The Original Mels Diner

Cute Diner in Placerville. I got The Hangover 1: Biscuits & gravy, eggs, and potatoes. Husband had the Corned Beef Hash and loved it. It was delicious. Our waitress was super friendly. Great atmosphere all around. Definitely deserves a stop.

A real American diningplace. We loved It. The service was good and the food was good.

We enjoyed it eating and drinking here. It’s also for children fun. For fifthy cent you can even play music you choose in a musicbox.

Priscilla is a wonderful waitress, she always takes such good care of my friends and myself. She is so attentive and thorough. We always take up the whole back area tables, and she gives us individual bills which definitely helps. It's a fun place with juke box music and a great place for any meal or occasion. Definitely recommend if you haven't been!

If I lived closer, I would visit Mel's often!!! Had a plan to stop here for breakfast on our way to Tahoe! What a fabulous idea!!! So delicious, and I look forward to visiting again soon!!!

The food is reasonably priced and the portions are quite generous. It also always tastes good in my experience. The staff is where the place seems to really shine though. I've never had an experience less than good there, and the super friendly cashiers and servers really contribute to that. The atmosphere is nice, there's music constantly playing and plenty of photographs and other decorations on the walls and the place feels generally uplifting to spend time in. It's my go-to place to eat.

Fantastic staff. Hostess Tahlia and our server Sarah were very hospitable. Food was well made and portions were very satisfying. Restroom was clean without any problems. Dinning area was very clean and sanitary. Very low noise so we could talk at a normal conversation level. I would recommend trying the Deuce Coupe burger.

The server was super friendly and attentive! She checked on us and got the kids meals out quickly. The roasted turkey was delicious with stuffing and cranberry. My husband got a delicious bacon cheeseburger and fries. The mixed green salad on the side with balsamic dressing was fresh and the side veggies were flavorful too. The prices are higher due to inflation but well worth it for prompt service and ice cream sundaes for the kids. Great stop from Lake Tahoe to our home in Salinas.

We love eating here, but it can be a little spotty on the food quality. Just don't be wild and have silly expectations, it's a diner. Order a melt and a malt and you will love it. The service is always wonderful.

Priscilla is always so delightful and helpful. Always makes sure our family is well taken care of. She's always smiling . She genuinely cares about our experience and how we are everytime.
Honestly we come here for that more than anything. Thanks Priscilla for always making us laugh.

Mel's is such a great place. I've lived in Placerville for less than 6 Months and nothing felt like home. It wasn't until I went to dinner at Mel's that I actually felt like I was home. The atmosphere is so inviting, there's music from the jukebox and people quietly chatting with each other and the employees are so friendly! Unfortunately, I couldn't get the name of our waiter but he was super friendly, really nice and just a sweet guy. The food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Great restaurant with a great environment

My husband and I love Mel's Diner! The food is awesome and delicious and the people who work there are super nice! Highly recommend. We stop here for breakfast on our way up to apple hill. It's a great stop that's reasonably priced.

We rather enjoyed the freshness of an old style theme! Service was Attentive and compassionate. The meals we ordered stood up to the vibes and atmosphere; Original and delicious. Very pleasurable experience all around!

Stopped in to get something to eat. They were really busy but we had the best service and were seated immediately. The waitstaff was really nice and attentive. The food came out really fast and was really good. I had a bannana shake, it was made with real bannanas and was the best shake i have had in a long time! Awesome place!

I came for breakfast with my mom, brother and sister in law. It was very busy. Hard to find parking.

We were seated right away. Our waitress was Pamela. She was wonderful....very attentive and a great friendly personality. We j9ked with her a lot.

I ordered the chicken strips. Got all the sauces...the honey mustard and ranch soooo...good. It was tender and yummy...they give you 5 good size pieces. The fries crispy.

My mom ordered the california omlet I believe and really liked it a lot.

My brother the lumber jack breakfast. It comes with pancakes..sausage...bacon...ham...he really enjoyed it.

We would go back for sure. Great food...clean...wonderful waitress...😊😊😊

Went here on Friday then again on Sunday. Servers are super friendly and on top of their game. Very clean establishment not over cluttered. Food is very good including the milk shakes definitely try the chocolate one. Food came quick too. When in the area definitely stop by Mel’s

We stop by every year after of before going to pick up our Christmas tree. This last time we got vanilla and oreo shakes. The kids and husband were in heaven. Kids had fish and chips and husband and I had clam chowder, garlic fries (so yummy) and San Francisco burger. The service was great. We had an over all great experience. The kids love the pink cars.

What a great place to have a meal! We were seated right away. Service was fast and the food was hot and delicious!

Had cheesesteak, was a lot a food, so value there. Meat was a little dry and american cheese was like kraft fake American, would be better with melted cheese. Fries were good and seasoned well. Overall, good comfort food

Absolutely loved eating at Mel’s when I was in California for my 50th birthday, great food, helpful staff and a great atmosphere, looking forward to returning this year when I visit from the UK again

This is the first place where I wasn't able to finish my plate. The servings are so huge it's great. I ordered the deuce coupe with no onions and American cheese. I underestimated this place. I was expecting a medium sized burger with two small patties but instead I got a tower. I hat to squish it good to get it in my mouth. Lettuce and tomato was fresh and drys were salted to perfection. Service was fast and clean although there was one fly bothering us. The booths had vintage jukeboxes and it gives the place an original 50's vibe. It's like I traveled back in time. It's very neat. In conclusion this is a great family friendly place and the food is great.
