Tasty Chinese Cuisine, packaged quite upscale. Lots of parking at location. Restaurant is dimly lit making it perfect for a date-night spot or an intimate lunch. Service was excellent and prompt. Loved everything but the scallion pancakes are definitely the winning appetizer. Will visit again.

The food is always so tasty and fresh and the service is always fast and friendly. We went for my friend’s birthday and they did not disappoint! The LycheeTinis are an absolute must!!!

Amazing Sichuan food in New Jersey! Standout menu items that I always make a point of ordering:

"Crazy Beef Sichuan Style" - my favorite item on the menu. Authentic stuff; you can feel a bit of the characteristic "numbness" from the Sichuan peppercorn. Goes excellent with rice, I might add. P.S. gets even better the next day after the meat's soaked up that great flavor from the sauce.

Peking Duck - unconventional method of serving where the waiter rolls these up for your table (sans sauce; that's DIY). Definitely a pro in my book since I'd like to avoid having duck grease all over my hands. Along those lines, the duck skin nice and crisp without excessive amounts of fat (which interfere with the crispiness, IMO).

Other great things to try out are the xiao long bao (be sure to ask about availability before coming if your heart's set on it), the fried shiitake mushroom appetizer, and the Chilean sea bass special.

My fav go to Chinese restaurant in the area. Have ordered take out many times and they never disappoint. Dine in experience was great too. Friendly staff, fast service and yummy food. My favorite dishes are Ma-la-Han, chicken fried rice and crazy fish(super spicy 🌶)

Authentic spicy deliciousness that's keep you coming back. Whether for takeout or sit down you cannot beat cathay. No other chinese food in the area comes close tbh.

I am so grateful for the family who owns this restaurant. Their cuisine is responsible for so many wonderful memories with my family. I am deeply disappointed with the landlord for pricing them out. Union County's culinary scene is worse off without this wonderful restaurant.

Amazing food! Try Peking duck, eggplant puffs, tangerine shrimp, sesame chicken. And plum wine. Love it here!

The food here is amazing! I ordered the General Tsos chicken and I LOVE how they allow you to choose white or dark meat. Food was very well prepared and the staff is LOVELY!

Our take out last night was outstanding - the best in the area by far.

I TOTALLY LOVED THE FOOD!!!!!!!!!! The egg rolls, chicken fried rice & chicken & broccoli were some of my favorites on the menu! As a matter of fact, I think this is my favorite place to eat in NJ! The food tastes very very good & they do not use MSG like most Chinese restaurants do. They use real ingredients & make them fresh every day... I only ate there once but I have to say the people who work there really go above & beyond traditional Chinese cooking... The chicken & broccoli literally made my mouth water. Best chicken & broccoli I had in years! The only restaurant that came even half close was the one I went to in Key West during my last Florida trip last February. This restaurant is 10x better!!

Literally, it blew me away to see just how fast they made the food & brought it to our table! It wasn't even 15 minute wait!! They got cooking right away!!

The chicken fried rice & the egg rolls we're far beyond amazing!! I added some soy sauce to the rice to enhance the flavor but even without the soy sauce it was still very very very nice !

This restaurant exponentially exceeded my expectations of a typical Chinese restaurant & this is a must visit for anyone vacationing anywhere in New Jersey right now!!!!

Step Above Chinese Take-Out: A Must Try

We ordered take-out and it was overall a different experience from your run of the mill Chinese take-out (TO). The food overall was not heavily salted or oily and tasted fresh or home made. The sweet and sour chicken was made of real pieces of white meat chicken battered and tossed in sauce as opposed to the TO where you get this fluffy fake like chicken product with a pint of sauce on the side. They didn't give us a thousand packets of soy sauce other trash to throw away. Singapore Mei Fun was great with a little kick. My only disappointment was that the General Tso's was not spicy enough for my liking. The restaurant itself looked nice inside and will definitely check this place out for lunch or dinner one night.

Delicious food and the people there are so nice. We like their Pan fried noodles with beef, pork pan fried dumplings, scallion pancakes, and three pepper chicken.

Food was great. Interior looks like it hasn't been updated since it opened, but it's pretty clean.

We ordered the Ginger Chicken & Chicken Fried Rice- it was the best Chinese food we had in town! Highly recommend it! The owner, Philip was very kind and helpful as it was our first time ordering from the restaurant. Definitely a place to visit! We’ll be back!

Did takeout using DoorDash. It was easy, efficient, and well priced. Got the steamed buns, pork dumplings, orange chicken, and scallion beef. It was all delicious! Definitely recommend.

It's been so long since I went to a traditional Chinese restaurant! It was delicious! The duck was unbelievable crispy on top moist in the middle. Enjoy a real Mai Tai! Happy Chinese New Year!

Cathay 22 is by far the best Chinese food in Union County! Love their dumplings in spicy sauce and you can't go wrong with anything on their menu!

I frequent this establishment, about once a week, and have yet to be anything but fully satisfied.

It is the spice and uniqueness of their menu that keeps me coming. The owner is very friendly, and now recognizes my orders since they almost always contain tripe or tendon ma-la.

If you are looking for flavorful, spicy food then Cathay 22 should be your go-to spot for Sichuan.

Our family has enjoyed being treated like family here for nearly 40 years!! The people and food here are one of a kind!! You won't be disappointed!!
