Lo Porto

I had a great meal at Lo Porto’s yesterday. This is one of the best hidden gems of downtown Troy for those who have not been, you need to give it a try. It has a very authentic Italian feel and the service is impeccable. I would recommend making reservations if you are going during busier days than normal.

The veal, spaghetti carbonara, and the Tortellini Alla Panna, are some of my favorite things to get. The sauce is nice and thick. Do not miss the opportunity to get a cannoli for dessert. Even if you have to take it to go, it is definitely worth the extra room in your stomach! Can’t wait to go back, thanks!

Amazing food, served piping hot. Chicken Champagne was thin sliced and dressed in a beautiful creme sauce. Sea food fra diavlo was equally delicious with so much sea food we took half home. They had a limited menu for new year's and the prices varied from the regular menu.
I think our waiter was John and he was busy taking good care of the dinner rush.

This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Troy and all around for Italian food. I have been eating here for years and I have never been disappointed. Carm makes some of the best Italian dishes in the area and I can't imagine eating Italian food anywhere else. While working at Samaritan hospital during COVID, this establishment delivered countless trays of food to all of the different med surge floors throughout the hospital at no cost to hospital personnel. So if you're looking for a delicious meal at a wonderful price, this is the spot!

This is more than just one of the best Italian restaurants in Troy. It is one of the best Italian restaurants ever. The food is simply outstanding, and always piping hot. It is a hometown restaurant, with tons of history, and they always make you feel like family.

Gotta tell ya, Lo Porto's is an awesome place!! When you put together a terrific staff with the amazing talents of Carm making EVERY meal special, you're a guaranteed SUCCESS!!! It's great to find a talented Chef with a passion for his food as well as a nice way with customers!! If you haven't been there, you've been cheating yourself of a Homemade meal!! Really non descript from the outside, but authentic once you come inside. Portions are ENORMOUS. Incredibly reasonably priced, especially considering the size and flavor. Chicken Parm was butter soft and amazing. Shrimp scampi with their house special sauce, and a filet (special). Can't wait to come back on our next trip from NJ to VT.

My sister recommended this finally made it when my daughter came to visit from Boston. Our waitress Sharyn Was amazing as she recommended our appetizer and our drinks, the food was amazing the atmosphere cute and quaint will definitely be back for another visit

One of the best Italian dishes I’ve had. They make their own mozzarella - so please order their fried mozzarella appetizer! The bread and butter is also delicious. The prices are too good and the portions are huge! I can’t wait to come back. Olive Garden who???? ;)

We came in here to say hi to Emily, who works here, and maybe get a cocktail from the bar.... Somehow we ended up getting a dinner and drinks and WOW this place is awesome! Paul made me one of the best Martini's I've ever had and the dinner was generously portioned and delicious. We got the Veal with the mushrooms and it came with a full plate of spaghetti too!

This is my favorite place to eat in Troy. I consider it to be the best lunch option in Troy. You and guest can go here and have the most satisfying lunch for $25 or you can sit and really get in to things with appetizers and wine. The service is always great and the food is even better. One of my favorite things is that the food is HOT. I hate when the food is warm. Dinner can be busy so be sure to make a reservation. I still suggest lunch as it is less crowded and the portions are huge. Here is a picture of my favorite, Calamri Fra Diavlo.

We love it here! Although the menu is smaller due to Covid-19, all dishes taste amazing as always. We introduced a new family member at the restaurant and he thought it was special. On the photo you'll see: a mixed seafood dish with sisillican style sauce which is so delicious, veal sorrento and another dish.

In a not great area, this restaurant is WORTH THE TRIP. Portions are large, the staff is friendly, and it feels like my grandmother is in the kitchen! Amazing - "home away from home".

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE OUTSIDE! After a week of traveling and micro-brewery food, my wife wanted a good italian lasagna. She was not disappointed! It was handmade to order. She told me it was the best she ever had. I had "Shrimp Michael" and it was fabulous! The staff were friendly and helpful! BIG recommendation!

Was recently in Troy for business and we decided to eat here. This is a little hole in the wall with incredible Italian food. They make their own bread on site (among much more), portions are good sized (Italian sized!), and the service is outstanding. They even customized some of the dishes on the menu to suit our liking (wanted a different style sauce with more spice, no problem for them!). We had the pleasure of meeting their chef, who grew up learning to cook from his family, and holy heck does it show in what he creates. I've had Italian in NYC, and many other places, and this beats it by far. Easily one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to! Next time I'm in Troy, I'll be sure to come back.

I was in town visiting and we tried this restaurant and had an amazing meal. From the fresh bread to the appetizers and main dish, everything was delicious. The portions are very, very generous!
The waiter was helpful about answering some questions regarding a food allergy I have and I really appreciated this.
I liked the atmosphere too. It feels like a true old school Italian restaurant where it's friendly, comfortable and a nice place to enjoy a meal with friends.

Food is ALWAYS consistent and excellent. Staff always friendly and portions are generous. Chris has been our server on several occasions and does a excellent job. Great place and great value!

La Porto’s catered our wedding on 6/25/22 and did an absolute fantastic job ! Peggy was fantastic in taking all my requests and changes in regards to the dinner choices and guest list up until the last second. The day of the wedding Peggy and the La Porto’s staff were very attentive to me and all my guests and made sure we never went without food or drinks. They even made a non alcoholic strawberry lemonade for us . They provided table linens all the glassware and flatware and set up and clean up. The food was hot delicious and made fresh on site. Everyone complemented us about the quality of the food. We were able to offer 3 entrees and 4 appetizers, fruit cheese and meat platter, and salad before the entree were all included in our package. Highly recommend La Portos for both catering or a nice dining experience.
