Chimborazo

Came here for the first time and super happy that I did! My partner and I came on a Saturday evening around 7:00p. Luckily we were able to be seated within 5 minutes which was amazing. The restaurant is a decent size and had a home feel to it which made it feel super authentic. The food came out relatively quickly and everything was absolutely delicious. I would definitely return! A bonus is everything is relatively inexpensive!

True definition of comfort food that satisfies all types of cravings! I have been to this place many times and almost everytime has been a good experience, especially because it opens until a bit later on weekends, which has allowed me to find food when I wasn't able to get so elsewhere.

Although I have not had the churrasco yet, I have had the flank steak as a side and can guarantee its tastiness. Seco de Carne has very tender stewed beef which makes it a very tasty dish. The vegetarian sandwiches (Sánduche Vegetariano) are also very tasty because of the avocado and mayonnaise combination. I would also recommend the empanadas even if I have only tried the cheese kind, and I am sure the beef one tastes even better.

However, the Saltado has always seemed to be a hit or miss depending on who gets it. I have had times when my friends didn't enjoy it at all, and I would feel the same because it was too sour, causing me to overcompensate it with rice, which has, on the contrary, made the Vegetariano Saltado a much better option for my taste. The shrimp ceviche is also slightly beyond my taste buds, as I do not enjoy the corn kernels inside, but I understand that it's most likely my own taste because I have seen the same combination in Peruvian ceviche before.

Regardless of the few dishes that I don't enjoy as much, I think this place brings VALUE to the Minneapolis residents and that alone makes it a spot that people can comfortably rely on, and that's why it deserves a 5 star all the way!

Friendly staff, wonderful food. We had the special and another dish that had coconut sauce and shrimp, it was like a curry without the spice. Very tasty. I would recommend. Also had the chocolate peanut butter cake, a bit too much peanut butter for me, but not bad.

I’ve had Chimborazo recommended to me multiple times and I regret waiting so long to try it out! The flavors were so unique and perfectly done. Between three people, we shared 3 entrees— the chicken saltado, llapingachos con chorizo, and a shrimp/scallop dish that was a daily special. All of them were amazing and worked perfectly together. I’ve never tasted a dish seasoned as perfectly as the saltado. It was my first time trying limeade and I’m already ready to go back for it!

Everyone was so nice. The interior is cozy and was packed even on a Wednesday— you can tell it’s a well loved local place. The prices are reasonable for portion size and how high quality the dishes were. Absolutely try Chimborazo!

My hubby and I had breakfast at Chimborazo and Wow! It was delicious!!! 10/10 recommend. The best beef empanadas in the twin cities (not dry at all!), and the breakfast hash comes with full ribs. Excellent food and service.

Cute spot, very popular, so hard to get a table on Friday nights. The food was tasty and arrived quickly!
Servers were attentive and helpful, though busy. Plenty of vegetarian options.

Chimborazo was delicious! Love that they had vegan options. Unfortunately they don't take reservations so we did have to wait about 10-15 minutes on a busy Saturday night and they don't really have anywhere to wait (it was cold outside) but it went pretty quickly! Service was good other than the bill had the option to pay by QR code and after we did that, it took some time to show up on their system which was a little confusing. Will definitely be back!

Food is fantastic as always. Took one star off for atmosphere because wow is it loud on a Friday night. Anything to lower the room noise would be nice.

Never had Ecuadorian food before, and it did not disappoint! We had the saltado with steak, chicken, and shrimp and it was delicious! The chicken was unbelievably tender and everything was perfectly seasoned. Next time I’ll probably skip the shrimp since they were overcooked, but the flavor easily made up for it.

First time being here. Small seating area, but great food, great price and the portions are phenomenal. Wait staff are really cool people. Son and I went there Saturday 3/2/24 around 2:00 and it was packed, but we didn't have to wait too long for the food. Well worth the trip.

Loved it!! Went there on a whim with a friend and the food was delicious! I got the churrasco and a limeade. The steak was delicious and well cooked and the sides were tasty. Will be coming back!

Atmosphere is fun and lively. Busy, but people are going in and out pretty quickly.

Service was great, we got seated quickly and the server was knowledgeable and helpful. Food came out quickly!

Food was outstanding - we had several appetizers the fries were great. The main courses were all good, it was hard to choose what to order. We didn’t do deserts because we were all stuffed.

Value was great - servings were surprisingly large, no one left hungry.

I will definitely be back!

Had dinner here with my wife tonight after finding it on Google. So happy we gave it a shot. The food and drinks were good. The mango and coconut smoothies were refreshing. We ordered the Ceviche de Camarones, Churrasco, Saltado de Camron y Tres leches for dessert. ALL delicious. Will come again!

Chimborazo is probably some of the best food in the twin cities! Everything is so tasty and I’ve had nothing but great experiences with the staff!
Llapingachos con chorizo is my favorite, but make sure to ask for extra sauce because it’s so good

Lovely place serving simple tasty home dishes. You definitely feel like eating together in someone's house. Highly recommended.

Excellent food, very friendly service but super super noisy atmosphere. We sat in the side room and we literally had to scream to hear each other across the table.
The food though was great. We had empanadas (beef and cheese) and the Llapingachos. All were very flavorful.
Main course we had the daily special Arroz con Menestra and the Chaulafan. Super yummy.
Would definitely recommend this place but maybe at a less busy time when you can actually hear yourself thinking.

First time having Ecuadorian food, we got the Hornado Con Papas, and Grilled chicken sandwich. We loved it, great food, good service, food came out quick after we placed the order. Definitely will come back again.

Everything was amazing. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Down side was overeating but well worth it! Definitely willing to go a few extra miles for this. I had the roast pork followed by the trees tres leches. From texture to temperature to flavor I could find no fault. Give this place a try! Sad I won't be around long enough to sample everything on the menu.

Chimborazo is one of my favorite restaurants! The food is consistently delicious. I recently had brunch here (the Saltado breakfast and mimosas) for the first time and was impressed as usual. I also really enjoyed their patio, it is a great use of space!

I definitely recommend this fantastic restaurant! Our server was so nice and friendly, and gave great recommendations on the steak churrasco and llapingachos con chorizo. SO good and plenty of leftovers, as they were very filling entrees! I'm guessing you can't go wrong with any menu item though, as the restaurant was quite busy for lunch and everyone seemed happy with their meals! I will be back!
