Delightful decor for a hustle of a morning! This place is the breakfast spot in town. The line is worth it. Plan to wait 30 minutes. Come with a group of 8 or just by yourself!

I tried their famous scone, served with a lemon sauce. Perfectly crumbly, and totally messy. I also got their homemade granola with soy milk and let it sit to soak up the soy and get soft. Delicious. Matt got a breakfast omelet with cheddar, bacon and avocado.

Real maple syrup is on the tables along with salsas. Those details matter! Free coffee refills and the servers are on it, never had a cold cup.

Credit cards accepted here. The decor feels like you stepped through a time machine. They even have a little display full of antique items when you walk in - juke box, old cameras and cooking ware.

Great menu. Waffles are on point. Salmon scramble had very good portions of salmon. Burgers and fries were old fashioned and delicious. REAL maple syrup! Thick sourdough toast! Very sunny, big windows! Outside seating available. Nostalgic decor with classic photos and advertisements. Fun place.

No wonder this place has such a high rating.
Funky, eclectic decoration, great food (❤ the buckwheat pancakes and the mocha).
Awesome service, they pay attention to the small details and are all super friendly.
Bummer it’s not close by ...

Fantastic chicken and waffles. Their italian sausage scramble was also good. Love their retro vintage decor.

Great location, great staff, great food! We ordered the chicken and waffles and cinnamon French toast. Both highly recommended!

Great food and service. They close at 2 and out of muffins and scones usually by 1pm.

Not pictured: their salmon Benedict because I ate it too fast!!!
Amazing home fries and quality food!! And their diner coffee was surprisingly great!

Royal Cafe has consistently good food, service and a clean yet retro decor. The service is always spot on, it is like the can see the level in my coffee cup. Good homemade sausage, no nitrates. Love their homemade salsa. Small parking lot, which can be challenging but personally the food and service are worth it. I try to avoid this place on the weekends due to the crowds, though they move fairly fast.

Long wait for Sunday brunch, but totally worth it. The scones with lemon curd are popular and come out fast. I had Eggs Benedict and it was cooked perfectly, as were the associated fried potatoes--didn't even put ketchup on them. Our waitress was funny, prompt, and anticipated our needs. And the atmosphere is really cool, with old toasters and radios all over the walls. Loved it.

I've mostly been to the Royal Cafe for brunch. The service is relatively quick and very friendly. Every food item I've had has been great. Anything from different types of Eggs Benedict, Banana-Coconut pancakes, omelettes, scones, etc—all's been great, no complaints. My particular favorites are the Eggs Benedict. The coffee is good—balanced flavor, not too strong. The noise level is okay; not quiet, but I've always been able to have conversations, no problem. One thing to consider is that normally [on Sundays] you'll have a bit of a wait; however, it's generally not incredibly long—maybe around 20 minutes. I've gone many times and plan to keep going. Definitely recommend!

Great place for breakfast! It can get pretty busy, because their food is great!
The oatmeal is good as well as the eggs Benedict.
The decor is fun - it’s almost a must-see place...
Sometimes, it’s too cold and drafty inside though.
And there can be quite a long wait on weekends.

Love this place!!! It's a little bit of a wait but worth it. "It's happy days". You'll get it after you visit. Kinda weird but, I couldn't help but notice how clean it was. Even the HVAC fan near the ceiling didn't have a spec of dust. Definitely worth checking out. For breakfast get there at 8:30, less wait.

Great service, reasonably priced, dog friendly. Owner could not be nicer or more accommodating. Delicious homemade scones, smoked salmon and bacon, green chile wake up salsa to die for. You will not be disappointed

Great place for breakfast in Albany and the Bay Area. Wife and I used to make the trek over when we lived on the Pennisula. The scones are my favorite to start with while waiting for the Naughty Charlie. Great family breakfast spot. Pet friendly patio too.

This place has a lot of simple food done really well. The jam for the toast was great and the home potatoes for breakfast was cooked perfectly. I had the Italian omelette and it had the right amount of cheese. If you have a mimosa the watermelon mimosa was well balanced.

We were on our way to Starbucks when we saw this adorable restaurant. It has been raining so they weren't serving outside. However when the owner saw that we had our little dog with us he immediately set us up on the patio. He was so gracious! The menu was amazing and it took a long time to narrow our choices. My daughter had Huevos Rancheros and I had ham and eggs. My potatoes were crisp and my eggs perfect. Hers included beautiful fresh tomatoes and green onions, and had just the right amount of spice. They also brought us homemade raspberry preserves and yummy green salsa.

One of my favorite spots around for diner-style breakfast all day food. Service is very attentive, but it can get quite busy during the weekend. They make great omelettes, but it's really hard to go wrong with anything on their menu

Appears to be a standard 50's diner but this place exceeds expectation.

Got a regular burger (The Royal). This did not taste like a regular burger. A high quality bun, arugula instead of iceberg, a little something that I'm pretty sure is just the standard seasoning and this burger fits it's name.

Tack on great service, a clean restaurant, and a pretty decent mocha and I'll definitely be returning.

Overall I would take half a star off with the fries being nothing notable, but I had to round up.

My brother had the delightful greek omelette, I loved my fresh-made scone with lemon curd. Great coffee!

I enjoyed the service and funky retro decor as well. Check it out!
