Blackbird Bakery

I got a hot cafe latte from Blackbird Bakery on my way to Bainbridge Island. The quality of their coffee is great. The customer service was fast and the ambience was amazing as well. I wish they were open later, as I went there around 3.55 pm and was afraid I wouldn’t be able to place my order. Fortunately, I saw quite a few people entering the cafe after I did. Overall, a nice choice for good coffee.

I came on a Wednesday around 11:30 and the place was packed. Orders were taken quickly. I tried many things but the most delicious and what they are famous for is the toast and jam. GET THIS!! It was the most amazing homemade raspberry jam on their thick-sliced whole wheat oatmeal toast. I also tried the banana walnut bread, molasses ginger cookie, savory croissant, chocolate chip walnut cookie, maple scone, and apple scone. All were delicious but the toast and jam were the best. Street parking - later in the day harder to find parking. They do have a bathroom.

This is such a charming little cafe with amazing breakfast options! I especially enjoyed the spinach quiche which was decadent and creamy with a perfectly baked crust. We also tried the cinnamon roll which was soft and fluffy as well as the savory pastry which was flaky and filling. Loved this as a stop to grab some pastries to-go and save for tomorrow's breakfast.

Lots of street parking along the main roads, very easy to find a spot.

I couldn't decide what to try. I had a Helen's French roll, a pumpkin cream cheese scone, and 2 cinnamon rolls to go. My London Fog latte was so yummy. We'll have to visit again to try more.

I read about this bakery in a visitor's guide and I see why - it's cute and the service is friendly. The real kicker for me though was the vegan chocolate applesauce cake slice I had. It was unbelievably moist, not too sweet, and had a great flavor. It was also just a bonus to find a vegan option for food since I was expecting to only be able to get a beverage here. The cake slice pairs well with espresso so I recommend treating yourself to both. Their espresso was good too - bold, rich, not burnt tasting like some places I've tried.

Amazing bakery. We got the spinach quiche, savory croissant and almond croissant. They were brilliant. We also got helens rolls, pear anise scone and chilly cheddar scone for later.

We got our wedding cake (3 tier + a GF berry cake) from Blackbird and were very happy with everything. The cake was wonderful - lots of compliments from guests! - in both flavor and presentation. Heidi made sure to work with us to provide exactly what we were looking for.

We opted to pay for delivery and were very impressed with the service - they arrived on time and with all the skill and equipment required to make it a success.

I am not even done with my meal yet and I needed to write this review because the Seasonal Pot Pie (v) is the most perfect pot pie I have ever had the pleasure of eating. In Jan, the golden beetroot was the prefect ingredient to fuel my shopping trip!

Blackbird Bakery made our wedding cake and it was delicious and beautifully decorated. Heidi really helped steer us towards the right design and it turned out just right what we were looking for.

We have loved Blackbird Bakery since our first visit in 2005. It is always crowded and loud, and the customer service tends to suffer because of that. But, I learned I could place an order online and was able to pick up a full two potato quiche, four loaves of honey oat bread, and an extra large bag of their amazing granola for our guests enjoyment at our home. It worked out perfectly! Now that I know I can place orders, I will probably never suffer the toddler crowd again (no offense toddlers, you're adorable). My family devoured the quiche and toast and granola. Now I'm debating if I mail some to them when I make jam in the summer, but am afraid it will be one more reason for them to skip visiting me. Decisions, decisions. Thank you Blackbird for making your delicious food easy to access. :)

Very well priced with a wonderfully not-too-sweet lemon tart, the black bird merch is also very cute! A cozy place to stop by before catching the ferry.

We were here for the blueberry/hibiscus tea, torte cake. Great place to stop by for tea/coffee time.

Ummmmm absolutely best mocha I’ve had in the PNW. Also tried the Vegan Chocolate applesauce slice and the “lady Yum”. Reasonable prices and such nice people! 10/10 recommend adding this to a stop on your bainbridge trip

Wonderful local bakery. The prices have gone up since I first started going here, but it HAS been fifteen years! The toast and jam, the orange rolls, the vanilla sugar downtowners, and the vegan chocolate applesauce cake are my favorites! The coffee is pretty good too, probably the best on the island.

NOT cash-only, they take card too. Cinnamon roll, lemon blueberry scone, oatmeal apricot scone, and savory croissant were all outstanding. This was a perfect stop after getting off the ferry.

Lived on Bainbridge Island since 1998 and this place remains a consistent joy to visit. Homemade sweet and savory goodies. Amazing baked goods, breads, cakes, and there toast is the best. Quiches and tarts too, and fresh soups daily.
And the coffe... my go to spot for a cappacino or latte for sure. Tjey have assorted teas too. There is a booth and a few tables and counter space to chill. Not too loud, just the chatter of patrons and a faint radio in the back.
Lines can be long on weekend mornings, as the Seattle ferry crowds fill Winslow Way in the nice weather. But the line moves pretty well. The staff is always pleasant and courteous. A must stop if you are on the island 😋☕

Excellent gluten free options. We had lemon poppyseed muffins, balyus and a cheese roll. It was very good. The line was long but moved fast. Friendly staff. If you’re in the area give it a try.

We lived on Bainbridge for two years and Blackbird was one of our staples. We love their decorated cookies and how they change almost every week, and really enjoyed all the drinks we got there. I’m a tea drinker and love Chai lattes and London Fogs and my husband loved getting their coffee. The toast is also great, and not something I would have ordered if we had not received a tip from another local customer.

The Golden Turmeric Chai tea was so so good! The spinach Quiche was yummy! The ambiance was fun! All in all a great experience!

Been there several times, love the baked goods, scones and croissants! Coffee is great too.
