If you want delicious and filling comfort food for a great price then you have to come to this place! I never knew it existed until my friend searched for a dinner place close to where our dance class was that night. It is located in a small strip mall and would be so easy to miss if you drove by. But I gotta tell you, this place is a total hidden gem!

First of all, the food! My gosh the food! I rarely get a chance to eat South American food and this was a huge treat. I ordered a couple of pupusas, an enchilada, and a Peruvian steak with eggs on top. My friend got a shrimp dish with grilled veggies. The pupusas were absolutely on point with the size, cheesiness, and flavor. The enchilada was definitely not the enchiladas I was accustomed to growing up in a Mexican family, but this South American version was packed with flavor. It seemed more like a tostada but it was tasty as heck. As for the steak, it was perfectly cooked and very juicy. The overeasy eggs on top added to the flavor explosion. All the sides like the french fries and rice were also done very well. The fries had a very good flavor to them probably from the steak juices. My friend really enjoyed her shrimp dish and I enjoyed the little bite I had. So if I could give more stars for the food I absolutely would.

For service, it was divine! The woman serving us was so sweet and kind. I got to speak some spanish with her and so that is always fun to do when I get the chance. Another woman, who I believe was the owner, was there as well and would come check on us and even brought a couple of our dishes out. I felt like I was at home being taken care of by my own mom. I wish I got her name because she was so warm and welcoming. We told her we loved her colorful decorations and lights in the restaurant.

They have plenty of tables and I do hope they get busy throughout the day. It was not very busy when we went but likely because we went just before they closed for the day. I will definitely come back for their breakfasts which looked pretty amazing on the menu. They also have an inhouse baker who makes lots of baked good treats. I was so full that I couldn't bring myself to buy more food but I will come back and try every one of them.

So please, go support this small business that does food and service perfectly.

Looking for something a little different for breakfast? Check out Cafe Sazon on Columbia Pike. This South American cafe offers breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Wifey and I visited for a delicious Sunday breakfast. Both of our coffees (Cappuccino and latte) were great. She said her latte was velvety and my cappuccino had the perfect amount of foam.

For entrees, she had the Huevos con Chorizo which came with puffy but dense tortillas. I had the El Mananero skillet which was delicious and plentiful. Both dishes had plantains which were also excellent. We’ll definitely be back.

My 2nd time here in a week. It is a nice and cozy place. The server is very friendly , always making sure if me and my hubby were satisfied. The food was amazing 🤩. I enjoyed every taste. I had la planchita for 2 ppl. Ordered a size of rice and pico. You taste the freshness and very well seasoned. I can’t wait to go back . Oh and thank you to the manager for also checking in .

High quality comfort food that just hits every time. Filling, rich, and has that special homemade feeling of care. Cool, calm, and pleasant environment, at least for lunch. Menu selection is expansive and service is very helpful. Only criticism is that they were a bit too expensive than your common Mexican restaurant (yes I realize this isn’t Mexican, just a simple comparison). Would still love to come back!

Stopped by here with my sister and ordered a pork and cheese popusa and the Guatemalan style steak, which came with Pico, avocado, rice, beans, 2 tortillas, and a cheese whose name eludes me but was delicious. Everything was fantastic. The portions were generous, the tortillas were made in house and delicious, and the steak was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. All together, it was about $20 which was a bargain for the quantity and quality. Our waitress was super sweet and the atmosphere is great. I will be coming back. I've been to tons of south American places and I can say this is one of my favorites. I will definitely be coming back

Friendly environment and staff. The food is great. Drink selection is not hugh buy it is good. This is not an upscale and super fancy restaurant but a good place to get food. Or a quick bite to eat and a great alternative to fast food. The breakfast meals are the greatest choices. The cuisine is Mexican/Salvadoran/Colombian. The price is okay. This is a great place to get a meal if your passing by or visiting town.

I’ve eaten and ordered at Cafe Sazon no less than 10 times and I have yet to be disappointed. You can feel the love in their meals and service which makes this place even more special. The salteñas are a must try! If you are expecting frills then this is not the place for you. However, if you are wanting a quaint family atmosphere with delicious home cook style meals then I highly recommend Cafe Sazon!

Stumbled across this place looking for a last minute breakfast/brunch place. Pleasantly surprised. Server was very nice and food came out hot and pretty quick. Good prices. My only complaint is parking is a hassle here. Food was great would definitely come back!

Savory empanadas, large coffees and excellent service. We stopped by to get some coffee and snacks to hold us over and were pleasantly surprised by everything we ordered. Looking forward to coming back! I recommend ordering the Mocochinchi drink - a delicious peach cinnamon drink.

Is it kitschy inside, and a little relaxed? Of course. But that's part of it's wonderful charm and authenticity. The food is delicious (Sazon skillet!!) and reasonably priced. the staff are kind and helpful. Go somewhere else if you can't appreciate Cafe Sazon for what it is - a diamond in the rough that is far too hard to find in DC!

The food was amazing. I am from Colombia and the seasoning felt just like back home. They have an awesome background music (Flute de Pan) and the bakery place looks delicious 😋. I ate soup and then lentils. The empanadas are a must-have. The coffee is far above average. Delicioso. 😎 👍

This place is soooooo good! I ordered the sampler and a chicken pupusa. You can hear the chefs making the tortillas and pupusas in the back, so you know it’s authentic (and good)! Fried plantains and fried yucca ✨chef’s kiss✨
I went on a Friday night and there were only 3-4 people in the dining area. This place is too good to not be busy every night!!

This is our go-to place for Latin American food. We never dine-in, always pick-up, but they are extremely nice, they’re bilingual, and the quality of the food for the price is great. We always get carne asada, sometimes pupusas, and the good is delicious. Not the kind of food that’s super heavy on grease or salt, just deliciously seasoned every time. They also decorate the place for special holidays, and we always love to see what they did to the place.

My gf and I went in for lunch looking for Colombian food. We started with the empanadas Colombiana we’re amazing. I could eat those every day. We both ordered a churrasco plate (Ecuadorito or something like that) which came with steak, 2 eggs, rice, fries, avocado and salad. Everything was cooked perfectly and you get a lot for the price. We both left very happy. We also split a mango w/ milk smoothie which was very good and came in handy when I over did it with their green salsa which caught us both off guard with how spicy it was. We will definitely go back.
