Vadapav, kothambir vadi and veg kohlapuri were really good and flavorful. Dabeli was disappointing. Jhuna bhaakar was fine, a bit more bland than i had expected. Sabudana khichdi was nice.

Went here for a lunch with friends and were left satisfied with some great food but the desserts need some work !

The restaurant is a specialty Maharashtrian one but the menu has a mix of North Indian dishes too.

But I’ll recommend to try their Maharashtrian menu which made me remember my Pune day !

We ordered the Kothimbir Wadi , Aloo papdi chat and Bombil Fry for appetizers and all were very good, surprised by how good the chaat was and how fresh the Bombil fry tasted !

For drinks it was obviously, Kokum and Sol Kadhi , which were very good !

For entrees , we ordered the Chicken Thali , Pomfret Thali & Prawn Thali .

All the thali’s come with dessert(gulabjamun) & sol kadhi .

Prawn thali - The fried prawns were really good
Pomfret thali - The pomfret was done really nice

Both these thalis have a similar goan style curry (coconut based) which was finger licking good !

The chicken thali had a side of biryani , dry chicken masala & chicken curry which were good but the seafood ones were the real winner !

For dessert we ordered kharvas & kulfi had both were not up to the mark ! That’s the only blemish in an otherwise perfect lunch !

We were 6 & had to spend around 15-20 mins waiting which was not bad at all !

Service was fast even though it was a full house .

Definitely Recommend for some authentic Maharashtrian food !

Amazing, authentic Maharashtrian restaurant. In a scene where Indian restaurants in NJ are dominated by North Indian cuisine, it's refreshing to finally get a place that delivers on dishes from Maharashtra. The food is tastier, less heavy, less creamy, and so good. Beware, it's also spicier than your average Americanized Indian reataurant. I absolutely loved it as I have a crazy high tolerance for spice. The place can get quite busy so plan ahead. It's a sign of the real deal. Ample free parking since it's a strip mall.

Having moved from Mumbai 13 years ago, I can now safely say that my search for authentic Mumbai Misal and Vada Pav is now finally over. Mejwaani definitely serves the most authentic and tasty maharashtrian food. To top the food their service is top notch too. Both Sam and Felix were top notch and went above and beyond to make this a memorable experience. We will be back here soon and soon be regulars.

Best maharashtrian restaurant in the town and its a must visit place

Parking - free and available

Ambiance - spacious , with amazing bombay style interior decor

Staff - very helpful and courteous

Food
Apetizer- MUST TRY - sabudana vada , vada pav , pani puri , dahi Batata puri , ragda petis , misal pav 5/5. Personally, i loved sabudana vada and misal pav - spicy and flavorful.

Drink- sol kadi and chaas are a must try . Other drinks are okayish

Main course - they have veg and non veg combinations, with non veg options more authentic for maharashtrian cuisine .
Paneer curries 4/5
Shrimp curry , mutton sukhe ,pomphret fish fry 5/5.

Indochinese - they do have some options , i would rate it as 4/5 . It's delicious but nothing out of the bix.

Dessert - try their authentic kharvas , shrikhaand and plenty more option are available.

Overall, it's a soul food !!!

We ordered Bombil, Paplet, Surmai , Kombdi Vade, Crabs, Mutton suka and Mutton vade!! For desert we had kharvas!! Each dish and each bite was pure taste from heaven. Costal food we were missing. We ate till we fell. I wish they bring this gem in Mississauga, Canada. 😍😍😍

The BEST! If I could give this place more stars I would. Best restaurant in New Jersey ! We visited this place for lunch on a Friday! Mejwaani serves authentic Maharashtrian cuisine with many vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The restaurant was amply packed with Indian and non-Indian customers. We were seated promptly. Tables were clean. Staff was very attentive. And the food.....ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The menu is extensive. Everyone will find items that are great and filling to eat, even if you have dietary restrictions. We had a small group and tried a variety of items vada pav (straight from mumbai), misal pav, thalipeeth, puranpoli (yum!), veg hakka noodles, tandoori chicken, paneer tikka, chicken malai tikka - So juicy and cooked to perfection. All dishes very spiced so flavorfully, and so mouthwatering. Many other restaurants overpower the dishes with spice and salt and you cannot taste the flavors. Not this restaurant. The Mejwaani dishes we tasted had perfect combination of spices. Good portions too. I took some of the pictures after we had split up the food, but actual portions are larger. We even had the chance to try some unique items such as fresh kokum sharbat. For desserts we tried the kulfi, falooda and guava ice cream. I wish I had more room in my stomach to try more items. I will definitely eat and cater from this restaurant regularly. My number 1 choice for Indian food.

Food is really good and so is the service. They have a bigger area so usually the wait isn’t too long even on weekends.
Our favorite food items are wada pav, misal pav, kombdi wade and the thalis.
The Chinese feels home style but is also good, less oil which is nice.

Overall, pretty good place for malvani food

Overall pretty good experience and the food.
We had veg, chicken and pompret thali. All the food items were good except the chicken biryani (part of chicken thali). Sabudana wada was also tasty and crispy.
The service was good.
Good ambience.
If you're planning to visit on the weekend, I would suggest arriving before 1 pm to avoid the long wait.

Overall, good Maharashtrian food. We will probably go again to try a la carte dishes.

I am a Maharashtrian and can confirm that this food was very close to authentic taste. Pomfret fry, mutton sauji, bhajani vade, chicken tangadi, chilli chicken were some of the best items they had. We pre ordered modak and kharvas. It was perfect. Must go for a good taste of Maharashtra.

Very close to the traditional Marathi food. Bombil fry and stuffed promfret were pretty good. Promfret fry was ok. Shrimp biryani was better than most places I have had. Sol curry was delicious. We did not really like the mutton keema too much.
Would recommend visiting if you love Marathi food or seafood.

After looking for an Indian place, we settled for this place. The interior looked superb and their service set the bar high. They helped us pick their favorites and served us quickly. Their butter chicken was excellent! I would definitely recommend their combo meals which allow you to taste a lot of their food. This restaurant was a great choice and I'm for sure coming back!

Authentic Food, Genuine customer service, one of the best restaurant experience.
When owner is actively involved in making sure that customers have best dining experience gives you the details of how good this food will be.

I went to this place with two of my Maharashtran friends and they confirmed the authenticity of the food. My favorite part of the meal was the fried Bombli, which was absolutely delicious if you are ready to bear the fishy smell. Portion of the goat platter is not much for the price, but the curry was really good. Do not forget to try their desserts!

An authentic Maharashtrian restaurant. We went when the restaurant had just opened and the service was really good. We were seated quick. The staff is really courteous .Service is also fast.

We tried the ginger and the masala tea which were both really good.

The pav bhajji and the puri masala were really light and tasted really good.. not spicy at all.
Aloo vade were however a little pricy and they had given a mirchi powder as well for more spice.

We had the surmai thali and the kingfish was good very nicely, the authentic way. It included the fish, rice, bhakri, fish curry, sol curry and gulab jamun. Each item were really good taste wise. The dal was also nice, not too spicy but light and tasteful.

Anyone looking for authentic marathi food should give it a try!
Lastly to top it they also had thanda pan which was the best part!
