Sat on the patio on a cool evening and it was very pleasant. Food and drinks were delicious. Service staff is first class.

My overall experience was exceptional

We had a wonderful date night this evening at the Independent. We started with the cheese appetizer. Blue, brie and another hard white cheese with toasted walnuts an amazing truffle honey and fruit. It was light, had amazing complimenting flavors and the presentation was fantastic.

I had the old fashioned which was one of the best I've ever tried. My wife had a local Chardonnay that was recommended which she enjoyed.

We both enjoyed the beef Wellington. It was cooked to a perfect medium. The pastry around it was soft buttery and crispy all at once. One guest next to us had the same and said he's had the dish at hells kitchen and says the independents rivals or surpasses at a lower price with a heartier portion. I particularly enjoyed the vegetables that accompanied the dish. Every restaurant serves the same broccolini or cauliflower with it's steak dishes. I was surprised to see corn, greens and peppers.

For sides my wife had the polenta, creamy and cheesey! I had the Mac and cheese which was also amazing the baked crumbs on top were crunchy and the texture combination was as great as the flavor.

We then had the most amazing pineapple coconut tart. I can't say enough about the menu and the options. It was a fantastic evening with amazing service and I can't wait to come back!

Great food and friendly service. My ribeye was excellent and my wife's chicken superb. The wine and cocktails were a bit pricey but this is a wonderful restaurant.

Best food, worth every $$ located right here.
The Mushrooms, mash potatoes, bear battered french fries, the steaks, the salmon burger, the *light & fluffy* cheesecake and the bread pudding.
With a party of 5, we were sharing each other's meals because we couldn't stop raving about each dish. You can't go wrong with the food here. All the way home, we were talking about the next time we'll go there.
We can't wait to go there again and try some new menu items because everything was so good.

My husband and I stopped in around 4 p.m., (Friday) and they were already booked with reservations. But the gentleman up front tried his best to squeeze us in, and he did!! And he did gladly!! So nice and friendly.
The bar was packed.
We ordered the filet mignon and beef stroganoff.
DELICIOUS!!
It was very tender meat, and the sides were yummy. The pasta is very good.
I will have to try the bread pudding next time. As it's my favorite, I was very full this time.

From the ownership to the service, there is no other restaurant around that can match this level of service and food. The drinks are top tier and definitely masters of their craft. The food is out of this world no matter what you order, you can’t go wrong. I would recommend The Independent to absolutely anyone. A must see and must visit location!

I’m an avid foodie and have traveled to some pretty amazing places and eaten at Michelin star rated restaurants and I must say this place stacks up against the best restaurants I’ve eaten at. The waiters and staff are always attentive and friendly educating us on new specials or answering any questions we may have. Their mac and cheese is a testament to decadent dishes. Hands down the best I’ve ever had!

From their main dishes to desserts you cannot go wrong. I’ve been about five times and each time is better than the last! Also special mention to their craft cocktails and super friendly bartenders. If I could rate them a 10 I would!

Delicious food and great service! So excited to have found delicious crispy calamari with amazing dipping sauces. My husband had the pesto fettuccini with grilled chicken, I had the burger with fries and then we finished with the creme brûlée. Everything was perfectly cooked and we will definitely be back!

We had our 4 yo grandson join us for lunch today. He loved the Mac n cheese with fresh fruit! The service was attentive and patient. Our grandson was very well behaved with a lunch house full of elderly patrons!

This place is always good. We had excellent food, outstanding service. The one thing a little surprising about this place they charge big city prices for steaks but judged on quality I can't really say it's not worth it.

My overall experience was exceptional. The server was ready to give many kind recommendations to my indecisive father. The calamari appetizer was crispy and came with two bright, flavorful sauces. I ordered the Ahi entree, and it was cooked to perfection. The creamy coconut rice was lightly sweet and complimented the chili oil remarkably well. It was not spicy at all. I also ordered the Behind the Knees cocktail which was very well constructed. I look forward to dining here again one day!

Wedding anniversary dinner! Filet was cooked perfectly. Both me and my wife cleaned our plates. The server was always on top of the drinks. Can't wait to come back.

The fish & chips were among the best I've ever had. The outside & inside seating options are very nice.
I prefer outside, even if the air is a little 'crisp'; by the fireplace under the pergola is especially nice. The waitstaff is pleasant and helpful. Overall, one of our go-to places after moving to El Dorado County.

Wow, fantastic experience. Wonderful food and drinks, and friendly engaging staff who really make an effort. (Pix are of French Vanilla cocktail and Ahi tacos) I never order more than over drink, but this was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Not cheap, but so worth it.

I love this place. It was our firsts time but we will come back for sure. Great food nice atmosphere, service was a little slow but what can you expect, good food lots of people will come.

Really loved the beet salad - we asked for it to share and they split it into 2 plates without being asked, which was a lovely touch. We enjoyed several drinks, the chicken sandwich with turnip fries and the filet mignon with truffle mac & cheese. Everything was excellent!

The food and service are wonderful! We come here when we want a 5 star dinner in Placerville and it never disappoints! Tonight my husband surprised me with a post Valentine's Day dinner, and I had a caesar salad, the skirt steak with mashed potatoes, and the cheesecake of the day, which was chocolate peanut butter. We sat at a little table by the window and the atmosphere was just perfect. The waiters came by regularly to fill water (very important to me!), clear plates, and ask if we needed anything. It was a delightful dinner.

From Wait Staff to Presentation to Flavors All were Outstanding!
Insde was beautiful....dined on the Patio.
First time and will definitely return!!!
