Wow, what an amazing experience! The owners are so helpful and knowledgeable. I immediately felt welcome. So many amazing yarns, fiber and notions. They even have yarn from my favorite dyer, Kacey Knits! I can hardly wait to return! If you are in the area you definitely need to visit, it's a must see!

This store is my favorite for a great selection of yarn both your unique and everyday with a wide variety of notions. There's a cozy sit and knit for a little bit. And the service is warm and helpful. It's an asset to any knitter.

Nice staff and very welcoming! I got a chance to knit with them. They have bright and colorful yarns there, along with cool, upcycled knitting bags.

Probably my favorite yarn shop in the area. The owners have been in the Bay Area fiberarts scene for many years. The yarn is curated to have not only solid workhorse yarns but also high-quality special yarns at great prices for the quality.

Sweet shop with amazing choices and helpful, friendly people. Every time I stop by, I'm greeted with a warm welcome and an offer to help. Folks remember what I was working on last time I came by and ask about progress and are always willing to answer questions and offer advice. When I ran out of (discontinued) yarn on a recent project, everyone here was jumping in to offer suggestions for substitutions.

I drive all the way to Black Squirrel when I need yarn. Worth the drive. There are always knitters/crocheters in the store, with staff members always willing to help.

Awesome shop! Good selection, cute stickers, and really friendly people. I forgot the stickers I bought on the counter and was half a block away before one of the ladies working ran me down and gave them to me! So thankful!

The service could not have been better - checking in and patiently answering questions while also giving me plenty of space to consider options. In the end I simply bought needles but they will be my first point of call when I need yarn.

I love this magical place. I love to sew and the selection of fabric, though it is small , is nicely curated and can I talk about the patterns?! Great selection and since I make clothes for my Sister I really appreciate they carry size inclusive patterns. The employees are always super helpful and I always see a smile on their faces, so nice. I don’t knit or crochet but this place makes me want to try! Beautiful and special yarns I never see at other places. I do live out of town on the central coast but I make sure I come every time I am up visiting my family. I highly recommended the Black Squirell if you appreciate special things.

This place is hands down my favorite yarn store. It has an incredible selection of hand painted yarns by companies I haven't seen anywhere else, the staff is super friendly and helpful and the space itself is beautiful- giant windows with lots of natural light and there's always an interesting trunk show going on. There are also some really nice fabrics, sewing patterns and needle point kits as well. It is definitely worth a special trip if you are visiting the area from out of town.

This is, by far, my favorite yarn shop in the SF Bay Area. Chase is a wonderful proprietor. She is incredibly inclusive, sells yarns and other crafty items that will fit all budget needs. During the shelter-in-place she has been very responsive in shipping out items quickly. I recommend checking out her website (and store when the shelter-in-place ends). :)

There is something about yarn shops that make me giddy with joy. My brain drops out through the bottom of my shoes and I forget what I'm holding in my hand. The friendly employee reminded me that all three hanks I selected were the same kind, just different colors. Silly me! They allowed me to ramble on about yarn, assisted me with my decision and collected my payment. No judgement. They were glad to help. I avoided the coffee cups, t-shirts and enamel pins for sale. The silk yarn was beautiful. The craft kits almost got me. And, psst, get this -- they're child and dog-friendly! This place is wonderful!

I’m taking a knitting class from The Black Squirrel and the instructors are great! The class is super casual and people of all levels are there. And, they teach crocheting too. Also, they have beautiful yarn and little things that you need to start or finish a project. So glad to have found them.

Oh and they have a Stitch and B!tch night, which I think is on Thursdays. Call just to make sure. I’ve never gone. It’s free.

One more thing is that people remain masked so this is one safe way to socialize during Covid. Couldn’t recommend them more.

Fantastic and friendly store with a great selection of indie yarn. The staff is knowledgeable, and the friendliest people you will ever meet. Plus, they'll let you wind yarn even if you didn't buy it from them. It means I always try to buy the notions I need from them as a thank you.
