The Original Rainbow Cone - Darien

Absolutely love the 5 flavor 🍨 ice cream!!!!
It's so original and so darn good...you must try ❤ it!!! We took a quart home and by the time we made it back, it melted slightly that we got 2 spoons and dug away at it😋 The best ice cream scream concept!

It is inside a Buona. The ice cream was tasty, I just got mint flake. Someone I was with had the rainbow cone, suggestion was to get it only if you would like most of the flavors. There was a lot of seating, and I'm glad I went. I would suggest bringing your kids here. I also am attaching some photos of the place

Wow what a great ice cream place. I really enjoyed the rainbow cone. It has five flavors. Chocolate, strawberry, pistachio, orange sherbet, what they call palmer house which is like a French vanilla with cherries in it, all piled into one cone. They don't do scoops but rather like flat layers. It's really good.

Who doesn't like 5 different flavors of ice cream stacked on top of each other? It's a little different from what I remember because back in the 80s, they would put 5 full scoops of ice cream on your cone, and now it's more like squares. Either way, it was great. 😁

Next time you get a craving for ice-cream and you're in the Chicagoland area give them a try!! It's a unique and fun experience. Their ice-cream is DELISH!! Pink/white are my favorite colors so I was automatically drawn to this place. I can't wait to go back!!

Rainbow Cone Ice Cream Shop just opened in Darien, IL on Cass Ave. Tried the Original Rainbow Cone which is their specialty. It comes in Baby, Small or Large. I chose the Small. There is an uncharge for the waffle cone, otherwise it comes on a regular cone. I opted for the waffle cone. I appreciated the cone holder that they gave me as it helped with drips and also made it easy to hold. All 5 layers of the cone were really good. The bright and full exterior of the building (pink and white polka dots) with bright picnic tables and a white picket fence all add to the ambience and fun of the place. There were also lights strung under the roof and I am sure would be a nice place to go at night. Will go back again. Below are some photos I took

My wife grew up in south Chicago and remembers going to Rainbow Cone! She said the ice cream here is just the same as she remembered. We had a great time there!

I recently went to rainbow cone for the first time ever and it exceeded my expectations. It wasn’t only just super good ice cream but the girls serving me made the experience a good one. Especially the young 80s styled girl with the short hair and star finger tattoo, she put a smile on my face. I definitely would come back !!

Love love love. I got the mini cone with all of the flavors. And the donuts with sprinkles. 🤤🤤🤤 Those donuts are so good. And the ice cream was great with all of those flavors combined. I love variety with everything. I went back and got a bowl of just the ice cream. 😂 All flavors. I couldn't tell you which flavor was the best. They're all good especially together! The place is super cute too! Great place for pictures. You can't miss the bright pink building with white polka dots 😀

Last time we went to this Buona Beef / Rainbow Cone, I purchased the Rainbow Cone Cake Slice. It was pretty and delicious. Even though I'm not a fan of the orange sherbet, the rest of the flavors were so delicious they made up for it. In order of my favorite flavor, the Original Rainbow Cone consists of these flavors; Pistachio, Palmer House, Strawberry, Chocolate, and Orange Sherbet.

If my friends read this and saw that Chocolate was all the way down at four, they would think I've been replaced by an alien clone. But that's how amazing the other flavors are! I'm a total chocoholic and the chocolate ice cream is fantastic, but I have literally never tasted a better ice cream in my life than their Pistachio. Palmer House is a very close second.

What flavor is Palmer House you ask? Well, you can Google it, like I should have done before writing this review or you can trust my palate and believe me when I say that I am fairly confident it is an amaretto flavor with maraschino cherry chunks in it. It is yum!

On this visit, I ordered a small cup of the original Rainbow Cone. Chocolate went on the bottom, then they layered Strawberry on that, followed by Palmer House, then Pistachio, and topped with Orange Sherbet. Even though it's a small, it's still a huge serving. I finished half of each flavor and was so full I thought I would die. But I did get to bring half home to my husband to enjoy.

My 13yo son ordered a large cup of the mint flake. He ate the whole thing but I did manage to sneak a bite. It is the best mint chocolate chip ice cream I've ever had. And since Mint Chip is my favorite ice cream flavor, I've had quite a bit of various brands in my lifetime. This place is a "must" for everyone. I'm already planning on next visit. Highly recommend.

We obviously had to try their signature rainbow cone and while the flavors sound a bit weird together, they worked so well. Definitely a go again

What can I say, it’s Rainbow Cone. Have been going for years. Started with the original on south Western Avenue. Now they have expanded and are now in my neighborhood. Always a wonderful and rewarding place to go.

Actually ran in to grab soup for my mom at Buenos Beef and talked myself into a Rainbow Cone. Both were Great!

This is one of several remote locations of "original Rainbow Cones ", the original still in operation at 92nd and Western avenue, in Chicago s Beverly neighborhood.
I am 68 and the flavors are still like the rich flavorful ice cream of my youth. But only this ice cream of my youth.
My hat's off to my mom and dad for introducing me to such a wonderful taste treat, and my hat's off to those at ORC for keeping the recipe alive and delicious...and that's why I would give this place ten stars.
