I'm not quite sure why I prefer Max's to other liquor stores. It's in Albany, my stomping grounds, and I'd much rather support a small business than the very large chain liquor store across the street. It's hard to say that the staff are friendly, because turnover seems surprisingly high. But I appreciate that their girlie magazines aren't as obvious as at some other stores. It's my favorite place to buy lottery tickets. Again, I can't put my finger on it, but it's my favorite.

The staff are nice, they have some fresh basics like milk, and almost everything is unexpired (candy, etc).

Open late, have a bunch in stock, was able to get some medicine and snacks on the way home.
