a solid museum showcasing the island history. The entry is free as long as you check in. Please check in because funding does account for number of visitors! There are multiple rooms of exhibitions, the best being the historical room selection. The best museums get you engaged about a topic you weren't excited about to begin with, and this museum does that!

Such a great museum. My 7 year old son and I went when he had a day off from school. Usually when I go into a museum I get crazy looks bringing my kid with me. My son really enjoys history and me explaining things to him.
Anyway, they were very welcoming. They answered all of my questions and did not treat me any different than if I had gone alone. There is a lot of great information here, one could easily spend a couple hours exploring and reading all of the newspapers and artifacts. My son really enjoyed seeing what an old school house looked like and how the children learned back then. I really enjoyed the WWII room. So much great information in this building. I cannot wait to bring my history friends to this museum!

Excellent packed small museum with lots of really interesting information and 4 videos (15-30 mins each). I loved the section about the various Bainbridge campaigns (all very worthy protests). The old school building has 8 -10 different displays on a variety of subjects. We were waiting for a bus so had 2 hours to spare, and found our selves having to leave having only watched one of the films. The staff were also great.

Great displays on local history and a nice library and research room. The Yama display was interesting and I found the section on the Japanese internment really powerful

Beautiful displays; especially enjoyed Chris Maynard's feather up. It's upstairs around a corner in the hallway - easy to miss. Lovely location easily walkable from ferry station. Lots of food options just down the street. Go near opening time for some solitude. Friendly staff.

We were sad that it had already closed, but they have the timeline of Bainbridge Island on the outside of the museum. So it was still fun going there.

A small local museum. The history of the island is told, with particular emphasis on the experiences of various different people who moved to the island. The most detailed is the experience of the Japanese Americans who were taken away and interred during World War 2. The Island community were less hostile to those who returned after the war than people in many other parts of the USA.

Love this little museum. The attendants (a cute married couple who have lived on the island for years) gave me a quick tour as it was pretty quiet when I visited. Fun place for kids and it's nice to pop in for the quiet atmosphere.

Immensely moving and thought provoking. A wonderful tribute to the brave American citizens put in camps for being non white. Very similar to the build the wall movement today. The docent was knowledgeable and so friendly. This is a must see for history lovers visiting the Seattle area.

Don't let the small 'One Room School House' size of this place fool you. This museum has a great deal of extensive and rich history exhibits and information of the Bainbridge area on display, things like the life of the early native tribes, the various industries of the region, how the area populated and grew, etc. I don't believe that and average person could look at and read everything in detail in just one visit. My wife and I spent 2 to 3 hours here on our way through in 2015 and it was like having a single bite of a fabulous meal and stopping! Looking forward to a future visit if possible. It's worth the time and nominal fee for admission.
